A story in three parts, of three decades, and of three women. Inspired by Johnny Cash's rendition of Trent Reznor's "Hurt".

I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.

Livvy, this is fantastic. Very dark, I like it. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing! I'm glad you like it!

He is going mad, isn't he?I'm on tenterhooks, waiting to see what he does next.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Yes, he's going to have an important conversation with Lucius soon and it'll be interesting how he reacts to it!Thanks!Livvy
Wow, I really feel sorry for Hermione. She had no idea what she was walking into. I feel sorry for Severus, too. He could really use some therapy!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Oh, yes, there is that! LOL! You will see more of Lucius and hopefully something will get through.Livvy
Wow, I love this story and its getting more addictive with each chapter.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you! I'm so glad you are liking it so much! Thanks for reviewing!Livvy
The Holy Virgin and the whore in one package, is this how he sees Hermione? OK, I probably exggerate a bit with my comparison, since it's obvious Severus never really thought Claudia to be a whore, but he's driving himself crazy and lets the other pay the price. It's a good thing Minerva has been able to read him so well, but what of Hermione? Will he succeed in driving her away?
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
That is the ultimate question, will he suceed in driving her away? It is IMHO that canon Snape did place Lily on a pedestal, that she was "more" than other women. I don't see him as loving her as more as he was obsessed with her. Since obsession has no basis in reality, he can create whatever image he desires. Claudia was just a "regular" woman, but he was drawn to both and is now faced with the qualities of both in one woman. He is scared shitless! And when Snape gets scared, others suffer because he doesn't like to be vulnerable. He'll become more and more vulnerable as the chapters go until...Livvy
Wow. That was incredible and intense and now I have totally caught up with you and must await Part Three with everyone else....
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Well, the first chapter of Part III is in the queue! Thanks for continuing to review!Livvy
And finally he's faced with who and what Claudia really was, and how he used her.Brava!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Hermione will be the person to force him to face it all. I hope you continue to like the fic once Part III starts!Livvy
Oh, this winds into more convoluted and angsty knots for Sev. I'm surprised that he only slept with Claudia; I thought I detected a difference in the way he approached her that implied that he'd acquired new experiences with women and now realized what she was missing. And your plot continues to thicken....
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
No, I decided early on how Lucius and Avery let him watch them have sex with their "whores" would be how he would learn his "technique".Livvy
I'm glad you're acknowleding the parts that are canon in your author notes instead of in the text. It's easier and more fulfilling to read the story without the reminders that some is more "authentic" than others, for lack of a better explanation.Another compelling chapter.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Yes, I don't like the "break" in the flow of the story. THanks!Livvy
Severus has a long way to go. Wow, what trauma and angst.Well done, my dear!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you. He will suffer a great deal for what he did to Claudia.Livvy
I'm speechless.I should have seen that coming.Wow. The horror. I'm trying to feel sorry for Severus but frankly right now I'm not feeling it. But it goes along with the way he was portrayed in canon, thinking he could have Lily still, and that she could forgive him for the loss of Harry and James.Poor, poor Claudia!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Yes, I wanted that shock to be there. Severus needed to see and realize where his obsession with Lily has gotten him. He will have to carry the guilt over her death for a very long time. It was painful to have to end this chapter. Claudia deserved so much more. Ah, well...Livvy
Another brilliant slice of Slytherin life! And poor Claudia! You're painting an exquisite picture of young Severus, too.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you very much!Livvy
Wow. This Slytherin culture you've created is magnificent! I can't wait to see where you're going with it!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you! I really waned to show how Severus could have been pulled into this society. It is the antithesis of everything he was raised in: poverty, unappreciated, unwanted. I wanted to show a real reason why he would forsake even the girl he loved for these people. I'm glad you like it.Livvy
So, he admits to having feelings for Hermione?
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Only to himself, and he is bound and determined nothing will happen between them, which will make for interesting encounters between them in the next part. Thanks!Livvy
Oh, good. Hermione is in the building!Looking forward to where you take this!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thanks!Livvy
Very poignant and nicely written. I never imagined Lucius breaking down in such a way, but after reading this, I can certainly see how he could have. I liked the interaction between him and Severus a lot. Once again, nice work!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Oh, I'm glad. The next and final part will have a lot more of Severus and Lucius interacting and also a couple of interesting conversations between Lucius and Hermione as well.Livvy
Response from emmeline33 (Reviewer)
Lucius and Hermione? That should be good! I'll definitely be looking forward to that.
It was so touching to see Lucius breaking down like that... so much promise and yet he never did 'corssover.' Ah well.Poor Severus, he wants her so badly and Hermione is totally unaware. so sad.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Well, it ain't over till it's over! ;)I hope you like the final instalment.Livvy
I can't wait to see what the next chapters told.I hope thay have a happy end for Severus and Hermione, but i'm thinking thay don't.This is also listed under Malfoy Mannor so i'm wondering if the rest has something to do with Severus and a Malfoy or Hermione and a Malfoy. Can't wait for more!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
There is definately a confrontation brewing. I hope you will like how it ends.Livvy
he is so damaged here, it will take a lot of care and attention to heal
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Yes, it is going to take a lot to get him "right" again.Livy
Wow! This has been a very powerful aand moving story.Totally incredible.Keep it up!
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you so much! I hope you continue to like it!Livvy
Even though Severus is fiction he leads the sadest life I have ever known.I love how you add your own parts and still make it go along with the books, not manny can do that.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you very much. I worked very hard to try to make this story fit with the canon.Livvy
Another great chapter. This look through Seve's eyes is haunting. Very well done.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thank you so much! I hope you continue to like it story in the final part!Livvy
Good chapter,I know I live in my own little world, but I have often thought that Severus seen some of the simerlaraties between Hermione and Lilly.Maybe not in the beauity scence(Herrmione has a beauity all her own)but thay where booth mugles and very smart.Myself I think it hurt Severus to see Hermione and Harry togeather.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
I always wondered why he always reacted so strongly to Hermione, calling her a know-it-all, etc. I think she reminded him of Lily as well.Livvy
I like the way you have brought out his ambivalence towards his old friends, he can't stand the men they have become, but they were his only friends as a child.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thanks, it's hard, these were his friends growing up. It's just difficult.Livvy
Well your Lucius is very insightful, picking the mix of Claudia/Lily in Hermione and warning Sev.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Hurt)
Thanks, I'm really interested in how people will like Lucius' evolution as a person and friend to Snape.Livvy
