Hermione is forced to lead a double life when she agrees to Dumbledore's plan to protect Professor Snape. Inspired by the Marriage Law. Warning for student/teacher relationship, though Hermione is of age.

Grape Forever!
Reviews for Second Life
Have I told you how much Molly's constant protesting grates on my nerves? I know she is speaking from great love and concern but I want her to shut up. Aren't I the heartless one? ((snicker))I thought that chat with Moody was good. Hermione needs another person she can talk to.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I hate that too! I wrote it, of course, for comic relief. My husband was rolling. But perhaps that's just my weird sense of humor. I'm glad you liked Moody. :)
What charm Mundungus has at the pub, eh? Perhaps he used a little magic to gain the attention of the ladies. It is a great plan, multiple Harrys. I'm glad that Hermione has someone else who knows the secret, i.e., Moody.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Maybe so... hey, if you've got the magic, use it! I'm glad you liked Moody. Thanks for reviewing!
There are no words, dearest Lariope. You know how much I love this story and this chapter only made me love it all the more! I find it very neat that Moody's got it all figured out--very realistic. Can't wait for more!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much, my dear. I am so happy to hear that you are still loving the story. Moody became very dear to me in this chapter--oddly, writing him made me feel much more strongly about him than I did in canon! More is on the way... Thanks so much for reviewing!
I love how Fleur volunteered! And I hope that Snape will be allright. What did he do anyway during this time? I'll have to wait and see...*sigh* ;D
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you,

! I loved Fleur desperately in this chapter. I guess this was the chapter in which I publicly declared love for minor characters. XDMore to come soon. Thank you so much for reviewing!
I just love the scene between Ron and his father. Mr. Weasley is often portrayed as just a light-hearted bumbling man, but we see glimpses of the depths of intellect and respect he carries.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! And I am SO glad to hear that Mr Weasley read as a deeper character--I am devoted to Mr Weasley. He's such a pleasure to write. xoxo
This story has become the crackfic to end all crackfics for me. As the other reviewers have said, brilliantly done! Your telling of the tale is so much fuller and satisfying than the original DH. Thank you!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! What staggering praise. *squishes you* I really appreciate it.
I like Moody in this story...that he's in on it and not in constant distrust of Snape.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm very glad to hear that you liked Moody. I sort of fell in love with him as I wrote him. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
You do such a wonderful job of blending canon with your story. I loved seeing the order meeting. Thank you for a wonderful story, I can't wait to see what is next.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I don't think I realized as I set about writing this story how canon-compliant it would end up being, but I'm glad that you feel it's working. More is on the way! Thanks for reading and reviewing. :)
love your storyline, your true to character portrayals...I have 15 min before I need to pick the kids up from school- eat breakfast or read chapter 21...well breakfast can wait, reading your story can't! Priorities!!!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I love your priorities!! Thank you! But don't starve... that wouldn't be right. :)

No story currently in progress manages to fill me with such dread and tension. I believe that reading the actual DH didn't do as much!
As always, my two cents: I have tears in my eyes for Hermione. The moment she wanted to add, "How are you?" to the ring's message, that was it. Someone had mentioned in the previous chapter that they wished you had let them at least hug, but I know why you didn't. One split second of physical contact, and it would've been over for them. They can't hug. It would be fierce, crushing, and led... who knows where? Same for this ring message. If she sent, "How are you?" it would unleash a mountain of emotion on both sides, a veritable MOUNTAIN.
Can't do that, can we? Their restraint is heroic, really.
Well done.
Author's Response: Lulabelle, this review means more to me than you know. I've been suffering a crisis of faith about the lack of physical contact b/w them lately--and this helps me to feel like I'm doing the right thing.
After I read your review, I had this image of Hermione asking how he was, and Snape crashing through the wards of the Burrow and---
Well, that's another fic, I guess.
xoxoxo So much love for you.
Author's Response: Hey--my email to you keeps bouncing back. Have you gotten anything from me?
lulabelle72's response: Not a thing! That's weird. Is it: gshep72@sbcglobal.net? Try that. Should work. I thought mine to you got bounced!
Author's Response: ah, ha! TPP was giving me a garbled address. Email on the way!
I so enjoy your story. The fact that I actually know what's going to happen makes me even more curious to find out how you will re-tell it.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad that you're enjoying it!
I've just spent the last week reading a few chapters a day, I've been wanting to read this fic for ages but knew it was going to be a favorite and I would want to read it all in one gulp! Which is what I've done and am now up to date, I really love it, my favorite fics are ones like this that weave their own versions into JKR's, even though we know what happens you've still managed to make it edge of your seat stuff, can't wait for the next update!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!! I'm so glad you're reading and enjoying it. I'm always torn too--should I give a whole day to something and just read it start to finish, or mete it out in little doses... Thank you for reviewing. I really appreciate it. More is in the queue!
welll things are moving along nicley you are really turning it into hermiones story wtggood luvk with the next xhapterthanks
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, faula tara. I am very grateful for your reviews. xoxox
Even though we know what happened with the Polyjuice plan, you have evoked a gut-tightening suspense with the details you added. You've deftly woven canon into your story, and as always, I am amazed.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you--this one was a bit of a bridging chapter, I know, but I'm glad you enjoyed it nonetheless....Onward, into the wilds of DH! I'm glad you like it. Thank you so much for reviewing. xoxo
Ohoh will there be consequences for her records not to be erased?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
We shall see.... :) Thanks for reviewing, Septentrion!
Moody is great again, and Hermione's really thinking on her feet. I see she's starting to think about that marriage record and what a complication it might mean. And even though she's come up with some very good reasons to destroy it, I can't help hoping it somehow survives.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! Yes, that marriage record has been eating at the back of my mind....And I'm like you; I secretly hope it survives.
She did not really know Fleur Delacour, but suddenly, she felt that she would die to protect her. Beautiful.Another great chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you. I admit to crying over Fleur in this chapter. And then I watched GoF and nearly sobbed when Fleur came on screen. I am a sad, sad person. XDThanks for reading and reviewing, Mia. I appreciate it more than you know.
Another great chapter to my favourite story!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Oh, Thank you,
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)

So was Snape's first thought of Hermione when he saw that peacock? or maybe did he think it was a pheonix patronus?? Hmmm.... just curious :) As always, this story has me hanging on every word. Love it's ties to canon, love that it ISN'T canon LOL, and the writing is exceptional. Thanks for the entertainment :)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you,
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
! I really appreciate it. I'm glad the canon stuff is still working for you. More very soon!
This is such a fabulous story. It gets better with every chapter. Your characterisation is so strong that it really reads as an accompaniment to DH.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! That's a high compliment, and I really appreciate it. xoxo
This story is just sooo great, it has somehow become my favourite over the past weeks. I know everything that is supposed to happen, but I'm still really looking forward to reading it from your perspective. I already cannot wait for the next chapter.Great work!gab
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad. :) Thank you for reading and reviewing--it means so much to me.
I love this - the way your weave your own story into the events of HBP and DH is brilliant and completely plausable. I love your interpretation of Arthur and it's good to see a bit of background to what was glossed over in DH. Looking forward to more.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks--I actually love to write Arthur. I feel he has this quiet dignity that gets lost in the Weasley shuffle. I'm glad you liked him, in particular. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
I can only wonder what will happen when Moody falls and the marriage records will be available to the Death Eaters...This chapter really explains a lot that was just skimmed over in DH.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
We'll find out, won't we? I'm glad this chapter worked to fill in the gaps for you. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.
Another excellent chapter! I'm a bit breathless as events sweep them along. I'm glad she didn't ask Moody to destroy records of their marriage, however I am a bit concerned: What if the Death Eaters find them when they take over the Ministry?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
All shall be explained, my dear! But I'm glad you're thinking ahead. More than that, I'm glad you are still liking the story! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.
I always wished we could have seen more of the actual planning for Harry's departure - and Ron & Hermione convincing the Weasleys that they're not returning to Hogwarts. So I was very happy to see glimpses of that here!I really loved the way Severus was wishing Hermione was there with him when he saw the white peacocks. It's all those little things showing how he does, really, care for her.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Other than the fact that I wanted to begin with The Dark Lord Ascending, I wrote that whole scene so that he could have that thought about the peacocks. It occurred to me that she would find them funny about two weeks before I started writing this chapter, and I couldn't shake it! I'm glad it spoke of what I meant it to--that she's always with him. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
