Reviews for Second Life
Oops! I suppose Severus didn't think about the effect of all those females lusting after him, did he? And yet he was so strict with Hermione when she was being wanted by someone else.
Well, well. At least he knows that she really does care. Enough to get angry, at least!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Poor Severus, even if he had thought about it, there probably wasn't much he could do about it, "ordered" as he was to dance by old Voldybutt.
But yes, I think Hermione's reaction will be telling to him.
Yet again, a lovely chapter. I really liked the more sophisticated take on the Dark gatherings (the stereotypical Dark Revel always seemed quite unplausable to me). Nice cliffhanger too. :-) I really hate the three-day delay in this queue now. Do you post anywhere else but here and at Ashwinder where chapters get through more quickly? Or, another idea, you wouldn't need another Beta, would you? :-)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I think that manners of a certain kind can be very threatening in their own way, and I like the idea of a Severus who is forced to be chillingly polite.
You know,I sometimes hate the three day wait, too! But even more, I'm terrified of publishing in real time. I like having a few chapters in my pocket. ;)
Response from RedOrchid (Reviewer)
I love chillingly polite Snape. He's just so very hot :-D It is good to be ahead a few chapters, since you have the chance to rewrite, should your reviewers find plotholes while you post. I should start doing that. :-) Anyway, if you ever want to take me up on the beta offer, just holler, ok?

How very predatory all those pureblood females must be.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
That's exactly how I see them. I'm glad it came through! Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Oh my GOD!!!! BAD BAD Sevy! I'm on the end of my seat right now cursing him...lol... I can't wait to see how this is going to mess up the fragile peace that's between the two. ohhh update soon please?!!?!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
As quickly as I can--More is in the queue!
Thanks for reading :)
Oh noes! Why! Poor Hermione!
Brilliant chapter! And I'm srsly looking forward to the next one!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm always going to think "Oh noes!" about this chapter. :)
I'm glad you liked it! More soon...
You write very skillfully! ^_^ I always love Snape in his introspective moods and you captured that very well. Of course, the last line was just - well, I'm sure it was the last thing Snape would have expected from Hermione at this point. Can't wait for your next chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! That's a lovely compliment. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
Like the chapter - how Severus in his mind dismissed all the Pureblood women as less. The last part was a stumper - not sure why Hermione could see her ring - please do tell- cannot wait to see what that is about.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Hermione can see her ring when someone touches Severus with "amorous intentions." So she's pretty freaked out right now, poor thing. :) I'm glad you liked the chapter! Thanks for reviewing.
Poor, poor Hermione. My heart goes out to her.
Damn, your writing TOTALLY sucks me in!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know; this has been a hard road for her, especially being so young and never having any outlet for her. My husband calls this story The Torture of Hermione Granger.
(but I'm glad my writing sucks you in! *twirls*) Thank you!
Oh yes! that little charm! opps! lol lovely update! can't wait for more!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad you got it!! Thanks! More is in the queue...
Powerfully subtle and gently enchanting - this chapter is stunning even if there was practically no interaction between Hermione and Snape.
The way you revealed these utterly contrasting images of Severus in the different worlds he has been a part of is fascinating, to say the least.
I imagine the next chapter will reveal a great deal of feelings on Hermione's part to him... let's see what he makes of it.
Love your story, as always!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so, so much. I'm really glad you liked this chapter. It's one of my favorites because of all it shows about Severus, both from his own head and from the ways that others treat him.
And yes, I think Hermione's feelings will become clear here directly. :)
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
I like the interaction between Sev and Narcissa and how you portrayed her, or more, how he thought of her. That's how I picture her - keeping up appearances, but really a strong witch all in all - she had a lot of weight to bear.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad that Narcissa read well for you. She's a complex woman, and she was faced with a terrible burden.
Silly. Didn't think of that, did he?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Nope! But that's Severus. He was willing to think about all sorts of things, but never that people around him might want him. :)
Oh, yes--I saw that coming and hurt for her! Has it been hurting her, as well? Or she can simply see it? Please update soon!!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It's just visible. If it hurt (physically), she might take it off, and that would NOT be the purpose of the charm. ;) But I imagine it hurt her all the same. More soon! Thanks for reviewing!
Wicked, evil cliffy!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It is!! The nastiest one I've ever written. I apologize. ;)
“Not me, you sodding imbecile!..."
This was absolutely balm to my soul! So, so so so beautiful.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Hooray! I'm glad you liked it. I've always longed to have someone call Snape a sodding imbecile...
Severus better start talking fast. Things were going so well between them. They were bonding, and enjoying each other. He needs to be honest with her.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know; My beta wrote something at the bottom of this chapter like, "Severus you are in trouble now..."
But you know, a big reveal on her feelings might not be a terrible thing...
Ah, Severus is an idiot.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
He certainly can be. ;)
Oh poor Hermione what she must be thinking. I feel for them both, but more so Severus. This chapter like non other has brought into relief the fact that he is like the "man without a country". There is no world he is comfortable and accepted in not Muggle, Light nor Dark. I wonder when he will realize that his true home is in the arms of the one woman that truly loves him....Hermione'sWell Done AgainIrish
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, my dear. I'm glad you can sympathize with him in this chapter.
I love how Snape finally picked on Malfoy. There are so many times during the HPB that I just wish Harry would shut up and realise Snape is trying to help him. At leas now I know Hermione is trying to get him to realise that too!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for reviewing. :)
*squee* He kissed her!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
He did!! I'm glad you liked it. This chapter is one of my particular favorites.

I personally would have hexed him about thirteen ways to Sunday, but gawds do I love reading your story!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Often, as I write Snape, I'd like to hex him into next year. :) I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I love love love the way you portray Dumbledore. And Snape is so very much in character and I love how you show this vulnerable side of him.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
I read the first four chapters straight through, andI think you've captured the characters perfectly, not least the manipulative Dumbledore. The lovescene was really well-written - so glad that Hermione was just a little awkward and managed not to have multiple orgasms the first time. I'm sure things are going to get much darker as weprogress, and I'm looking forward to reading further.
