Reviews for Second Life
You keep on explaining things from canon that make me go, "She's right! That didn't make sense! And now it does!" You've turned Arthur's involvement into a very touching explanation of a knowing father and a protective husband, and you've managed to make Moody much more sympathetic than he is just about anywhere else (and a good deal smarter and braver).Leaving the marriage registration intact could well turn out to be a mistake, but I don't blame her for being reluctant to destroy it. After all, if something happens to her, that eliminates the initial reason she agreed to the marriage in the first place. And now there is so much more at stake. And by the way, your attention to detail continues to amaze me (at least, I assume that the bit about Fletcher, the thief who gets addressed in Muggle bars by the nickname "Mundy" is a purposeful little reference to Alexander Mundy from "It Takes A Thief,"...but then maybe it's just one of those lovely coincidences).Another bang-up chapter, filling in the gaps with your usual magnificent skill!

Thank you, my dear

. I'm glad you liked Arthur--he is one of my absolute favorite characters to write. I'm writing the marriage registration parts now--I hope they turn out to your satisfaction!Thank you, as always, for your reviews, which make it such a pleasure to keep going. xoxox
Good writing style and good way of weaving your thoughts into it and behind the scenes scene with it HBP compatiable... I loved what you have written - very interesting.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you are still enjoying it! :)
Arthur seemed to be pretty level headed about the kids not returning to school, convenient for them, tho. :)Lovely chapter, the story is moving along quite nicely!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I have to tell you, I love Arthur Weasley, so I may give him too much credit from time to time. I think he is the quietest and most perceptive of the Weasleys, and hence usually the first one to arrive at the appropriate conclusion. I'm glad the story is still reading well for you! More quite soon--
oh wow, what a story! Sev is so well crafted
This is the way that awful, last hp book should have turned out!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much, MillyG! I'm so glad you thought so. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing. *hugs*
When I read DH, I cried for Hermione and her parents and here I am crying again. This chapter was so profoundly sad for me. I love love LOVE your story and I look forward to and dread the updates. The dread comes from the anticipation of what may happen...not your writing!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
This is a very sad chapter, and I'm sorry for the tears. I can't imagine the level of bravery and compassion in Hermione to do what she did. Thank you so much for reviewing--I really appreciate it.
Absolutely brilliant!!!!! You are creating the story that I was hoping that book seven was going to be!! Can not wait for the next chapter! And yet again I want to tell you how terrific this is going so far!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad that it's living up to your expectations...I hope it stays that way! xoxox
Wow, this was really something. I'm glad Hermione understands why Severus had to do this. I think Hermione will make sure Severus lives, that way she can have a real marriage to him. I'm glad he told her where he lives, that way she can go there.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know this sounds dumb, because I wrote it, but I was really relieved, too, when he told her where he lived. :D
That's a beautiful, sad, emotional and breathtaking chapter!! They care so much about each other!Always your faithful reader.........
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm glad that shone through. :)
I am so impressed with how you are weaving canon into this story and making it your own at the same time. And the note he left her with at the end - gah, this story is so wonderful.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it.
I've only recently become a Snape/Hermione fan, and your story is so brilliant!! The best I haver read so far!! The dialogue and the twists and turns you are taking are so exciting I can hardly wait for the next chapter!! This is the first review I have ever done for a story because I just had to tell you!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much, Sunshinelove, and welcome to the good ship Severus/Hermione. :) If you're anything like me, you won't be able to get back to land. :) Thanks so much for reading Second Life and reviewing--I really appreciate your comments.
Another wonderfully intense chapter. As always, I look forward to reading more!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! More is in the queue!
I am increasingly impressed with your story! Snape assisting Hermione w/ her parents relocation is genius! ;) Though personally, I wouldn't have minded a longer kiss for the two ... ;) I am eagerly anticpating the next chapters!!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I am hearing the demands for kissing and speaking to the muse. LOL. Thank you so much--more is on the way.
I absolutely love how this story is so smoothly taking the seventh book into account and not destroying anything from the actual book but just going with the storyline. I wonder whether Hermione will ever go to Spinner's End?Looking forward to your next chapter!Kisses

Thank you! I'm glad the story is working along side canon for you. I know the answer to your question, but I'm not telling. muhahahah. More quite soon!
Superb manipulation, in both story line and dialogue
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!!
This was a truly heartbreaking chapter. I could feel Hermione's emotional stress at the thought of her parents leaving without any memories of her, and her childhood home being completely destroyed. And yet she still is able to see it done and carry on, for the sake of her best friend and her husband.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I don't think I could do it, if I were Hermione, but the girl is tough beyond what I could ever hope to be. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
Oh how sad - to take away her parents memory of her - can anything so complete ever truly be undone? I cannot wait to read the next chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
You know, I've always wondered that myself. Mucking about with people's minds has never seemed very safe to me. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. More soon...
This gives a good explanation as to why Hermione's parents were Obliviated. I know that Hermione is probably intelligent to think of this on her own, but I don't know if she could get her parents to agree to the plan or the guts to do so behind their backs. Hopefully Hermione won't have to go to Spinner's End, but I'm glad that Severus gave her the possibility. He did destroy her home.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thanks, I'm glad this fit for you into the scheme of canon. I agree that it was an awfully big Charm/duty to have to do on her own. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
I love this rewrite of HBP and DH. Love it, love it, loveit, I tell you!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm so glad! :)
The ending of this chapter, for some reason, made me do a mental 'aw'. :) Perfectly lovely.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Oh, no! Not the mental 'Aw'! LOL! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reviewing!
You made me cry! But don't apologize--a good story should make one cry. In my opinion, anyway!I'm not going to go on and on right now (I do that enough!) but let me just say that, a while back, I swore to never start a WIP again. (duh) And as super lightening fast as you get these chapters up (and write them ahead of time, to have a "couple in your pocket," as you said) it's still not fast enough for me! Which is amazing...I mean, if this was a printed and bound book, I would stay up all night long to finish it! But patience is a virtue my character is sorely in need of, so this is not necessarily a bad thing that I have to wait a few days between chapters! ;-)Oh yeah, one more thing: I clicked on your lj (link in your profile) and noticed you were inspired by "Falling Slowly" from the movie "Once"...and I nearly gasped out loud, because I have that whole album on my iTunes (LOVE it) and honestly, I was actually listening to that very song during one of the early chapters of this fic....and I remember thinking, "Wow, how appropriate." Especially the line: "You have suffered enough, and warred with yourself, it's time that you won." I remember thinking how that just fit Snape's character so perfectly! Sigh...anyway, there you go!I'm such a liar. Everytime I say I won't go on and on, I do. I think I have a condition.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
If you have a condition, it's one I very much appreciate. :)"Falling Slowly" was a major inspiration for this whole story, but for Chapter 15 in particular. I tend to go to music for the "feel" of a chapter or idea. A chapter I've been carrying around in my head for a very long time (possibly Chapter 28? I'm not there yet) is built around "If You Want Me" from Once. And yes, that line in particular is the essence of Snape for me. I'm so glad that we share that! Someday on my LJ, I'll do a whole list of the Second Life songs... :) Do you have an LJ? *Runs off to check*Thank you so much for your review!
Response from Georgiana (Reviewer)
Oh yeah, I can totally hear that song with Ch. 15 now....awesome. "If You Want Me" is probably my second or third favorite song from Once, so I'll be looking forward to that chapter, for sure. No, I don't have an LJ. I don't write, just like to read. Plus, I have a second graders' computer's skills: just enough to get by, but definitely not up to maintaining a shiny, pretty LJ. Actually, I guess most second graders COULD do that! I have a first grader, so only time will tell, I suppose ;-) Please do the list of Second Life songs eventually, because that would rock so hard.
This was an amazing chapter. This is how DH should have been written. Instead of reading boring chapters about hiding in the woods, something emotional and real as saving what was important to Hermione while having Severus use a Memory Charm on her parents is what should have filled the pages.Thank goodness you update so quickly or I'd have gone insane by now. beautifully written. I cannot wait for more.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much,
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
. I am so glad that this feels true to what you want from the story. I felt like DH was just so much bluster, so much "high adventure," where the other books had so much soul...More in the queue--I'll try to stave off insanity as long as I can. ;)
Oh wow! What a heart wrenching chapter! I just don't know what to say that would express just how much your writing amazes me. I am so excited to see where this story will go, how it will end, but at the same time I'm hoping that it will never end! (An irrational hope, I know!) It's so hard to believe that all Hermione salvaged was the box of Christmas decorations. I simply can't imagine all of the things, the pictures and all that together made that house a home being gone. It's devastating, really, but Hermione's a strong girl, I know she'll get through it. And, at least she still has the pictures she had with her at Hogwarts. Anyway, I absolutely cannot wait for more!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! Although I fervently hope that this story will end some day, I'm glad that you're in it with me for the long haul. :)I can only begin to imagine what someone would go through in essentially erasing her entire existance from her parents' memories and taking away all the tangible evidence of her own life in one fell swoop. It was devestating to write.
This chapter was heart wrenching. It was interesting to see the memory charm was accomplished. I look forward to the next chapter.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm sorry for the wrenching, but glad you enjoyed it. More is in the queue!
And so the war really begins.....sad, but Severus is correct the parents need to be out of the way.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
It is sad, isn't it, and yet there's so much more sadness to come. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
One of the frustrating things about DH -- so many incredibly dramatic things were happening that some of them could only be mentioned in passing, like the Obliviating of Hermione's parents. It's so incredible to read a version of how it might have happened in all that emotional detail, and the relationship between Severus and Hermione kicks into a higher gear, too. "Great chapter" seems kind of anticlimatic, but what else to say??
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm glad this chapter worked for you. :) Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! It means so much to me.
