This is a story inspired by the Tim McGraw song, "If You're Reading This." This is NOT a songfic. What happens when Hermione's dreams don't exactly turn out the way she had planned? Will she be able to deal with the hand that life dealt her?

I've been posting on here for a while and have decided to update my profile. I'm 30ish... I have a husband... I have two daughters... and other various creatures living at my house. My real life consists of work, fanfiction (which sometimes supercedes work), and chasing after my teen and tween.

i knew u were an exceptional writer. gj!
good cliffie! u missed correcting one (subtly)
A friend of mine on Tumblr recommenned your story. I have spend this evening reading you wonderful work. You had me laughing and in tears. Thank you so much for the wonderful story.
You never know what you'll get when you ask for a random story. It might be something a bit on the mediocre side, or an unfinished story, or something that is completely unforgettable. This one, my dear potterbrat, is a keeper! I really mean that, too. I've added it to the other fanfics I have copied over the years. Consider yourself in the august company of such writers as ladyofthemasque, Bambu, Sunny33, Chivalric, and Southern_Witch_69, just to name a few. Well Done! ^_^

To receive such kind words from an author that I respect is a huge boost to my ego. But to be included in the same sentence as the best of the best is both an honor and very humbling. Thank you so much.

This story makes me cry every time I read it.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
That gives me the impression that you've read it more than once. If that is the case, then I can't tell you how much that means to me. This was only my second novel-length, so it was pretty raw. Thank you for the review.~*potterbrat*~

Yes, I have read the story more than once. I usually go back over my favorites when I get bored with reading one shots. :)
That was a sweet and wonderful story. Thank you so much, your story really touched my heart. And yes I cried several times during the story.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)

That was beautifully done. I like the way everything moved along and we were able to see such a long expanse of time without getting lost in it. Thanks for a great story!

I just loved this story. It was beautiful and emotional. it had me crying in places and laughing as well. being 8 months pregnant and reading about this beautiful girl made me proud that i am having a girl!!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Oh, thank you!! Congratulations!! I have two girls (Paige-9, Jayde-13) and they are an absolute blessing. EXPENSIVE, but a blessing all the same!!

gosh darn it! you've got me crying again!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
I don't mean, too!! Just keep reading. You'll stop crying, eventually. Thanks for the review!!
wow...this story has me snivling all over my keyboard. yes, it is fluffiness personified but i am so enjoying it. i look forward to the last bits. love the scene with her and ron! thanks so much!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
You're a sweetheart! Thank you. I hope to have more up next week, but I'm not really sure. I have a very busy weekend, coming up so I don't know if I'll be able to get any writing in.

That was amazingly sweet. I really love this story.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Thank you, sweetie! I'm glad that you do.
I just love how Grace got to visit with her father. That is just so beautiful.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Thank you, love. I really wanted to give them a moment. Not so much for Grace, but for Ron. He deserved a moment, bless him.
You have me crying. AGAIN! Another wonderful chapter. I loved how Grace got to talk to Ron, and he was wonderful. People give Ron a lot of flack in fanfics, which I tend to get sick to death of. I'm happy that in this fic you haven't gone that tired route.
I also really liked Neville standing up to Severus. A great fanfic moment.
I look forward to more.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that I'm not the only person out there that still likes Ron. I think he's great for a laugh, which can make his hard to write sometimes. I hope to get some more out to you guys really soon. I know what I want to write, it's just the writing that gets me stuck. I will have a block for about two weeks, then suddenly, I can't stop writing. Utter MADNESS!

I am honnored that you thought my comment was worth weaving into your story, of course I don't mind G/F. I am so sorry to hear about your dog, I have a theropy dog so I really have an understanding of how close your relationship with a pet can be. I do hope you are feeling better.
I really enjoyed this chapter and was tickeled to death to see your A/N. *blushes*
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Well, thank you for your kind words about my "baby-bull." I appreciate that!
I was in the middle of writing the story, and for some reason the whole "poetic justice" thing kept popping into my head. I thought Snape might say something like that if the situation called for it, and BAM! there it was: the perfect situation. It was exactly what his little talk with Neville needed. I'm glad that you're pleased!

"Please, Weasley, I’m on my knees, begging you not to take her away from me"
"I can’t compete with you, Ronald. I’m here at your mercy, my friend. Please, don’t take her away from me. I beg you"
Sheer brilliance, these lines were my undoing, I blubbed like a baby, darn it!
I bow down to your brilliance and would award you 5 million stars if I could.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
I am grinning like kneazle here. I don't mean to be so pleased by your tears, but that's just the nicest compliment I could get as a writer. I'm also glad that you were particularly moved by those lines. I think Snape is the most fascinating and complicated character in the entire HP series. I believe that if he were in a similar situation in canon, he would battle with blaming himself and finding someone else to blame. That's why he called Ron a "bastard" and eventually referred to him as "my friend." Thank you for the stars and for the review!

Fantastic! I loved this chapter, even if I had to find a tissue to remove that hair that had gotten into my eye....
Update again soon!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Don't you hate that!! I had the same problem while I was writing some of this. Hmmm... maybe next time I'll issue a mascara alert. You know, for when our hair gets in our eyes. Hee hee!! I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Thanks for sticking with me.

I really liked the talk between Neville and Severus. Neville's really grown into his own - it's good to see he can't be intimidated that easily any more.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
I know. Bless his heart. This was my way of giving Neville and Severus an ending. I feel like he never had the chance to prove himself in canon. I'm glad you were able to see him the way I think he should be seen.
cheers!

This is such a great story. I am not ashamed to admit that I either cried or teared up several times while reading it. I look forward to more.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Please don't be ashamed. It just means that you grasped what the story is, and you've reacted in the exact way you were supposed to react. I hope to have more either this week or next. Thanks so much for reviewing!

There is a certain amount of poetic justice in Neville being a surgeon. Hmm, yes, Severus frightened him as a student now he frightens Severus as a Dr.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Hmmm.... yes, I thought so as well. I love it when things turn out this way, don't you? I think we will see yet another side of Severus Snape!!!

Very touching. It is rare to read a fic that shows Ron in such a mature light.Livvy
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
That is exactly why I wrote Ron this way. He deserves a little redemption for all the other fanfics that beat the hell out of him. I love his character, even though I don't think he and Hermione belong together. Thanks so much for the review.~potterbrat~

Loved the update:-) I must say that if Devon have the love and courage to ask Grace to marry him after being served death-treaths from Severus with the added promise of pain from her other relatives, he sure deserves her love (and hand in marriage).Update again soon!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Thank you so much. There are times when I've thought that my Snape is a little too sappy for his own good. I've always loved his subtle way of terrifying people, so I had to give him a chance to be himself. I am in the process of writing the next, so stay tune!

Thank you, darling! I am already working on the next chapter, so hopefully, you won't have to wait long. I'm hoping to have it out before the new year.
Snape was crying, I'm crying. It's all good. Lovely, absolutely lovely.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
is it wrong that your tears make me smile? Thank you so much for the review. Merry Christmas.
Hey g/f what a little gem of a story! Love the way you wrote Severus, and I 100% agree about your comment on parental love. Long live AU fanfiction!
