This is a story inspired by the Tim McGraw song, "If You're Reading This." This is NOT a songfic. What happens when Hermione's dreams don't exactly turn out the way she had planned? Will she be able to deal with the hand that life dealt her?

I've been posting on here for a while and have decided to update my profile. I'm 30ish... I have a husband... I have two daughters... and other various creatures living at my house. My real life consists of work, fanfiction (which sometimes supercedes work), and chasing after my teen and tween.

XD Such a sad development, but still rather humorous. Poor Severus... doomed to be haunted by Neville his entire life.
Great update, and I can't wait to read the real story behind the incident!

Wow, you can't end the chapter here?????? You better write fast and submit the next chapter very, very soon. It was a great update, very well written as usual, but you have used one of your most evil cliffhangers ever.... I want to know what happened, who, where, when, I want to know that Neville will save her and that Severus will get to look into his beloved daugthers eyes again in a not to distant future. Update, update!!!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Yay!!! Me? Use cliffies? Whatever do you mean? Bwahahahaha!!! You are so sweet to threathen *cough* beg me to update. I will -- I promise! The next one will be hard for me to write, so it might take a couple of weeks. Or, you never know, it could take me a couple of days! *shrugs*Thanks again, darling! ~*potterbrat*~

If I beg, will that make it days in stead of weeks? :-))
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Maybe!! I will try very, very hard to get it out. I might actually try to work on it tonight.

Severus really can't help himself, can he? Poor Harry.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
I know... I'm so sorry. I absolutely love Sev, but I love Harry as well. Than you so much for the review, and the continued support.

Neville showed a little sign of nervesiness but for the most part he seemed very professional and I like that. I know that Severus can't stand Harry but at least listen to your own son about what happened. Stop being such a git, Severus. Brian, honey, you have no ideal how bad your father can be. lol I wonder what is going on with Grace, I mean everything.

Sev is such a pain in the arse. Ugh!! He is completely unreasonable. I'm glad you liked my Neville. He had to grow up some time, and now he's in a position where Snape really needs to rely on him. Thanks so much for the review!~potterbrat~

For some reason I haven't read this til now. I wish I had,I have denied myself the treat of a really good read, but on the other hand I get to read the story when it's nearly complete. This is excellent writing, a story that I think everyone would enjoy. In this first chapter I see the characters the way I wish they had been written. Can't wait till the story is complete and I am going to look for your other work, as well.

You're a sweetie! Thank you so much. There are so many HG/SS fans, including myself, that I think Ron gets pretty beaten up in FF. I didn't want to do that to him. I wanted him to have a little dignity when he died. I've heard that people who are deaf, are able to hear a little better right before they die. So MY Ron can see a little better before his death. He's sees Snape for the man he really is.~potterbrat~

Let's all hear it for the rational approach. Sometimes that is all you can do--stand your ground, hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Once in a while, the best actually happens.

I agree completely! I'm glad you understand my Severus Snape! Thanks so much for the review!~potterbrat~

How amazingly sweet. My husband asked my Mom for my hand. Then I had to pretend she hadn't called me and told me, then next day when he proposed. At the place we had our first date.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Oh, that is so sweet. See! It's the place that's special to both of you. And I don't think it necessarily has to be a physical place. When I first started dating my husband, I had told him how much I liked the way Elvisproposed to Pricilla. He picked her up and sat her on the counter, gave her a ring and said, "We're gettin' married, baby." Two years later, my husband did the same thing and used the same words. He knew that would mean something special to me. Not so much the proposal itself, but the fact that he remembered what I'd said, meant quite a bit. Oh, goodness, I'm getting lost in my memories!~potterbrat~

Poor Severus its so hard to be Headmaster. And Albus man is he funny. A portrait and still twinkling. lol It's so cool that Devon gets his mother. What a good son. He is going to make an awesome husband.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
I'm so glad you commented on Devon's understanding of his mother. Luna is one of my favorite HP characters. I believe she's got all of this outside flakiness on the outside, but she's a very deep thinker and loving friend. Thanks so much for the review!~potterbrat~

I love HG/SS stories above all others. And among those there are a special few that provide unexpected gems, often involving other characters, that give the story a deep richness not otherwise anticipated. This is one such story. From the very beginning I could see that you were putting something extra into it. I have enjoyed it every step of the way. Your descriptions of Luna and Draco in this chapter are touching and charming. I almost wish there was a story of their courtship to read along with this one. Thanks for posting, JoAnne

Thank you so much! That review put tears in my eyes. Just for that, I will write a companion piece for Draco and Luna just for you. Give me a couple of weeks, and I'll get it on here. I already have a title in mind. ~potterbrat~

Way to go g/f! I loved how you did the whole 'blessing/permission' thing. Very true to life.
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Thank you, doll! It actually is sort of true life. When my husband asked my dad for his blessing fifteen years ago, my dad gave him permission. My husband told him "thanks, but I actually wanted your blessing." We've got two daughters now, and I can't imagine my husband giving his blessing or his permission... LOL!!~potterbrat~

Good to see Severus being sensible, even if he'd rather not think about her little girl marrying!
Response from potterbrat (Author of Saving Grace)
Yep, he's turning into a great big teady bear!
