Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
They finally used each other's names! And you wrote is so beautifully! That Dumbledore... I mean, it's an excellent cliffie, but with both Severus and Hermione to figure out a way around the problem, Dumbledore and Voldemort don't stand a chance!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, they finally did it, didn't they? LOL!And Dumbledore, well--I feel his pain, I really do.
Oh please, don't let Hermione start to fear him now??? I don't think my heart could take it, if she thought he means to go through with it.Wow, what a gripping story and what a gripping chapter:)Fizzabella
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. Gripping is a good word. This thing has me by the throat. Sometimes I can't breathe!
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. . . what shall he do? Oh. . . now I'm so worried. . . but he won't kill her! He can't! Hermione dead. . . I. . . just no. It won't happen. I know it won't.Anyway, this story is as amazingly, emotionally, deliciously good, and I await the next chapter with no little impatience.Thank you so much.~Katie

Each chapter is getting more difficult to write, but be assured, they will be written and posted. Thank you so much!
What a great chapter! I'm all agog to find out what happened to Slytherin's bed...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh yes, there's still much to be learned about that bed!
Dumbledore's an idiot, he can't see what's right in front of him. Severus is not going to kill Hermione, no matter who tells him to.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Severus has always done what DD expects him to. Dumbledore is not pleased, not at all.
Oh. Wow. That was just -- fantastic. I can think of no better word to describe this chapter.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
*!pounces!*You updated!!! I'm glad she didn't get broth, and she did get smex. Cuz that's love, right there! Loved that whole scene, and the fact that she gets giggly. Because of course I'm believing it was the healing potion that did it. Yeah, of course it was. Uh-huh. Couldn't possibly be the fact that he practically-almost-but-not-quite-it-was-there-in-the-subtext said he loves her. No. Couldn't be that. (AAwwwww!! Squee!)
Poor Severus, though. Now he's got two masters telling him to kill her. Which, psh! Not gonna happen. You can't fool me. However, I have to theories that I would like your input on. The first has to do with a bezoar and Dobby, or perhaps one of the boys, or even Ginny. Or Crookshanks as he is by no means your usual housecat. Do you see where I'm going with this? Am I close?
The second has nothing to do with the poisoning and is simply a question of Hermione's advanced powers. She seems to have gained her new level of magical power only after she married Severus, he soul mate. This would seem to suggest that exposure to him has unlocked a part of herself previously kept in check or simply that she was unable to access on her own. Now the issue of her not manifesting power until she was already accepted at Hogwarts makes me wonder--what if it was not so much an issue of permission as it was one of proximity? Could it be that the day she and her parents went to Diagon Alley to get her supplies a certain potions master was also there? Could even a brief moment of exposure finally have allowed her to channel her tardy magic?I'm assuming that this is why Hermione wanted the book on early childhood magic. Or at least one of the reasons since I'm also assuming that her interest in soul mates and the pensieve had as much to do with her and Sev as it did with the Horcruxes.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You ask so many questions! And answers should be forthcoming in future chapters.
Thank you for the amazing review!
Response from crazywriterchic (Reviewer)
Which is your way of saying you're not gonna tell me. *sigh* I suppose I'll just have to learn patience.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I wish I could finish writing this and post it all today. I'm not patient, either! But I'm trying!
He absolutely cannot kill her!!! Please find a way around it. I think Dumbledore is overestimating Voldemort. He thinks that all his Death Eaters are unswervingly loyal to him and therefore would never think that Severus would use a potion to mimic death.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I don't think Dumbledore is overestimating Voldemort, and understand why he is furious at seeing 20 years' work at risk when (in his opinion) it didn't have to be that way. Dumbledore is a ruthless general, as we know from DH.
Wow...that was the best chapter yet. Absolutely amazing.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very much!
Way to go, Hermione! Aw, darn, I want a Snape to myself...*sighs*. He's in for a rollercoaster with her, isn't he?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think we all want a Snape, although I'm not sure we'd want to live with him. Maybe just take him off the shelf occasionally? Okay, often?
"My darling boy" !!!!! Oh, I giggled like a mad woman when I read that! You are bloddy brilliant!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you--I loved that, myself!
*lol*I'll love to see how this is going to continue...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, thank you! I'm thrilled that you think so!
Wow, great chapter with a good arguement between Albus and Severus. I wonder what he has planned?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.
"My—my mind told me you weren't. And my—my heart told me you weren't. But some other part of me was very afraid that you might be."That line just screams of honesty. Its that niggling little voice in the back that makes us doubt what we should not.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, because he'd just told her that he'd tear the castle apart to bring her back to his bed--yet, she still was afraid. And I understood that.
Gosh this chapter was hard to read. It hurt my heart! All the suffering and pain needed for their relationship. Ahhhhhh Do you promise me a happy ending post voldy defeat? Promise?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
(I cried when I wrote this chapter.)
Alright I will forgive Albus for his wretched behavior at the Order meeting but I am still pissed about it.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Albus is... difficult to anticipate.
Ah well yes. There are other satisfying things that are not stricktly speaking intercourse. Take that Percy!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! Indeed!
This is my most favorite line of the chapter "Hell, he'd absorb her straight into his skin if he could" It is so moving and powerful! Will he confess to Hermione her upcoming death?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much. (And by now I know you've read the next chapters and already know the answer to your question!)
"You've got to stop making it so obvious that you worship the ground that damn wizard walks on." Your Hooch cracks me up every damn time she opens her mouth! As always the conversations with Voldy were chilling. Snape has secured Hermione's saftey as her
Executioner.
Some how knowing it is Percy who is feeding the sordid details of their sex life makes it even more icky.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, yes. PERCY. Gads, will somebody do something about that twit? And I adore Hooch, I really do.The Dark Lord? Oh my.
I liked Bella all glamored up. I was glad Severus was able to take her down a peg with his questioning. 10 points to your house for an excellent witchy name: Pendragon Parkinson. Don't hate me but I do adore a drunken, smoking Snape. Somehow that just fits him.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You and I are on the same wavelength. Bella in Glam and Sev drunk and smoking? Guilty pleasures.
Love this story!! I think I know what Hermione is up to with the bed but can't be sure...can't wait to find out!!Great story!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Hopefully you'll find out very soon, since the next chapter is in the queue!
Love this chapter...Love the fact that Hermione doesn't care who hears a howler...she really lets them have it...way to go!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! The Howlers were so much fun!
Damn, this one snuck past me while my router was down, but at least I've caught it now. Still a bit confused as t what she was doing, but patience will e rewarded, I hope. Great chappy, Hermione is not the world's best patient, is she? Fancy discharging herself A.M.A., lets hope she has a few drama free hours in which to recouperate, not oo long though, we need more drama, intrigue and suspense. Hopefully I'll catch the next update!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The next chapter is in the queue! Thank you!
I am glad that the dark poison was removed and that Hermione is basically all better. I wonder if the poison would have been removed if she had kissed Severus. Or would it have spread to him? It seemed strange that she had a desire to kiss him, but that could just be her normal desire for him.Hopefully we'll learn why the bed attacked Hermione and not the others. It's not like they all were Slytherins, purebloods, or Death Eaters.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Her desire to kiss him was partly, yes, that she always wants to kiss him (snerk) but also being a bit delirious!
The answer as to why the bed attacked her and not the others is ahead!
I love this! Can I gush anymore? I nearly had a heart attack when I read" Well, that was borderline psychotic." It made me laugh so hard that I had to stop reading for a while. I can't wait to finish each and every chapter.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! I'm so glad you liked that line! I mean, it is pretty weird. On the other hand, in world with polyjuice potion, I am surprised they don't all hold onto every hair and fingernail clipping!
