The Dark Lord has fallen, but an even more terrible force has arisen to take over the Ministry of Magic – the Pink Lord. Ruling with an abundance of ruffles and terrifyingly sharp stiletto heels, Umbridge’s Think Pink Brigade terrorizes a populace grown weary of decrees designed to enforce sweetness. Unexpectedly, Hermione Granger joins the resistance, the sarcastically snarky Back in Black. Award winner.

I am a longtime fanfic fanatic, having entered the realm via Buffydom. One day I read a Willow/Severus crossover and I was hooked – on Snape that is! He's been in every HP story I've done so far.
I write in multiple fandoms on LJ, esp. BtVS and Firefly. If you're interested in reading my fic for other/crossover fandoms, it can be found at:

Reviews for Back in Black
What a great banner and “Then I suppose I shall have to do it again.” OMG!!!!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the last line! I've been so lucky to have all these wonderful banners made for me!
This is fantastic! I love the idea of the Think Pink brigade v. Back in Black (do you watch that segment on the Daily Show?) The constant back and forth with the twins is slightly hard to read, but Snape's advances are pitch perfect. Please update soon.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the symbolism of the colors! I don't have cable, but I've heard great things about the Daily Show!
Some expert use of Snape's expressions there- at times they seemed to be in lieu of speech.I love his last line! But how will he appear in public if he can't wear black? Or maintain a Proper Smile? (I just can't picture it!) Or is Polyjuice enough to manage both?
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the way SS can show a lot with just his expressions!
As for him in public - it's coming!
You've created a very amusing upside-down wizarding world where the BiB gang seem to play like so many naughty children. Keep it up, please.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the world herein!
Hermione wants to be touched again, and he didn't deny the affection. Everything's on track with the romance. As for the resistance, it's time they find something realy effective. Their actions look more like pranks than coups d'Etat until now.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the romance angle.
You're right - they haven't done much yet. Wonder what it is they've been missing? (grins)
Lets see, what could be more elequent than my first thought of "OMG OMG OMG! I LOVE IT!"? well, whatever that is, consider it inserted here! :-)
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so really you enjoyed the chapter!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Really glad that is!
Black feels wonderful in this story. The introductory pink madness was sending shivers down my spine. I don't understand the sexual references in Umbridge's policy though. Contraceptive potions are contraband, displays of affection are prohibitted, hence one assumes that sex is acceptable only as means of getting pregnant, yet Marion says that she would die had she become pregnant. Am I to presume that Umbridge has artificial breeding facilities that provide future generations of Proper Witches and Wizards? Just like Hitler had?
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter!
The Mediwitches telling Marion she can't get pregnant is because Marion has a medical condition (I'm drawing a parallel to real life with this one). But otherwise, you're on the right track - Umbridge is outlawing any kind of affection and restricting sex to married couples.
*gasp*
I'll write a coherent review at some point when I can breathe again. For now, just know that you're brilliant. :-)
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm amazingly glad you enjoyed the chapter!
And thank you for the wonderful banner!
Yowza! Dip your finger in Potion # 2 while you're at it, babe!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the UST!
Going entirely against political correctness here, all I can say is *squeeeee*. This story, just like Ladder, is completely unique. Not only that, but it's well written, the plot is awesome, the Pink issue is... *shakes head in disbelief*... absolutely unique. I'm very relieved you've not taken up shrimp coloured pink!
And just in case it doesn't show up as 5 stars, please let me know because in that case it would be a computer glitch *snicker*
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you're enjoying the story! And that iron thing is a thing of the past! (hee!)
Thanks for saying it's so original!
No computer glitches here! (snicker)
Ooh, the best way to be subversive is to be seductive. Go Snape! Fred and George--hilarious! Aother great one.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter and the use of sex as subversion!
I do love this story. And Snape all teamed up with a bunch of Gryffindors, and not even complaining about it, all for the good of the whole Wizarding World. It's really quite fabulous.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter and that SS is once again putting up with Gryffs for a higher cause!
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha! It's all too good! Headless streakers--courtesy of their vanishing head hats, I bet, and the black pubes--stroke of brilliance. I'm glad he's flirting with her intentionally and not just because it's breaking the law.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter and the flirting! Well spotted on the twins' use of hats!
Holy cow! Too funny! I found this story while reading the WIKTT boards...I love this premise. Pink Lord. HA HA! Can't wait to see what Snape and Co. have in store for ol' Umbridge.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you've enjoyed the story so far!
The last line in this chapter is the perfect naughty cliffhanger -- I think it underscores the entire piece with remarkable finesse. This is ever so much more engaging than I expected when I first started reading. You've a true talent, that much is certain.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter and the last line - and that the story is engaging!
I love it!!!!! I see Severus is starting to put the moves on Hermione too.....
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter and the flirtation!
That's too funny! I loved the pranks they played on the Pinkies! Yay for the Black Pack! May they Darken Doors, Initiate Intimacy, and Seriously Scowl wherever they may go! Great work! Update soon, okay?
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter and the pranks! Nicely spotted that sex is one way to undermine Umbridge!
*dances* The only complaint I have is that your chapters are so short. But that's ok, because you update so often I don't mind as much. Have I told you lately that I love this story?
BTW, I bet the reason behind the PDA decrees is because Umbridge is jealous. She's such a cow no one would want to touch her "affection" in public.
Response from Shishkeberry (Reviewer)
*sigh* I meant for that to say 'with "affection"'.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter! I tend to be a very concise writer, so even though they're short, I hope you enjoy all the stuff I try to cram in!
Fred and George streaking with Engorgement Charms. Now there's something you don't see every day! (Thankfully.) What a perfect stunt, and on the perfect day for it!
“You seem awfully enthusiastic about a Contraceptive Potion, Ms. Granger.” His voice is cold and distant once more. “Is there someone you’re hoping to test it with?”
Ha! I see he jumped to the same conclusion I did! And didn't like it one bit, which is all to the good.
“Then I suppose I shall have to do it again.”
This really isn't the sort of story where one expects to suddenly melt, but oh my that line did it.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter and the twins' stunt! And the last line!
Ooooh...nice developments since I last checked. Excellent SS/HG interaction, as usual, and great visuals for the stunts! Greatly looking forward to seeing what this pair can come up with!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the recent chapters and the way things are going!
One can only hope that the Twins were using an Engorgement charm. I'm glad they went with black dye, pale pink #4 would have been too much
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter and the use of Black pubes as a protest!
Love reading each chapter.
When its complete I'll ship it to the husband person.
Thank you.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story and I hope the hubby does as well!
Truly the most ridiculous story I have read in a very long time. The utter absurdity of all that Pink, lace, and smiling is atrocious! I find it difficult to not simply laugh out-loud while reading... Keep up the EXCELLENT work! ;)
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm very glad that you're enjoying the story so much and that you find this world is both hilarious and atrocious!
This is excellent! I love it! I saw this pimped as the HP version of "A Handmaid's Tale" or "1984" and it actually IS. I eagerly await your next chapters!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm really glad that you're enjoying the story! Yes, 1984 is a direct influence! More soon.
What an Orwellian world. Gives me cold shivers, and I actually like pink (although, if I were required to wear it every day--eeewww). I'm curious as to what Percy actually did; and what Hermione did to require her to do Community Service.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Back in Black)
Thanks! I'm so glad that you liked the chapter! In this world everyone does community service - it's not a punishment. What Percy did was in chapter 3:"His ambition finally caused him to overstep. He’d written and posted Decree 114, which dictated the size of Proper Smiles. The problem? He’d mandated that they be a larger size than Umbridge thought seemly, so she’d had him Pinked within the hour."
