If you care about canon continuity, you've made a little mistake. You have Hermione going to Charms and Malfoy going to Potions at the same time. It's been a big deal through the entire HP series that Gryfs and Slytherins have Potions together. All you need do is change Malfoy telling Snape that he is going to Charms, too ... this also makes more sense, since Snape would know if the Slytherins were due in Potions.

You seem to have teenage conversation down pat. I can just picture Hermione's interactions with her friends and her un-friends. Unfortunately I can also picture the cupcake knickers. Severus is cute when he is uncertain and needy.

I based Lavender on someone I knew in High School, and Hermione acts just as i did in the scence. I've always felt akin to Herms... us brainy brunettes... :)
Very amusing that each took a moment to gloat--Hermione because she remembered the events and Severus did not, and Severus because of his (almost) sexual prowess. I also love the next scene with the buttons. In my humble opinion I think describing clothing being unbuttoned is sexier than clothing being ripped off.

A very good point about the buttoning, especially for those of us who have read all the fan fic starring the unbuttoning of Snape's frock coat! ;)

Thanks for reading. I did realize that he was too good to be true in this passage. Many people say Hermione's too logical for daydreams, but come ON! She's a girl for crying out loud. i look back at these sections and slap my forehead and am tempted to scream, "CLICHE, CLICHE, CLICHE!!!!" and therefore I have tried really hard to make them more unique, justified and somewhat canon in later chapters. Stay tuned for more finely tuned writing!

The title of the story, it sounds a little ominous, is there a happy ending?? death-marked to me kinda means its being marked for well.. death...? I can't reveal much except that I got the phrase from the prolouge of Romeo and Juliet. I can say, however, that it DOES NOT end like that story. I am so happy you like Snape!
