variety challenge

Student at California State University of Los Angeles. Currently studying Law and Society Sociology and Criminology while hovering in graduation limbo.

I enjoy writing simple poetry about love, life, and betrayal; either about myself or those closest to me.
Notice! December 2, 2010:
This site is amazing. The numerous reviews and reads I have received here has been beyond humbling. However as I have gotten older, RL has taken main priority to reading and writing fanfic. Any tiny fraction of personal time I am able to indulge myself has been spent in the fandom, but I must admit it had been dwindling more and more. I will NEVER abandon anything I have begun, and attempt to finish my WIPs every day. However, like many authors, I have made the mistake of submitting my work to more archives than I am capable of maintaining with the care that is due them. If I am able and time willing, I might continue to update my fics here, but my main priority lies elsewhere. MODERATED ARCHIVES ARE A BLESSING AND NECESSARY FOR QUALITY FIC. I stand by that. Unfortunately submitting my fics to various moderated archives means more time necessary to edit the various mistakes each individual archives will find in my work. My fics will continue to be updated at Ashwinder and Potter Place Archives, anywhere else will have to take a back seat. This is my problem and I take full responsibility. Thank you for reading, reccing, voting, and reviewing my fics on The Petulant Poetess!

I'm loving this. But when Severus said 'I lied', what did he actually lie about? Did i miss something? x

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Very happy you are enjoying it. He lied about 'not giving a toss' as to what Hermione has to say. Next chapter finally complete and on its way. Thanks for the review!

So basically, confusion all around. Nice to see some people questioning their motives and working if not precisely together at least in parallel.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Parallel, indeed! Glad you caught some of that. Thanks for the read and review!

Drats, I missed lemons.  Otherwise great chapter.  Mean cliffie though.  Update soon, preferably with enough lemons to make us pucker up!

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

You know that they say... to much of a good thing...But don't worry. I very much enjoy lemons myself. Next update won't be far off. Thanks for the read and review!

Menacing, bad-tempered, tightly controlled, yet suddenly explosive Severus...oh, yeah.  Reading your Snape makes me feel like I'm discovering him for the first time.  And the explanation of why Voldemort's name injures him each time it's spoken is logical and compelling.   I love how you've got him appearing, Lugosi-like, wherever Hermione happens to be.  And her character is so well-drawn--as curious, courageous, intelligent, and kind as JKR made her, yet with something extra...call it lust.  Speaking of which, that unbelievably sordid scene at the brothel was wicked sharp.  And poor Pansy.  Her story is really touching.  Great writing, both delicate and fierce as needs be, and so interestingly plotted.  I'm anxiously awaiting your next chapter.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

I do love a Snape who appears whenever and wherever he wants to. I am trying to expose who he is, inside and out, so all of the feedback I have been getting on his character is rewarding. So I'm very happy that you are enjoying this story, as well as the sub-plots. More on all of this next chapter.Thank you for the read and review!

OK, I didn't review every chapter individually but I thought this was another good spot to stop for 'review'.As said before, I'm totally enjoying this story. I really like the fullness of it, meaning the multiple characters, mulitple plots, etc. It's a novel in itself. I personnally don't mind the AU of it at all, and honestly, I wish DH had been written a little more like this so it could have been a better story (I know, the blasphemy of not liking #7 - well, what can I say... I was disappointed and I'll leave it at that). I also like how Hermione kept something from DD with the stealing of the pocket watch - makes her not so perfect, which nobody is, as well as Snape's constant battle within - it shows he's certainly not all light and fluffy underneath it all and I wouldn't expect him to be. By the way... thus far all descrips of Snape make him simply Hot! :) And Harry's 'human-ness' is nice to see too. Not some totally OOC mean Harry, just human. Anyway, keep up the great work! Looking forward to continued reading.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

I too have found myself preferring to read AU stories instead of DH compliant. It WAS disappointing, so I perfectly understand your criticisms.I'm glad that you decided to continue reading this story! I hope you continuing enjoying the chapters to come.Thank you for the read and review!

Pushing her away with one hand; dragging her to him with the other, until he realises he feels better when he drags her to him constantly: that's how I see Severus and Hermione's relationship.

BTW what does "you're down to ninety-seven" means?

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

That is how I see this relationship as well.So much is said and done in this story, so I'm not surprised details are difficult to remember. Go back to Chapter Thirteen to understand her last line! And thank you for the continuous reads and reviews!

Response from septentrion (Reviewer)

Ah, yes, I've found the reference? My, she's very generous.

He's a MAN no wonder he's stubborn, difficult, hard headed, willful and annoying.  I could make a few suggestions on why women keep men around, but it might mess with plot bunnies (or enhance them lol).  As usual a great ride in the H.P. world.  Thanks for writing!

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

LOL, yes. He's all that and more. Thanks for the read and review!

The next chapter has just been sent to my beta. Considering the turn over, it should be up in about a week, so keep an eye out. Thanks for the read and review!

Wow! Very dark and twisted but I completely enjoyed the trip into Snape spy world. I had to stop reading for a minute cuz it was a little overwhelming ut definitely not in a bad way. You have captured a very dark man's very dark situation exceptionally well. Great writing.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Thank you! This has been one of my favorite chapters to write, so it's wonderful when it stands out to the reader. And dark, indeed, is one word that adequately describes this whole story.Thank you for the reads and reviews!

Throughly enjoying the story. I guess I'm not noticing any slow development myself because, as a whole, I am intrigued as to what's coming next. I thought it was kinda funny, as the reader, to consider Sirius as a little slimey when he was talking with Hermione, and figured Snape thought the same while watching the exchange, yet for some reason I have no problem considering Serverus being a little swarmy with regards to his student - must be the acceptability within the ff world that I'm used to :)

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

I myself think Severus and Hermione are so natural together, and have to remind myself, "No! That's her professor!"Maybe the naughtiness of the relationship is what I find so appealing. =PThanks for the read and review!

The Death Eaters are certainly active and Dumbledore is at his manipulative best. Poor Remus. He is just too tender hearted to be a werewolf. Hermione is miserable, but so is Snape. I will be anxiously looking forward to the next chapter.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Next chapter submitted to queue! Both Hermione and Severus are miserable indeed. We'll see if they find a solution next chapter.Thank you for the dedicated reads and reviews!

Satai Delenn

Wow. Is his life connected to that pocket watch? If the pocket watch stops ticking, will he?

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Very good!Your questions are right on target.Thank you for the read and review!

10/10

Satai Delenn

Wow. He's such an enigma in this. I'm not sure what to make of him. I'm so confused, lol. I've read a lot of Snape stories, and loved many, but I must say, I don't recall reading one where he's portrayed like this. I am finding myself NEEDING to read on in hopes of understanding him, not just wanting to read on.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

An enigma I have attempted to portray.I'm glad you enjoyed it so far. Thanks for the read and review!

10/10

sinbad

Wow, you certainly had that chapter hopping.  everyone has woes to deal with, but Pansy seems to be less than thrilled with the ideas of death eaters taking action.....

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Pansy wasn't the only Slytherin who was less than thrilled!More next chapter.Thank you for the read and review!

Wonderful chapter, and the ideas about Greyback are well within cannon.  Kind of scary too.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Glad you enjoyed it! More of Greyback to come. Thanks for the read and review!

Won't she be embarrassed if it isn't Ginny at the door? Looking forward to the second half of this chapter.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

The next half is making its way through queue and should be up shortly. The tone of it, however, takes a complete turn. I hope I still have readers after it.Thank you for the continues reads and reviews!

Uh oh, Severus is not going to be pleased with her.

And what's this dream that the Headmaster just had? This makes me curious for more. I like how you get into his head.

--PAS

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

In the beginning of the chapter, he told Harry that he wanted to be cautious about who he fingers as the next Dark Lord. He thought he was so sure before, but he was wrong. The dream was when he discovered he was wrong.I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the review!

I've just read all chapters posted thus far and all I have to say it wonderful and brilliant job, and I eagerly await new chapters.

Wonderful!  I'm dying to know what's going on -- you do such a great job of giving a little here and a little there -- there are so many different mysteries going on.  Excellent chapter!

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Yes, SO many mysteries. I'm excited that you are enjoying the way I am chipping at them. Thank you for the read and review!

What a great chapter, very moving to see Dumbledore as human and capable of making mistakes.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

You give such attention to detail.  Harry picking at the paint.  Hermione's auburn quill.  It adds richness to the images building in my mind.Everyone seems to be playing with fire.  Harry is making such a mistake by responding to Lavender's attentions if his heart is somewhere else.  The evolving love between Remus and Pansy has doom written all over it. With your descriptions, I expect Severus and Hermione to spontaneously combust any moment now.You are giving us tantalizing hints about who is or isn't the next Dark Lord.  I can see why Voldemort would be very interested in Sirius.  Anyone who can come back from the dead knows something that Tom is going to want.Erm, you mention Tom's Dairy instead of Diary.  I know how that goes.  When I write, my brain sees what it expects, not what's there. Thanks for this new chapter.  A good story is worth waiting for, no matter how long it takes.

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

I write what I see in my mind, so I am excited that you are enjoying it! More of Voldemort's interest in Sirius coming up. But dammit! I hate weird typos like that. I'll have to fix that as soon as I have a chance. Thanks for pointing it out.Thank you for the dedicated reads and reviews!

10/10

mmesnape

This was a very interesting chapter to read.  We have four distinct paths, running paralle to each other... I assume that these will be intersecting at some point in future chapter.  The 'Sirius' section is the most intriguing.  The Harry/LavLav thingy... shakes head* Why is he doing this?  How thick can he be about his own emotions?  Argggh!  Lmao  Good chapter!  PS, hope your UNI exams go well, cheers and good luck!

Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)

Good guess with the eventual intersecting, but we'll see. I'm glad you are enjoying this story. Thank you for the well wishes and the wonderful review!
