With the climax of the next great battle drawing near, the key players who have the ability to halt or bring about potential destruction take center stage, as they always have in every great war since time began. And Dumbledore knew all this, but not when it truly mattered. Eventual SS/HG. Alternate Universe, HBP death disregarded.

I enjoy writing simple poetry about love, life, and betrayal; either about myself or those closest to me.
Notice! December 2, 2010:
This site is amazing. The numerous reviews and reads I have received here has been beyond humbling. However as I have gotten older, RL has taken main priority to reading and writing fanfic. Any tiny fraction of personal time I am able to indulge myself has been spent in the fandom, but I must admit it had been dwindling more and more. I will NEVER abandon anything I have begun, and attempt to finish my WIPs every day. However, like many authors, I have made the mistake of submitting my work to more archives than I am capable of maintaining with the care that is due them. If I am able and time willing, I might continue to update my fics here, but my main priority lies elsewhere. MODERATED ARCHIVES ARE A BLESSING AND NECESSARY FOR QUALITY FIC. I stand by that. Unfortunately submitting my fics to various moderated archives means more time necessary to edit the various mistakes each individual archives will find in my work. My fics will continue to be updated at Ashwinder and Potter Place Archives, anywhere else will have to take a back seat. This is my problem and I take full responsibility. Thank you for reading, reccing, voting, and reviewing my fics on The Petulant Poetess!
Reviews for Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy
Love this story. Really liked the Hermione and Pansy bit. One thing I really didn't understand though was what Sev's prob was. In the morning when he got mad and also in the afternoon ?? Is he mad because she tells him basically that he can have her whenever he wants - which doesn't really make sense so I think I am way off the mark there - or is he just worried he will have to deal with some little stomping school girl if HE rejects HER someday?? I just don't get his anger.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
In my very humble opinion, I believe Severus has lived the majority of his life selfishly, and in the moment. Now he is becoming involved with someone who is much younger than him, openly emotional and continuously talking about the future. He wants her, but doesn't want to get comfortable either.Hopefully, future chapters will explain this better! Thanks for the review!
Wonderful chapter.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Thank you =)
Wonderful chapter. Maybe Pansy and Remus are ment to be together. Hermione and Severus seem to be on target as well.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the review!
Hmmm . . . last scene . . .Edgar Allen Poe?
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I wish my inspiration for that scene was that intelligent! But no, it's much more... juvenile =P.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter. I hope to see it soon.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I hope it should be added very soon as well.I've been working on the next chapter for what feels like forever, and now it was reached 8,000 words but I still feel it needs some work. But it should be added very soon!Thank you for the review!
I really love this story, esp. the tribute to All Dogs Go to Heaven. And esp., esp. the dark and dangerous Snape, when most fics I read make him fluffy.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Not very many got the connection to All Dogs Go to Heaven (which was surprising!). For a child's animation, there were many dark themes that were somewhat disturbing, which I found useful. But I do adore reading Dark!Snape, and have found writing him just as pleasurable. Fluffy Snape can be enjoyable here and there if it's written well, but it's not what I prefer.I'm very glad you are enjoying my story! Thank you for the wonderful reviews and author fav!
I love the "Oh, how lovely" line! This is such great work!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Glad you liked the chapter!
Wow, this is remarkable! I'm at a loss for words... other than, wow.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it.
1st - like how the "kids" found DD's speech to seem predestined and that some of them are seeing him (kind of in the way I saw him in canon) as someone who may have his eye only on the big picture with not-so-much regard for how it affects others along the way.2nd - I like how Harry is becoming more calm and together, and again, it makes me think of DD and his "big picture" plans and wonder if maybe he IS becoming to erradict with everyone else's livelihood, not taking anything into account EXCEPT the final outcome and if that's true, how it will affect everyone else when all is said and done - interesting.3rd - back to Snape... again he seems like he is affected by Hermione and wants her around but it also seems that as soon as he realized he still had her (his sigh of relief), he went right back to that apathetic-ness, almost taking for granted that she really would just always be there, and maybe she will but I almost would like to see him put in his place for his smugness and have to deal with the fact that he truly doesn't want to loose her - or is he really that disconcerned, knowing that all he has to do is 'want to forget her' to be able to do so? or is he fooling himself and if that day comes he won't be able to forget her, want or no??Keeping it very interesting! Great work.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Harry is being led by Dumbledore in more ways than one and doesn't know enough about this great rivalry with the use of his own heart and mind. Your questions tie into that very closely.... Severus... sigh... he has issues.lolThere is much he wonders about, much he is not accustomed to worring about, and much he doesn't want to even bother to think about. We will see how their relationship progresses.Thank you for the read and wonderful review!
Snape seems just as apathetic, or maybe just slightly less so, about Hermione as he is with everything else. Very interesting Snape indeed and IMO a very believable one - not only with what we know in canon but also how truly well this characterization works with this story. You've made his psyche that much more mezmorizing - great writing.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Writing Severus' characterization and the effects the other characters are having on him is my favorite part of this story. There are still a few more things that are yet to be revealed and I do hope you will enjoy it.Thank you for your read and review!
enjoying so far

Thank you ;)
Stumbled across this story but I'm so very glad I did. Absolutely loving it and I can't wait for more chapters.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
More chapters coming!Glad you enjoyed it =) Thanks for the read and review!
I decided to reread this story, and when I saw this chapter had only one review, I decided I'd leave one too :)Like the other reviewer, I think Hermione is very much in character. She is growing up and you show that well. Her maturity level would be above that of her best friends simply based on the differences in the sexes (this is a truth, not a 'men are scum' statement - girls naturally mature faster than boys) and I like how you pointed out that she doesn't feel as close to them anymore, making the set up to go for someone like Snape all the more realistic. Throughly enjoying the second read through!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
You perfectly described how I was trying to write her. And yes, I did use her maturity and distance from the "trio" to set up her distraction towards snape.I'm happy that you desired to reread this story! Thank you for the read and review!
Love the story. I hope to see more soon.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
More on the way! Much more. The next chapter doesn't seem to want to end, and now it's pushing 9,000 words. But I'm very excited for this one!Thank you for the read and review!
Great chapter, you are lucky to have such a wonderful beta!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Indeed I am! I was so incredibly new to the world of writing fan fiction and melusin has helped me polish everything... from tenses to grammar to my horrible habit of abusing adjectives. lolThank you for the read and review!
Dumbledore is an absolute wretch. Sirius is barely sane enough to function. His propensity for violent reactions is apparent and he expects Hermione to keep him stable. By having a "romantic" relationship with him?I can't say anything about this plan that doesn't involve really bad language. This tops the many bad decisions canon and fanon Dumbledore has made.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Dumbledore knows he has a habit for making bad decisions... but he keeps making them!Or does he?Thank you for the read and review!
Sometimes, the characters just grab you by the throat and do things you really hadn't planned. Gotta just go with it, because it is usually pretty darn good.Like this chapter.Smoldering, sparks, ready to ignite. Conflagration imminent.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Imminent indeed! The squeeze of a lemon I had promised in Chapter Fourteen got pushed back to Chapter Fifteen. My beta is improving it as we speak, so hopefully it will be up before the next book comes out.Thank you for the read and review!
Wow, that was a interesting chapter. I wonder why Sirius wanted to come back so bad, and if that watch has anything to do with his soul (as in by using it he will be damned to hell or something).
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Very good! On the right track with your logic. Of course I can't elaborate further, or I'd spoil it.Thank you for the read and review!
Oh man, this chapter was perfect. I'm glad they didn't shag yet -- it's not quite time for that, I don't think. But I understand your frustration.
There were so many things I could say: all the mysteries are really well done.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I think I've dragged most of my mysteries long enough. Many detailed explanations next chapter.I'm happy that you enjoyed this. Thank you for the read and review!
Great chapter, and I loved your notes. Don't worry lemons will drop when ripe, after all what man wouldn't scoop up that particular offer?
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I have more lemony goodness next chapter, but again, we'll see how far it goes!I'm glad you like this chapter. Thank you for the read and review!
I think this is a good transitional chapter, no it isn't clear for the plot, but you opened the door so to speak.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
The next chapter will pick things up again. Thanks for the read and review!
I have yet to see the appeal of Sirius Black--all flash, no substance.Glad to see Hermione isn't a pushover, either.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I don't like Sirius, so it shows in my characterization of him. Thanks for the read and review!
Noooooo! A cliffie! How could you? (I know, I know, very easily. But still...) Will it go beyond a kiss?? Tell me the chapter will be in queue soon... very soon?????? LOLI hate begging, but you have my complete attention now, can't wait to see what happens now. Good chapter. Cheers
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Will it go beyond a kiss? -- You'll never know! Muhahaha!Just kidding. =) As much as I want to keep your attention, I don't want to disappoint you next chapter. This zest of a lemon doesn't go beyond a kiss, but there is another one next chapter--I wonder how far they will go then? The next chapter is in the talented hands of my beta. Thanks for the review!
Desire is becoming a character in this story - powerful enough to be a third person in the room. Harry with Lavender (even though he loves Ginny), Sirius for Hermione (unwilling to give up hope that it is returned), and Hermione with Severus (playing with nitroglycerin and risking an explosion of major proportions), Nott for Pansy (one-sided manipulation), Pansy for Remus (romanticising her rescuer) and Remus for Pansy (a betrayal of Tonks). But why would Dumbledore keep pushing Hermione to have a relationship with Sirius Black. Regardless of his assurances to the contrary, he has to know that a relationship between a student and her teacher is inappropriate and has potential to be exploitive on the part of the person who has the most power. While Snape is dangerous and Hermione knows it, it is when she is in the company of Sirius Black that Snape comes on the strongest. Is Snape's motivation his own attraction to Hermione or a pissing match with Sirius?
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
You have summarized all of the ships/obsessions slendidly. Dumbledore, as always, thinks much more than he speaks. He has his own reason's for wishing Hermione to get closer to Sirius, which I will reveal later.Your last question is very valid. Of course, I know the answer, but keeping the reader in suspense as the SS/HG relationship progresses is what I am here for. =)Thank you for the thorough review!
don't laugh, but it makes me think of "all dogs go to heaven". I am wrong, aren't I?
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
:Hands you a bag of cockroach clusters:Haha, you're right! The first person to guess correctly was on Ashwinder, which makes you the second.I honestly expected everyone to recognize the barrowed idea, but I can see how some wouldn't think a children's story inspired this.Good job! Thanks for the review!
