With the climax of the next great battle drawing near, the key players who have the ability to halt or bring about potential destruction take center stage, as they always have in every great war since time began. And Dumbledore knew all this, but not when it truly mattered. Eventual SS/HG. Alternate Universe, HBP death disregarded.

I enjoy writing simple poetry about love, life, and betrayal; either about myself or those closest to me.
Notice! December 2, 2010:
This site is amazing. The numerous reviews and reads I have received here has been beyond humbling. However as I have gotten older, RL has taken main priority to reading and writing fanfic. Any tiny fraction of personal time I am able to indulge myself has been spent in the fandom, but I must admit it had been dwindling more and more. I will NEVER abandon anything I have begun, and attempt to finish my WIPs every day. However, like many authors, I have made the mistake of submitting my work to more archives than I am capable of maintaining with the care that is due them. If I am able and time willing, I might continue to update my fics here, but my main priority lies elsewhere. MODERATED ARCHIVES ARE A BLESSING AND NECESSARY FOR QUALITY FIC. I stand by that. Unfortunately submitting my fics to various moderated archives means more time necessary to edit the various mistakes each individual archives will find in my work. My fics will continue to be updated at Ashwinder and Potter Place Archives, anywhere else will have to take a back seat. This is my problem and I take full responsibility. Thank you for reading, reccing, voting, and reviewing my fics on The Petulant Poetess!

I'm so glad I started reading this. The mysteries are all great, and the sense of longing and foreboding is palpable.

Those are definitely major emotions I am trying to portray. I'm very happy you are enjoying it. Thank you for the read and review!
Well, at least Hermione's out of that mess. I felt kinda bad for Ginny. She got quite a slap in the face. I wonder what Harry will ultimately do about all this. Happy to see this next chapter. Excellent writing as always.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Harry doesn't know as much as he thinks he does! Very happy you enjoyed it. Next chapter currently in the hands of my talented beta.Thank you for the continuous reads and reviews and the fic recs on WIKTT and Potter Place! It was very exciting and pleasing to see my fic mentioned outside the archives!
Good chapter, I think Harry may need to know what his lady friend is saying and how she treats his friends. I also liked the way you got Hermione out of the Dark Lord's meeting.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I didn't enjoy the idea of her being there either. Very glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the read and review!

Oh, no! I seriously hope that Pansy appreciates the risk that Hermione took on her account. I look forward to seeing more. Hopefully, you won't keep us waiting too long.

Really good, hope you explain the dreams later
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I never completely explain anything in this story! lol The characters in the story, especially Dumbledore, Harry, and Snape will explain all without saying too much.

I really like this story, and in particular your portrayal of Snape. His characterization really is quite similar to the Snape in Taking Over Me, which I liked a lot. I have one problem with this chapter: I don't mind you using the 'Captive Hermione' device - I just think the way you got her there is nonsensical. Why would two witches, hiding in the underbrush, decide to distract their pursuers by running? Even panicked, I find it wierd that they didn't even try to use magic at all! Why not use nonverbal stunning spells and then apparate away?
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Pansy was more the desperate one in this situation. She had absolutely no intention of leaving the forest until she found Remus. But she was not certain where Remus' cave was located, so she couldn't Apparate to that destination. Hermione knew they could stand and fight together, but she also knew it would have been a chance. A chance which she decided to completely throw away without even seeing if Pansy was okay with it. Because Pansy still had to find Remus, Hermione thought she could distract them away from her before Hermione would Apparate herself. But of course, I couldn't have drama if Hermione got away. =PMelusin and I discussed this as well, and she pretty much had the exact same opinion as you did. It was actually 'worse' before her suggestions. I'm still not completely satisfied with this chapter, but as a WIP that I am dying to complete, the story needed to go this way to get characters where I want them.Love can make some people do 'nonsensical' things. But I am glad you are enjoying my Snape! Thanks for the read and the thorough review!

Evil cliffee!
Brilliant chapter!
More please!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Yes... but being evil is just too fun sometimes! Glad you liked it. Thanks for the read and review!
**shakes head incredulously** no, you can't! All of this for Pansy! In a way, I'm glad for Severus's dilemma, hoped he'd do something and know he couldn't. Will the abuse/rape warning concern Hermione? What of her relationship with Severus after that? When he at least claimed her as his, had a jealous tantrum about Sirius (I hope Voldemort won't ask of her to be Sirius's lover, since he seems to be very interested in the Animagus's well being), he's going to have to watch his lover being tortured and defiled? I know, war isn't pretty, but you're going to make me cry. Well, it's partly my fault for liking so much dark stories.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
As much as I want to keep you in suspense, rape is one thing that I have already guaranteed would not happen to Hermione (way, way back in the Prologue). So the warning only pertains to the 'abuse' half. But your guesses for the next chapter are not to disregarded! Of course, I won't say which ones, but you're always so close!Thank you for the read and detailed review!
Response from septentrion (Reviewer)
You mut charm your story. I never write long reviews, but this story echoes in me.
I forgot about your information pertaining the rape warning.
I'm glad you says I'm always so close. There must be a reason why your story is one of my very favourites.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Thank you! It's exciting that you are enjoying my story so much!
Glad I found the update. Anyway, good chapter. And Severus is as much of a pawn as Hermione.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Dumbledore's pawns, indeed.Very glad you liked it. Thanks for the reads and reviews!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! My prayers have been answered!
Lovely. Thank you.

Oh, Jeez. Hermione's bad habit of following people had to catch up with her sooner or later. And Snape gets to have an epiphany in the middle of it.Cliffhanger. Evil, evil cliffhanger.Evil, evil author.Aaargh!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
She DID need to have one of her habits bite her in the arse. And I do enjoy being a tad evil. =DThanks for the continuous read and reviews!
Very dark and anxiety ridden chapter. I did a quick review of previous chapters to play catch up and this story is still quite a good read. Looking forward to more updates.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Reader anxiety is definietyly what I was going for. Glad you liked it. Thanks for the read and review!
whoa. A pretty intense place to stop!I have to admit, as dark as this story is (and I totally love it) I never expected this. I don't really know why, but I just didn't think there'd be a "captive Hermione" moment in it. I can't think of a single way she/they could possibly get out of this mess now :( And I'm surprised that nobody noticed Sev's shpews of "Nothing" over and over - but the torment there was great (well, great as far as drama, not so much as far as a "great" feeling) :)Anxious for the next!! The drama, action, & suspense in this story always keeps me on the edge of my seat!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Severus verbally said 'nothing' once, the rest being in his mind. "Captive Hermione," is a very common cliche, but I do need for the transition of this story. But hopefully, as I have tried to display with other cliches I've touched upon, it will be read very differently.Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the continuous reads and reviews!
Cannot. Take. The. Wait.
HURRY!!!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
LOL I'm sorry to keep you waiting! The wait shouldn't be long. The next half of the chapter is in my beta's talented hands. As soon as she makes it presentable, it'll be posted!

Excellent chapter. Seems as though Snape is developing a sense of right from wrong.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Fantastic as always. I love the way each chapter shows us what's happening with multiple characters simultaneously within the story. It's a very intricate web and IMO shows amazing writing ability that you can bring all said characters together but give them seperate storylines as well with such fluidity. I am also noticing how easily the reader (or at least myself) can pick up the emotions of the charaters without you (the writer) having to go into a detailed explanation of their inner thoughts. Simply telling what's going on with them and their reactions seems to show thier mental states without the need for extra internal dialogue or description of said thoughts. I don't know how that's done (I"m not that good a writer myself) by I assume it is in carefully chosen wording and it makes your story all the more enjoyable to read (no need for a lot of filler).
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
:blushes: It's exciting to hear that you are enjoying my 'writing style!' I almost feel silly in acknowledging that I have a 'writing style,' since this is my first novel length story. In the first chapter, I acknowledged (well... it was a warning, really) my preference for writing active dialogue over internal monolgues. Maybe it's because I enjoy writing mysteries, but as a reader and lover in fanfic, I don't see the appeal in having everything so easily spelled out to me. And I humbly accept any and all compliments for my writing, but I must share the love with my beta, melusin.More characters and their various story arcs promised to clash next chapter! Thank you for the wonderful read and review.
Great chapter! I can't wait to see how Harry deals with pregnant Lavender!
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
Harry has certainly found himself in a pickle! Glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for the read and review!
The horror and brutality of serving Voldemort. No wonder Severus seeks escape wherever he can.Sirius Black - untreated bipolar disorder would be my diagnostic work up. No wonder he drank so much at Grimmauld Place.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I haven't exactly thought of what mental illness Sirius could/would have, but bipolar disorder would certainly fit, wouldn't it?!Thanks for the read and review!
The more I read, the more I like this story. Imagine all the mayhem there will be with Lavender's pregnancy, Sirius's "condition" (and what does Voldemort expect of him?)... I must reread a bit. I don't remember where Wormtail could have seen Hermione slip into Severus's rooms.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I haven't said, yet, what Voldemort expects of Sirius, so your questions are valid. You came very close to guessing correctly in a previous review!Wormtail came across Hermione at Spinners end in a previous chapter. And mayhem, indeed, is on its way! I'm happy you continuing to enjoy this story.Thank you for the read and review!
Sounds like Pansy has Sirius pegged. Go Remus, trying to change things by telling the truth.
Response from Battle of Lissa (Author of Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy)
I do love Remus in the last scene. Thanks for the read and review!
