Update June 4, 2013:
Parenthood: Ready or Not - Chapter 13 has a good chunk written and I'm trying very hard to get my head back into it so that it's not left abandoned.
Other than that, I've really wandered away from fandom and am mostly writing original things.
Reviews for Parenthood: Ready or Not
Nice begining. Now I'm curious for more. Of course Hermione's child will have to be very special... and the day care! This is just a great idea and I hope I can read more soon! Thank you for posting!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Thanks! Hermione's child will have an extremely special side-story in this story. Alas, I did not come up with the day care idea--it was a suggestion within the challenge. You're quite welcome for posting--honestly I crave feedback, so I'm posting this at several sites, lol! Thanks so much for the review!
I'm already enjoying the start of this and am looking forward to what's coming up. I feel sorry that the little siblings are being split up, but sometimes that truly does happen with adoptions. :( I'm guessing they won't be split up for long though (these two girls anyway). :)
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
I hated splitting them up, but you are right--it does happen too orphans, all too often, unfortunately. It would be overly cruel for me to keep them split up, though, wouldn't it be? We'll see where the muse goes on that thread. Thanks for the review!
Definitely can't wait to see where this goes. And Arthur being behind this law makes seperating siblings seem really cold. Update soon please.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Well, Chapter Two will explain Arthur's part in this, but he didn't write the law. I can't wait to see where my muse takes this, either! Hehe! Thanks for the review!
Oh dear, they're separating siblings from each other? That is most sad for the children, don't you think? Unless.... Miss Granger is taking the other sibling? Hmm.Looking forward to the next chapter... Cheers!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Well, unfortunately, that is part of being orphaned--there's no guarentee that siblings will be able to stay with one another. Hmm, it would be quite convenient for Miss Granger to take young Maria in, wouldn't it? You shall know in Chapter Five *grin* Thanks so much for the review!
I think that you are off to a solid start. I am excited to see where you are going to go with this.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
A solid start, eh? Woot! Hehe, thanks so much for the review! I'm excited to see where I go with this too! A lot of it's still working itself out in my mind!
Hmmm, I wonder who is going to end up with Maria Kay Augustus? Looking forward to the next chapter.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Maria will go to a wonderful home, not to worry *grin* You'll find out where in Chapter Five. Thanks so much for the review!
Interesting premise. I'll be interested to see where this goes. Good work!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
I'm a bunch of chapters in and I'm interested to see where it's going! Thanks for the review!
i just read all 10 chapters...and am loving it! can't wait for an update. :)
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Aww thanks! I'm hoping to have the next chapter finished within the next couple of weeks...
Oh, that was adorable. Go Jessie.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Thanks!
Yay, a great update, I can't wait till the next one though!
I hope something isn't going to happen to Jessie on her way to the Owlery... like being abducted by Blaise or something!
Again, I can't wait for the next chapter!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
You should know that saying things like that could plant the idea into an author's head *wink* I'm hoping *crosses fingers* to have the next chapter finished within the next couple weeks... Thanks for reviewing, and for sticking with this story even with the long intervals between updates!
Response from JTBJAB (Reviewer)
That's the advantage of having automated emails for updates! ;p I wouldn't want to miss an update from a fantastic plot line! And I like planting ideas ;p even if it only influences slightly *g*
Another fantastic chapter. I was so happy to get my email that you had updated. That Jessica is a sneaky little thing -- I absolutely love her!!~

She's delightful, isn't she? Thanks so much for the review!
She's so sweet!... love the story! =)
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Aww, thanks!
I love that girl. She is so clever for her age. I'm also very glad to see you back and hope not to wait too long for another chapter .... Please
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
I think kids are much more clever than we give them credit for! I'm hoping that I will be able to finish the next chapter within the next couple weeks, and to have it up before New Year's. Thanks for the review!
I think that a chapter from Jessica's POV would be great
I found this little gem thanks to its appearance on the sshg quiz. Morethansirius seemed to think that it may have been abandoned, but I'm going to bookmark it and keep my fingers crossed that even if she were right that I maybe won't be the only person the quiz brings creeping around and that if enough of us leave word that we'd like to know how Hermione and Mark and Severus and Jessica and Maria all get on, then maybe tour muse might show interest again.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Awww you're so sweet! :"> I would love to finish this, I really would, but it was just so hard for me to get my head in it after HBP and then DH came out because there was SO much I would have done differently, and there were things that just didn't fit. I was so young when I started this, and I feel like I've matured as a writer so much that the ideas I had for this just aren't good enough. I do have a good almost-1,000 word chunk written for the next chapter, so who knows, maybe I will give it another go, if only to be able to mark it complete :) I'll see about getting Gelsey to help motivate me to finish it, lol... But thank you so much! I'm so touched that you would bookmark it just in case!

I am so happy to see that this story is "still alive", I read it a long time ago, but thought it would never be finished. To see it re-submitted here, and with a new chapter was absolutely great. I really do like your story, the plot is brilliant and it is very well written. I think a chapter from Jessicas view would be nice and give more debt to the story. I hope the hearin will work out for Severus and Jessica, and I do hope that Jessica and her little sister will be reunited as sisters living together:-) Keep up the good work!!!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Oh, you have no idea how happy I am to be writing it again! There was a time when I thought it would never be finished! Thank you so much for this review and your input, it helps more than you know!
I think Jessica's POV could be a pivotal point in this story. It is always nice to see different view points in a story if it moves the story along and adds to its complexity. Can't wait for more.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
It really is, for more reasons than I could say at this point! There is so much going on with Hermione that I can't tell you all without switching point of views... At least with Jessica, I could delve more into what's going on with Hermione! Thanks for the review!
Great chapter! Poor Jessica, I think Severus should have taken her with him... but then I suppose if he lost, she'd be taken there and then.
You've had my opinion on the matter (from my experience of studying creative writing at University) that you shouldn't change perspective. Right now you're actually writing it from Severus's point of view. Though in 3rd person - it's a variation of 3rd person omniscient. Changing to Jessica's would be okay, just not 1st person cause it'll be too jarring.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Well... the Hearing hasn't come and gone yet, so we'll see what happens there, lol.... Oh, I know I'm writing in 3rd person, Severus... If I switch to Jessica, it will be 3rd person, Jessica.... not to worry! I've taken Creative writing classes as well, and that's not to mention that I think my beta would flay me if I switched tenses! lol... Thanks so much for the review!
Response from JTBJAB (Reviewer)
Yay, a fellow author that knows what I was talking about - I did feel I was being slightly partronising, but another author (who shall remain nameless) did something similar and changed to first person, and present tense in one of the chapters. And didn't seem to understand why that was wrong. So I can rest at ease and know that you know what you're doing. I just can't wait till I finish my degree - it's ruined reading for me. I've become very picky *grin*I look forward to the next update!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Oh I completely understand! If I'm reading a story that's all right and the author starts doing obnoxious tense changes, I'll just stop reading. I'm so glad I've got a wonderful beta that will catch if I do it every now and then on accident. Usually I only have a problem if I'm writing a story in 1st or 2nd person, or present and future tenses. *shrug* Thanks so much for reviewing, though, I always look forward to your reviews! </ramble>
ooooooohhhh!!! so sweet!!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Thanks!
Great update!! I'm really curious to see what Blaise is up to... obviously it's no good!! <g> But for Jessica's sake, I hope the hearing is settled quickly, and in Jessica's favor. And definitely go ahead with your idea - I think it would be very interesting to have a chapter from Jessica's point of view.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Is it no good? Or is there more to the story than I've let on... hmmm.... lol.... thanks so much for the review!
I wouldn't mind a chapter from Jessica's point of view. And what is up with Zabini? He is being cruel to a child for no reason. Yes, he may be angry at Severus, but still.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
In Blaise's defense, he's .... well, crud... I can't go there for it will give too much away! However, I do thank you for the review and your input as to a chapter from Jessica's POV!
Gah! Ebil cliffie. What's going to happen at the Ministry?
I would like to see things from Jessica's perspective. Depending on what Blaise is up to, I would bet Jessica would have something to say to him about why he is trying to take her away from Severus!
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
That was an evil cliffie? Oh dear... I should hope you would survive an intentional cliffie from me! lol... Hmm, what is Blaise up to? Thanks for the review!
Response from CharmedForce (Reviewer)
Of course it was evil! I was completely caught up in the story, waiting to see what happens, and the chapter ends. It was a total *slump* moment.
Can't wait for the next bit, obviously.
Good idea for a Jessica POV chapter. Possibly with her doing evil, nasty things to Zabini as payback? I look forward to the next offering from your virtual quill.Blessings & chocolate cookies!

Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
lol, that is such a humourous idea! I'm not so sure that would be in-character for Jessica, but I'll keep it in mind Thanks for the cookies and review!
Love. I suppose that is the emotion Severus felt and cannot name for the moment. I'm a bit sad that there'll be some time until the next updates. Let's say that a bit more time increases the pleasure. As for a chapter with Jessica's POV that must be interseting and I'd like to read it. Thnak you for that brilliant story
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Absolutely love! Severus is feeling comfortable with Jessica, but not so comfortable that he's ready to admit he loves the little girl. I'm going to try to update regularly, but I don't have steady internet access, so it's going to be difficult to have that online support I used to have. Your welcome, and thank you so much for reviewing!
Ooh, so he's going to try that argument, is he? Of course she has living family: Maria. What is Blaise's problem, anyway? Harumph. Meanwhile, I would actually love to see a chapter from Jessica's POV.
Response from Delayed Poet (Author of Parenthood: Ready or Not)
Hmmm... that argument.... I shall not respond, for fear of giving things away, but there is definitely more to Blaise than I can show from just Severu's POV. I'm so glad you're positive about a Jessica-POV chapter! Thanks for the review!
Response from firefly124 (Reviewer)
Oh, I wasn't asking for answers. Just sharing the questions running around in my brain, I guess. I'd much rather find out as the story unfolds. Much more fun that way.
And you're welcome!
