Alan Rickman obsessed ex-civil servant now living the good life in France. I only write in the good ship SS/HG. However, if you think that the only way these two can get together is by some sort of forced marriage, 'binding' or whatever, don't read my stories. You will be disappointed.

Wow. I don't think I really want to know of the reaction to this. I love all the different mysteries you weave into the story: the weird bond thing, the lack of maternal instincts, etc.
Anyway, it's great so far!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you, glad you're enjoying it. The next chapter is in queue, but if you can't wait it's already up on OWL.
If this is HBP compliant, shouldn't Snape be teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts, instead of Potions?
Granted, I much prefer him as a Potions instructor *grins*
Response from Raven Espusse (Reviewer)
Whoops -- I read too fast... I didn't see that she was imagining that scene. My apologies!
Ooh, not a good idea, Hermione! O.oI'm loving this story, I can't wait to see what happens next! Please update soon!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you. You shouldn't have much longer to wait.
Hello Melusin i really like your story, and can not wait to see how hermione is going to break free from this life, it really amaze me how you could focus on this 2 characters and put is on like this, i do think that severus if given some power will take it all and give little, not becasue he is bad, but because he is a manipulative bastard, i hope you can update soon
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you

. I've been without internet access for a while (I'm typing this on a friend's computer) - hopefully I should get my computer fixed when I get home next week. I have almost two chapters ready for beta, so once I'm back on line you shouldn't have to wait much longer for an update.
Response from glenda (Reviewer)
thanks for your answer i will wait here for your next chapter!!!!!
Wow. Lovely. Ok, "like Scotland, only warmer?" That's funny. I loved the first chapter "Mum meee!" That was really memorable. I am curious about the distance between Hermione and her children, I am guessing there is a interesting riddle to that issue. Everything is written well, is lots of fun, and it moves well. I look forward to reading the next chapters. ^ hugs ^

Thank you. Glad you appreciate the humour in the tale - there are some dark issues portrayed in it but I think it would be too depressing if it was all doom and gloom - and anyway, real life isn't like that. It'll be a while before we get to the kids issue, I'm afraid, but there is a reason behind her attitude and that's all I can say on the subject. Thanks for a lovely review!
I love this fic! It has grabbed me and reeled me in like a huge fish. The mystery and intrigue are excellent and the tantalising approach is fantastic! All I need now is MORE, MORE, MORE! *humbly offers a dozen sugar quills and a pound of lemon sherbets to your muse* Blessings!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you - there's lots more on the way!
Interesting story. I find the jumping back and forth in time to be a little confusing though. A minor point, FYI: Dumbledore did not Stun Harry when they were atop the Astronomy Tower-he immobilized him with Petrificus Totalis.
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you for your review, I'm sorry you find the time changes confusing but they are necessary and there are more to come. I know Harry says that Dumbledore 'immobilised' him on the Astronomy tower, I had Ron use 'stun' as a generic term in conversation.
I've just caught up and am wondering what's wrong with her? Why can she not feel anything for her kids? Only for Snape? At least she's starting to think about Snape being on the good side and Ron's helping.
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
It will be a few chapters yet before I can answer your questions, I'm afraid. Thank you for leaving a review.
Mmmmm, delicous.
I hope one day you get some time to finish this story, I'm really curious as to what will happen and if severus will ever find out that he didn't need the binding rings and that he's royallyed messed everything up. I know there is no one else for either of them but I don't think if she knew she'd stand for any of that.
I love your Severus. He does not want to be hero-worshipped or rewarded for things that aren't truly *him* but are instead the result of his fame. This is exactly how I see Severus postwar.
The snowglobe present was beautiful!
There is so much going on here! Earlier in the story, I think I remember that Hermione had wanted to be a Curse-Breaker but never did and is now feeling restless. I wonder what is will be that keeps her from going? Is it as sacrifice for Severus? Probably, I think. Although she might try to convince herself that it's what she wants too.
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you - I like a well-rounded Severus myself.
More answers in the next chapter.
Well their relationship certainly survived Hermione's appalling attempt to order Snape around (for his own good, of course!). They seem to be okay now, for the most part anyway. Except for the next chapter being called *The Road To Hell Part 2*!
Dun! Dun! DUN!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Consider it the lull before the storm.
Thanks fr the review
Well! I certainly wonder just what the implications are!
Minerva surprised me by being more concerned about Snape's well-being and his heart than she was about the relationship itself. Pleasantly surprised. I'm glad Severus has a friend in Minerva!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
You'll soon see if you keep reading ;)
Yes, Minerva is a good friend to them both.
Excellent story! You've had me reading the whole lot all day, i missed my lecture because of it!!! Can't wait to read the next chapter!!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Lol! Don't blame me if you fail your exams!Thank you for reviewing.
The sex and the feelings between them were both so powerful and amazing!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you. Yes, there's certainly a lot of love there.
Wow! I am in awe of your story-telling ability. I love how real Severus' emotions are. I can easily see him feeling the way he does postwar and Hermione responding the way she is. "Severus had kept them safe all these years, after all; now it was her turn to take care of him." Good stuff. I liked the Mirror Severus thing. Amusing and so very useful. I wonder if he still uses it to spy on is family in the present day?
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you. yeah, I do tend to use mirrors quite a lot... but no, that particular mirror is still in Grimmauld Place, not Hogwarts.
Thankd for reviewing.
I just started reading this story or I certainly would have reviewed earlier.? [Seems the least I can do when I enjoy something that someone has put so much hard work into!]? I'm horrible at suspense, though, so hope you'll post more soon.? I think you've done some very clever things with the character development and also some very nice portrayals of a number of individuals.? I actually like your Ron -- he mostly annoys me in the Rowling books.? Having Harry work through his hatred of Snape was done well.? I'm sure you already have the end in mind, but regardless, I'll put in my plea for a happy ending ... which to me means Severus and Hermione together and happy.? Pretty please?? Although they're not in a good place now, I'm sure you can salvage it all quite nicely.? Pretty please with sugar on top?? OK, I'll stop begging now.? But thanks for the good story and all your work!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you for taking the time to review and yes I do have an end in mind. There's a long way to go, though, so I'm not giving anything away just yet!I hope you will stick with it and continue to enjoy the journey. Thanks again.
i love the idea of being in the other's mind during sex. how intimate! <3
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
I agree. Thank you for leaving a review.
albus is wack!!!
Severus is such a deep and complex person. Thanks for exploring his past and describing how it influenced him.
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
He is that, certainly.
::cries for Ron:: That was an intense scene. I like the way you envisioned the final battle and the way Love was used to defeat Voldemort. Great writing!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you. The battle scene was great fun to write - I tried to use all the clues that JKR had left prior to DH. I had a theory that the chessgame in PS would be reenacted with Ron sacrificing himself for the greater good. Well, we now know that nothing she wrote before dh had any relevance to the final battle. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.
It looks like I'm not the only one who thinks meditation practice would make mastering Occlumency easier That rocks! I like how Harry was able to use it to connect with the Otherworld. Hmmm Ron/Hermione. I understand it, but I am so curious about what will happen. I know he dies, and Hermione remembers him fondly. I wonder if Severus discovers their relationship before he and Hermione recommence their own? Good thing I found this story so late in the game, and all I have to do is keep reading!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Thank you. Yes, I thought if Harry could learn to quieten his mind, he might actually start thinking more than two-dimensionally. Ron was always going to be Hermione's first boyfriend - I think we can all agree, however, that marrying him would be a disaster.
Thanks for reviewing
I was very happy to see an update -- I'd just about given up. Still hoping for the Severus-and-Hermione-happy-together ending, though!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
Yes, sorry about that. It was such a pivotal chapter I had to get it right - it took several months and several re-writes until I was happy with it.
The ending at the moment is a moveable feast. I have one in mind, but this story has already changed so much, it might not fit by the time I get there. We shall see. I'm just enjoying the journey at the moment.
thanks for reviewing
Response from Cerydden M_Layne (Reviewer)
Then I shall beg shamelessly for the happy ending. I was pretty well convinced early on that Hermione would ultimately choose to stay with Severus regardless, but now you're scaring me. [I could tell you why I thought that but on the off-chance I was right, I don't want to spoil anything for anyone actually reading this review besides you!]
Back to shameless begging: Didn't JKR treat Severus badly enough in DH that we Snape fans deserve many, many happy fanfic endings to make up for it? Their situation is salvageable! You can do it! Angst-filled endings are easy to do -- the cheap way to get an emotional response out of readers. A convincing, happy ending is more of a challenge -- one at which I know you could succeed admirably. OK, how was that? More begging? If so, here's another tear-filled plea. Please? *reader sobs*
Broom sex! YES!
Response from melusin (Author of Epiphany)
LOL - I had to get that in somewhere
