Wizarding Britain, ten years after the war. Things are good, but the Ministry thinks what's needed is a good old fashioned Beltane revel. Hogwarts is just the place to do it. In the meantime, Severus isn't enjoying life right now; he's the subject of Rita Skeeter's new tell-all book. And don't get Hermione started on how Ron continues to make her life a misery. Perhaps this Beltane stuff may just be the ticket to help them out as well. Written for Jenidralph in the winter 2013 LiveJournal SSHG_Prompfest.

Reviews for The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane
What GREAT foreplay...I would go crashing thru a cornfield so Severus could catch me any day or night! Wondwer what Harry and Severus spoke of? Can not wait for more!!!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you sweetie! I promise I won't leave chapter 8 too long!
So Filtch is been invited to join in lol wonder if he will get rid of the bug but doubt it.
The Chase was exciting and much more than just the simple trial Hermione thought so much for a quick into the corn and back out again. Another lovely chapter. Thanks.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Another wonderful chapter, can't wait for more.

Thank you so much! I love the cheerleader! ;)
This good now, what's the real ritual going to be like? :D
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Good point!
I think this explination of the Mauraders and Lily is one of the BEST! I can see it,Lily and Sluggy ewww! Lupin and Sirus seems to be a given. Even though J.K. did not write them that way there was that VERY faint underlay...of bi sexuality. I nenver liked Lily or James. best chapter thus far!!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you, sweetie! I'm so glad you like it!
OH dear god! This is so fabulous. I found myself wanting to laugh and cry and my heart pounding with excitement right along with Hermione.
Can I run this chapter off and keep it in my nightstand? Please, pretty please!
This is truly the stuff that my dreams are made of.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Here's to all your dreams coming true!!
I haven't even finished the chapter and I already want to write a review. The Unknown comment at the beginning of the chapter about "Beltane being the climax of spring and the evocation of the masculine and feminine roles is just perfect. I have become a big fan of embracing the natural gender roles over the last few years and not to start a long political/ evolutionary psych discussion believe it is important that we acknowledge that women and men are different and embrace those differences. Honestly, I hated the ideal of being feminine because I had been taught being feminine meant being weak. Embracing my femininity has brought me peace. Look at how Minerva's feminine understanding changed Argus' outlook. I bet Rita won't be getting the story she planned on. Okay gonna finish the chapter now.

Thank you for your comment - I hope you are enjoying the story.
I always love the drunken witches giving advice, poor Severus. Interesting chapter and I too wonder what Filch is up to. One thing I saw batchlor or bachelor can you spell bachelor with a "t" I am no critic but it just jumped out at me. Hugs
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you, sweetie! I'll check on that right away! It's easy to over look something like that sometimes. Thank you for letting me know!
Would that be the real God or Severus as the embodiment? I have to wonder just what Filch is planning. Especially after being invited to participate in the ritual. Good for Minerva! ^_^
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
We'll see! ;)
Severus must feel better, getting all that of his chest. I have never had much respect for Lily, but Pettigrew ? ewww I wouldn't touch him with rubber gloves and a pair of tongs.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
LOL You and me both!
I just want to bitch-slap Rita, the bug!! Sexy beginning then you turn it into a ringer with Rita the bug...lost my sexy Snape mojo by the end!! For shame Teddy!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Sorry about that - but life can't be all sunshine and roses - it would be a very boring read otherwise! ;)

"Beltane is the climax of Spring, a celebration of fertility. uhmm somebody gotta get knocked up right? lol
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
You never can tell!
I LOVE this speech!! It brought tears to my eyes! I love stories in which Severus is redeemed and finally sees his worth!!! Well done Lady Teddy!!"I tell you this to assure you of my knowledge and experience of the significance of both the ritual and the role. And I'll tell you for free, my dear friend," he said, his smile as caring and compassionate as his soft hazel eyes. "You are the perfect embodiment of the High Priest. A wizard who has seen both the light and the dark, and has given his all to protect those he loves. It is enough to try," he added, as Severus tried to interrupt. "It was enough that you tried. "And I can state with a full and light heart, my friend Severus: I'd rather have you presidin' over this ritual as its High Priest than any other wizard in the world." Magister Honeyclutch drew himself up to his full height, and in a voice full of power and dignity, he pronounced, "You are everything Beltane stands for, Severus Snape."
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you so much, Dee sweetie! I am so glad it touched you. As you can tell, I had such a wonderful time writing this story - as writing experiences go, I think it was one of the best.
"Oh, please! In approximately one hour I've got to meet him in the RoR so we can perform the Purification Rite. He's going to be starkers, and I have to bathe him. Give me something to hope for while I'm washing his todger." Good God, I just spat my tea all over my monitor and probably woke up my roommates with my loud guffawing. Cheers!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I hope your monitor survivied!! ;)
OoooKkkkk, so is Flich a good guy or a bad guy, is he really a turncoat, or is he setting dear Rita up. I don't expect you to answer any of these questions, I'm just thinking out loud, there are so many layers in this story, as there are in most of your storys, that's why I love reading them so much. Can't wait for Hermione to enter the scene.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you so much! I am tickled pink that you are enjoying the story. I have a feeling things are going to get a bit more intense when she does ;)
Finally that's straightened out. Roll on Beltane, I say! :)
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Absolutely!
Another fine and funny chapter especially where Severus went arse over teakettle . So Lily is not that Lily White after all. Up to no good with all of the Marauders. Least HG got a good laugh out of hearing that piece of information from Severus.
Thanks for writing.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you! Poor Severus. He needs a break.Wildcard's response: Yes, he does and lots of loving attention too.
“The magic of the ritual doesn’t allow anything to happen that isn’t meant to happen.”
I know a lot of religions have notions of divine powers that make sure one’s life goes in a certain way, but that never belonged to MY notion of paganism. On the other hand, JKR’s cosmos is full of predestination, so it may be that the pagan powers of the Potterverse do indeed like to relieve their devotees, on occasion at least, of any concern for making their own moral choices. Hermione, as a Gryff and therefore one of the Elect, can be confident that everything she does was Meant To Be, but I would expect Severus to have learned the hard way to avoid that sort of thinking.
I must say, however, that having the priest and priestess fall out of the bath like a pair of klutzes does seem more like the kind of pagan rituals I’ve attended. ;-)
P.S. I agree with you 100% about gold-digging Lily and the depraved Marauders!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you!
Response from Very Small Prophet (Reviewer)
Hmmm. It had just occurred to me that "Gold-Digging Lily and the Depraved Marauders" would be an excellent name for a rock band.Dave Barry forever!
Hahaha!! Love the by play between the two of them! Rita is extra nasty in this story!! Well done mu friend!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you, dee darling!
No chance I have a bad cough and I'm in the kitchen making our dinner. Shock...horror......you just sullied the reputation of St Lily...god bless you. I thought she was a bitch in canon totally. But did you have to slander Remus...he was a cutie. But as they say.....if the knob fits. OK so Hermione did step up to the mark... I grudgingly concede. Lovely chapter Teddy but what is Argus up to? Got to go....chicken is ready. Best wishes, Love Ali xxx. Mind you HE is still in the tub!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
I wish you loads of healing strength and comfort. I know - Stgulik warned me that I might get lynched over my St Lily confession, but I have never felt she was the perfect angel of the books. And if she was, she would have forgiven Severus. and Stgulik is a massive Remus fan - so she gave me the skunk-eye for that, too. Fortunately, she is a lovely, forgiving soul.Enjoy your chicken! ;)
Said it before Teddy......it's a dirty job soaping Sev's todger but if Hermione finds herself not up to the task......well ahem..ahem......I might find a bit of time. Hubby's in the hot tub. i mean god almighty...it's February in Lancashire and we've had hurricanes and monsoons. Nutter! Anyway onto the next naughty chapter. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Hot tub? Girl, what are you doing here - go and jump in there with him! LOL I know - its' a tough job, but somebody's got to do it! Stay warm and dry, Ali dear! ;)
Wow, if that was a practise session, what will the real thing be like. One day someone is going to spike dear Rita's bathsalts with RAID.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Rita - the cockroach you just love to hate! LOL
Interesting visions he's having, aren't they? And it sounds like Filch is tp to something as well. ^_^
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Never a dull moment at Hogwarts! ;)
Thanks for another revealling chapter in more ways than one. Drinking wet witches lol. Severus preparing to step into that bath and talk himself out of the ritual and the Gods not allowing it.
Where is that sneaky bug. Filtch is a out and out rotter and a liar to boot.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
Thank you! Lots going on, isn't there?? I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Wonder where the bug is hiding? :)
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of The Witchhiker's Guide To Beltane)
She's a sneaky one, isn't she?
