Reviews for His Draught of Delicate Poison
How very romantic....Yeah everyone is taken care of,all wrapped up in a elf silk bow ;-)
Marvelous chapter. I actually liked Percy, haha, when he was being protective of Fleur. And I choked on my tea laughing at the part with the negligee. So funny! Can't wait for more!
Oh, MY...in the fashion of a Regency-era heroine, I just may need some smelling salts and a fainting couch (upholstered in nice, soft, forest green velvet) after reading that chapter! You've a bit of cruelty in you to tease us so with that little taste of lemon and leave us wanting more -- even if it is only proper that Severus wait for his wedding night to thoroughly seduce his bride (I can't wait to read that part, since you've promised to include it). I think both Severus and Hermione have had the good fortune to find a partner who can keep them on their toes -- and that's what both of them desperately need, because they'd be bored to tears within weeks by someone who can't really keep up.
SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're together!!!!!! YAY!!!!! This was such fun. I ADORE how he got Fleur to finally blow her top. And blow it, she did! I'm sure everybody's ears in that house were burning with the fury of it all even if they DON'T speak French. Loved how the first thing to come out of Hermione's mouth when they began their "discussion" was "You said we could see one another..." That's Gryffindor bluntness for ya. But Serverus' masterful control of that talk is absolutely superb. And that he got her to ask for marriage is hilarious. =DThe end scene at Grimmauld Place was a great touch. Albus and Minerva were picture perfect in their reactions and of course Tonks deserved to get her two cents in. Loved all of their time together in the limo but I think my absolute FAVORITE part is when he's flooing back to the Estuary and says "Don't even think about it" to her. Because we all know that thought HAD to already be swimming in her mind! Just fabulous!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!
well it took a couple of days, but I got through all that you have written so far with this, I love this story. Snape put phlegm in her place, yay. I look forward to your next update.
That was a fun chapter. I loved how Severus played Fleur all the way to her fit. I'm sure it won't be long until Percy picks up the pieces. I wonder how Molly will feel with the thought of her newest prospect for a daughter in law. With the picture you have painted they are certainly made for each other.I hope Mr. Granger follows through with the muggle tradition of torchuring the prospective bridegroom. Should be interesting. Hope to see an update soon.
What an exciting battle! Poor Lucius. (Of course, I'd read your Christmas story, so I was expecting him to be dead.) And poor Severus, arm shattered, bleeding to death! Can't wait for the next chapter!

*grins*
See, I didn't post the Christmas story here because all of this story isn't posted! Yes, poor Lucius - I really do feel badly about him. He's such a charming rogue, and I never knew until I began to write him. Thanks for the note, my dear!
WOW!! What a chapter! Talk about action galore! But yet, in your own wonderful way the feelings and emotions are present and never fall to the background. If I had any fingernails left after opening kids toys (talk about a dangerous pasttime) I'd have bitten them off before the end and the most wonderful line of Severus'. I MUST get myself a pair of fluffy pink bunny slippers!!! Can't wait to see what the fallout of all this is. Oh, and I must say "poor Lucius". He really was in a losing battle for Sophronia's affections, but we all know she didn't want to lose him like that. (not that WE did either. But some sacrifices must be made to the Gods of writing, eh?)
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I'm glad you felt that the emotions were not neglected, in spite of the dangerous nature of the chapter. I do think that the bunny slippers may have brought about a new fashion for Poison lovers everyone; one of my betas, Keladry Lupin, asked for and received some for Christmas!
You're right; I don't believe there was a chance in hell that Lucius could have won Sophronia from Sirius - but it was still very hard to write his death.
As always, love, thank you for the note.
Quick question.
Since you are posting your story here have you made any changes?
Thanks Sweets.
Hello Slytherin Hubby!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Nothing significant, hon - only punctuation corrections. I am doing a re-write of the last chapter, but I'll post a note on my LJ when I finish it and re-post it.
Thanks!
Another amazing chapter. I'm not very good at reviews. I will just say that I LOVE everything about this story. hehe. It's so well written and you get into the characters heads and feel what they are feeling, see what the they are going through. It was sweet and sad that Lucius sacrificed himself to protect the woman he loved. I was hoping the Snape women would get into the house, they were making me nervous. Yay for Hermione coming out to protect her man. I love Severus' line about not wanting the bunny slippers to be the last thing he sees. It made me giggle. I can't wait to read some more!!!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I don't know why you think you're "not very good at reveiws"! I promise you, Snape is not grading you!
The Snape women would have made anyone nervous - they just had no experience with battles and had no real idea of the danger. Lucius' death was hard to write - it was my first character death. Thanks for the note!
Such an intense chapter, and so much to be both happy and said about!
I still love the Fleur/Severus/Percy dynamic going on here, and how Fleur is thinking about Percy's Order of Merlin as the battle rages in her home. It is so like people to think of inconsequential things at moments such as that one.
In a moment that felt like rank cowardice, Snape closed his eyes so as not to see the annihilation of his stepmother and his baby sister.
That line is so poignant to me, though it's hard to explain why. For some reason, it's like being able to see into the core of Snape's character, and finding out that he's just as vulnerable as the rest of us, I guess.
I'm still sad about Lucius, too, by the way, but his sacrifice was necessary . . .
As always, well done!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Shiv is still rubbing my face in Lucius' death on every possible occasion. I don't think she will *ever* forgive me, LOL!
He knew that he shouldn't look away - that if he could not prevent their deaths, then it was his duty to watch them die, because they were dying due to his failure to protect them. I know it makes no sense, but that's the way a man of Severus' calibre thinks.
Thanks, babe.
i love their ribs!! We have one in Southern New Jersey..It is a fabulous battle scene, worthy of Tolkein's battles.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
My goodness! What a lovely compliment - it is not everyday that a fanfic writer garners a comparison to Tolkien!
I'm just glad Red Hot and Blue is on the other side of town or I'd be there far too often!
“A gentleman never withdraws from an engagement.” Oh, yeah, RIGHT, Mr. "I will visit you socially after graduation!"*scoffs, snorts, turns disdainfully on heel, muttering 'cad'*
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Atta girl! Tell him he's a jerk!
*nods* He definitely deserves it. Idiot man.
"The matter was not as simple as the poets and philosophers would have one believe."How very true! The entire paragraph following that absolutely delighted me - it seemed like Severus Snape in a nutshell. You really do have a fantastic knack for getting into your character's heads. My other favorite line? Lucius's “You really have had enough." Hee!Do I really have to say it? More, please! :)
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Hi, JadedSeeress! I'm so glad you agree with me about Severus and lurve. He had SO counted on never having to deal with it. That is a lovely compliment vis a vis getting into the characters' heads. My hubby tends to feel I do it too much, but that's the type of detail that is important to me.
I, too, enjoyed the scene between Severus and Lucius. Thank you for the lovely review!
YAY new chapter! I love when Severus had to go into Hermione's room to get Fletcher, and the bunny slippers. Poor Severus, such a tortured soul. hehe. Can't wait for more!!!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Thank you for the note, Luthien! I really enjoyed the bunny slipper caper, as well - I can just see him carrying them with the Pygmy Puff on top ...
More to come soon - thank you!
*Giggles madly*
I didn't notice you posting HDODP here until today - yes, I'm totally slow on the uptake sometimes! - and upon rereading, I remembered exactly why I love this story so much.
Snape in Hermione's bedroom is still such a touching scene, and the conversation they have when he brings the Pygmy Puff to Stormy is *so* fraught with tension it's enough to make a girl scream *L* You are so mean to Severus sometimes *G*Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Thanks for the re-read, doll. I readily accept that I am viciously cruel to Severus.
*is proud*
*exhales* Wow! I think I was holding my breath through the entire chapter. Great last line - and Severus had better not die! It's simply not allowed! :)
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
That was a pretty intense chapter. Thanks for the note, my dear.
Oh poor Severus. His life is so hard. Teehee! A "pride" of Gryffs!!!! Tooo funny. His compulsive need to look over Hermione's room was sweet. It's almost "cute" to think of him behaving like that. I absolutely adore his calling on Lucius to save him, and then getting drunk to boot!! The "Neville plan" went perfectly. He gets to be the hero AND get the girl. Good for him (and Pansy too!).Looks like some BIG trouble coming on the morrow. (or the next chapter, however you want to look at it HEE) Can't wait for it. But I will. Especially as Christmas is just around the corner. I wish you the Merriest of Days and a Wonderful New Year!! (complete with lots of creative ideas for your lovely muse to keep you both busy! )
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Well, you have to admit it is rather embarrassing to be Snape -- and to be discovered harbouring bunny slippers - pink ones, at that!
Thank you for the lovely wishes, my dear, and may I reciprocate the wishes to you! Thank you for your reviews and your support.
Well done! The ending just oozed tension. I'm glad Stormy didn't die, also. That would have brought tears to my eyes.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Well, we love Stormy at my house, so I would have been in a world of trouble if anything bad had happened to her! Yes, the ending was tense - Severus is finally beginning to realise what is truly happening in his life. Thanks for the note!
Fabulous chapter, as always! Little details like the sweets wrapper make my day, and I loved the short-but-sweet scene between Remus and Tonks. I also crowed 'corn starch!' out loud, and received a number of thoroughly confused looks from the rest of the family. You can tell your Slytherin that I'm just as eager to read the next chapter with this ending as I would have been with his suggestion. :)
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Hi, JadedSeeress! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the sweets wrapper -- it was a Muse-inspired notion. I liked the Remus and Tonks scene, as well, though not many commented on it -- thank you. I can just see you crowing "corn starch", LOL.
I appreciate the note more than you know, my dear.
[Sighs very deeply.] I'm happy your Slytherin revised his opinion. I would have had the torch concession, which would have done much toward paying off our castle's mortgage, but the heartache involved wouldn't be worth it. Very exciting chapter, loved the halcyon days and the realization over the sick bed at the end. Brava, brava--now get busy!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
*grins*
I'm so glad you the chapter, my dear -- I did so love the halcyon days, as well. More to come soon!
I am so sorry to prevent you from making gold on the torch concession, though ...
I'm so glad that you didn't let sweet little Stormy die...and that Severus and Hermione had a chance to grow a little closer to each other. I liked the little touch of the chocolate wrapper and the handkerchief as keepsakes of the night in the cabin, even if Severus isn't willing to admit it yet. I loved the ironic touch that both of them are now reading Jane Austen, since these two are practically acting out the roles of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. I agree with Nanny that this moment of peace is too good to last, but I hope that you won't make it too hard for Severus and Hermione to overcome the trouble that's coming.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I'm so glad you liked the chocolate wrapper and the handkerchief -- those two are enough to make you want to knock their heads together. I couldn't resist the Jane Austen bit; I can see both of them as connoisseurs of fine English literature.
I can't promise that the trouble will be easily overcome, but I do think it's worth the ride, Gigi -- I hope you'll end up in agreement with me!
*WHEW* Big sigh of relief that Stormy is ok. That's some nasty potion Severus created. But then he had to do what he had to do when old Voldie was still around.I can totally see him acting as he did about "his" labratory. Add to that total exhaustion and you get another nasty "potion". hahaLove the idyllic days post-remedy. Esp. that Nanny is the one to see the trouble brewing. Looks like some interesting happenings sitting on the horizon! CAN'T WAIT!!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
He *really* didn't like having Sirius in his laboratory -- but those two are going to have to come to some kind of understanding eventually!
I, too, loved the idyllic days ... Severus apparently lost his mind for a bit, there. Nanny is a wise old elf and she knows Severus better than any living soul.
Yes, we're down to the last 8 chapters of the story, my dear. Fasten your seatbelt!
Very well written story. I'm so impatient to read the next chapters!

Hi,
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
! As is Barnabas Collins, perhaps?
Thank you for the note! The next chapter will be up within the week. I appreciate you taking the time to drop me a line.
Response from A Collins Vampire (Reviewer)
Your welcome! And yes, as in Barnabas Collins. Dark Shadows is another passion of mine. I rarely review (I'm one of those pesky silent readers!) but I really like this story. Good Job! I'm so happy to hear that the chapter will be up soon!
