Reviews for His Draught of Delicate Poison
Another wonderful foray into this most fantastic universe. Only Sirius could pull off the "previous engagement" with such aplomb! Very Slytherin of him to put the party in the Malfoy name. This Interrogator is one bad dude. Not one to trifle with.Loved the opening scene at the Burrow. I can totally picture Ginny bursting in at that point. And Harry gets his "family". He deserves it.Just lovely work. Thanks for gifting us all with it.

Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful reviews,

I must admit I was terribly proud of how Slytherin Sirius was in this chapter. He really wanted, more than anything, to confound Malfoy. He loves Sophronia, certainly, but he also loathes Malfoy and enjoys rubbing his face in the fact that Sirius is the one "getting the girl."
As you may know, JKR said in an interview once that Snape is a "deeply horrible person." It gave me a deep satisfaction to have Snape say that about the Interrogator in one of the flashback chapters when he explains to Hermione why she does NOT want to be in the "safehouse" when the Interrogator arrives. Alverard is a psychopath, undoubtedly one of those children who wet his bed, set fires, and tortured little animals.
I got a bit choked up about Harry finally getting his family, as well.
" skinny cherub in the arms of the gaunt ogre, the one assured of her salvation, the other convinced of his damnation."wow..that is word imagry that stabs right through you, like Tolkien or Peter beagle (the last unicorn...just in case). I really like this story, even though I never read the one you keep referring to.

Entmaid, thank you for taking the time to leave a note for me. You can certainly enjoy this story without ever reading The Grand Sophy, but I had to make note that I was basing my story on that one.
You've chosen just about my favourite scene in the whole story. Thank you.
This was a good chapter. I think I'd only skimmed through it before in my haste to catch up over at Ashwinder. I liked Hermione's little comment to Fleur near the end there. My only complaint about this story is that dang Sirius. ~snicker~
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
You're not the only one who hates Sirius, LOL! He is definitely not popular with Severus-lovers because of the "prank" and all that. I just needed every "able-bodied" man available for this story, so I just didn't kill him off.
Yeh, I really liked Hermione's snarky snapping at Fleur, too. Sometimes, as an author, it is just too hard to resist a line like that when it occurs to you.
Oh wow! That was just chock full of stuff! LOVE how Harry had to tackle Ginny to get his point across. I can just picture Ron & Neville's shock at Shadow's suggestion of Harry drawing his wand. Too funny. Isn't it amazing what a bit of good news will do as a cure for many an "illness". hahahaThe Snape girls (and their mother) certainly don't tend to take the easy paths when it comes to their men, do they? Well, Skye and Bill's situation isn't really of their own making, bit it IS one more thing for them to deal with. And oh, to be Sophie and have not one but TWO gorgeous men angling for my attentions - not to mention hand in marriage!!! *swoon*
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I'm glad you liked Harry's method of gaining the attention of "wildcat" Weasley! Hermione *did* perk up when she heard that the Potions master wasn't happy with Fleur's antics! A Subversa story just isn't *on* unless there is LOTS of angst, LOL! I think Sophie is a lucky wench, as well! Thanks for the note, my dear!
Oh my heart just breaks for Hermione. To be so sure of what you want only to see it in the arms of someone else - especially someone as vile as Fleur Delacour! - is just one of the worst feelings of all. And Mr. Severus so sure of himself, but yet, so wrong. Silly man! Can't wait for the next chapter!!!! =)
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
This chapter just about broke my heart, I must confess. I apologize for not answering you before now; somehow I missed a few reviews. Thank you for reading, my dear.
Whoa! This is some situation our beloved pair is caught in. Poor Hermione. She's got a bit of Harry's headstrong-ness in her. But you can't blame her for worrying about her parents. Sev's got quite the job of getting them both out of this alive on his hands. Obviously he succeeded or we wouldn't be reading the other parts of this story, eh? :)Brava!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Severus is doing some good thinking on his feet in this one, for sure. I'm glad you're continuing to enjoy,

-- it's always a pleasure to hear from you!
Well Val ALMOST got what he deserved. HAHA! I understand Severus stepping in, but it would have been nice to see the boys take care of Val their way too. I do love that Draco turned him into a ferret. Very fitting and terribly funny.I think I'm joining the Fleur lynch mob! She's just wicked! How could Severus have considered that over ANYone else?? But I loved how Hermione was "girly" enough to think of her appearance first when she heard his voice. Perfect.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
You enjoyed all my favourite things about this chapter. Draco really has been waiting for a long time to change someone into a ferret -- and how satisfying that it was someone who was hurting his girlfriend! I'm afraid that boys were angry enough with Val to kill him -- and I'm not sure that they could have avoided Azkaban if they had!
You've seen now how Fleur pulled Severus into her trap, as it were -- but I really do think he offered for her out of spite.
Every now and then, a girly Hermione can be fun.
Thank you, as ever, my dear -- it means so much to have a new reader for this story!
Yes a VERY mean place to leave it!! Shame on you!! heheThat faerie silk dress weaves quite the spell. Their dance together was perfect. Just what was hoped for. But it sure set Fleur off. Even better!! Mwahahaha!Val is slime. I can't wait to see what awaits him for his actions.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Well, you lucky duckling, you do not have to wait! You can just toddle on off to ... no, wait ... that chapter is still in queue.*evil cackle*I love the legend of the faerie silk. Fleur is a wee bit jealous, isn't she? Val is such an utter slimeball that I have to wash my hands after I write him. URGH.Thanks for the note!
Ah, the ball, with all of its inherent drama. Lucius's plans would certainly be a bit "scary" to someone like Sophronia (esp if she REALLY knew what he had planned) but it seems he's come up against a snag in the form of Sirius. heheLoved the boys and their reactions to all the girls' preparations. Guess it was more than worth the wait.Draco's manipulation of Lucius' wants was pretty good. He couldn't have been his son and NOT learned how to out-Slytherin people.Neville and Pansy? An interesting combination, but with the gardening/herbology there as a match point it seems to make sense. And of course the jewel (flame colored of course) is Hermione getting Severus to dance with her. YAY!!!!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I do adore this part of the story. Who can resist a big fancy dress party?? Not me ;) Especially not when I picture Severus there in his black formalwear and that Order of Merlin blazing under the chandelieres ... The Sophronia/Lucius/Sirius triangle is an interesting one. Lucius was *so* close to getting what he wanted ...I'm glad you appreciated Draco's sleight of hand. Neville and Pansy were flung into my lap by the Muse, who did it and then giggled at me for the rest of the story. Thanks for the note,
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
! You're catching up with me...
Another lovely chapter. Can't wait for the ball!!!
Ah the inimitable Molly Weasley is on a roll again. She would definitely be something to have for a mother. Poor Shadow pining for Ron. And Ron for her. What a pain love can be!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Shadow and Ron are the angst-filled pair, for sure. Molly cracks me up. Her kids have a certain respect for her, tinged with both fear and exasperation. You are such a good reviewer!
OOOO Fleur is such a . . . . .!!!!!!! I'd be very afraid to be caught in a dark alley alone with Hermione if I were her though! But I see her feathering a bed with her nasty comments. hmmm could be VERY interesting. I LOVE the "What would Dumbledore do?" line. How perfect! Who else would one think of in a situation like that??Just lovely. YAY you!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Hermione and Fleur are finally beginning to show their claws to one another. I'm glad you liked Severus' reaching for inspiration. He did choose a good model, didn't he? Thanks, doll!
I really like seeing Severus' caring of his sisters. He's certainly got his own way of expressing it, doesn't he? But then if he were any other way he wouldn't be "our" Severus, would he? That was quite the trip to the park. Lots to see and do. A nice time was had by all I think.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
He is quite awkward with them, but dutiful. He really wants to do well, but has little notion of how to go about it. A nice time was had by all but poor Remus! Thanks for the note,
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
!
Love this chapter. Go Hermione!
I like how the characters are all coming together in this one, showing us more or less who belongs with whom. I also like that Fleur is notably jealous. Muahahaa. I don't care much for Sirius, so I am prone to skim his parts, but I have to say that I do like Lucius in here... *frown for a later happening*Hehe about the story with the dress. Nothing wrong with showing what you've got, eh? Muahahaha... (Naughty!SW speaks out). Hmmm. Lioness Prophecies. I never could really get into that. I didn't like the Snape much, and I don't particularly like superpower!Hermione with all the answers, but I know many others who enjoyed it.:) Thanks for posting.
Your Lucius is a very interesting character. Still the consummate Slytherin, but in a much more "agreeable" way. He and Hermione working together could be very scary I think. And there goes Fleur being a "witch" again. Love how Hermione knows just how to needle Sev with only a few sentences.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I was uploading a much later chapter this morning and re-visiting Lucius in this story. He is, of course, far from canon in my wildly AU story, but I have a fondness for him. Hermione really does play Severus like a violin. I would be ashamed if I had an ounce of decency
Response from Bentwaters (Reviewer)
NOOOOO, no decency allowed!!!! Heh Heh! (at least not a lot.)
OOOOO I see lots of ingredients to liven the pot with. Sophronia's dealing of Severus' "mood" was great. But as the story said, she did have almost 20 years of living with it to know how to deal. Fleur is a real piece of work.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Sophronia really "handles" Severus, and in such a way that he does not realise he's being handled. Fleur was a real bitch favorite with the readers of this story. The all wanted to see her die a painful death get her just deserts. Thanks for the note, hon!
Oh my, I love it when these two bicker. Nobody does it better!! (and I mean them AND you!) I sit here giggling just picturing the whole "meeting" in Severus' study. Oh to be a fly on the wall - especially after Hermione left.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I begin to feel that Our Professor needs Anger Management classes, courtesy of Subversa.
If you're going to be a fly on the wall, do try to dodge the flying coffee pot!
Response from Bentwaters (Reviewer)
Yes, I'll stay out of the way of the pot. But now I think I'd rather be a fly on your wall if you're going to teach Sev how to "channel his anger" LOL
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Oh, I get to tell my dream story to someone who has not heard it!
During the writing of this story, which spanned a little better than a year, I dreamt of Snape once. In my dream, I woke up in my bed with him lying on top of me, both of us fully clothed; he had one hand over my mouth and his wand at my throat, and he said, "So, you think it is amusing to muck about in my life and toy with my affections?"
Hell, darlin', I want to be a fly on the wall for that session! I'm going to *have* to see that new movie coming out, Stranger Than Fiction -- because I'm convinced that Snape came to feel that way about me ...
Oh my goodness Hermione and her "busybody" ways are a hoot! "So many people with so many problems!" Too funny! I love that she is the belle of the ball and the "dark man" can't figure out why her antics were more on his mind than those of his sisters or his fiancee. LOVED the grand entrance by the young men of the Order. Of couse all those cuties are going to cause a stir anywhere they enter. Sirius deserves to be living it up to the fullest. But is his "time" with Tonks putting a strain on his friendship with Remus? And Harry interested in a Snape?? Hmmm..questions, questions.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Of course, I am twisting Potterverse to fit into Georgette Heyer's Regency London -- specificially, the characters and events of The Grand Sophy -- but it is just the very best fun to do so, I promise you!
Remus is so busy being high-minded and noble that he is more hurt by than angry with Sirius, I think. Yes, poor Harry has been hit by the thunderbolt at the sight of the Fair Skye -- and she is no less dazzled than he, buy his own charms. Thanks for the note, hon!
I just love the image of Severus sitting there twirling his finger in an effort to hurry Minerva up in the telling of her story. You can so totally picture him doing just that thing. Poor Remus and his place as "sniping bait". I guess somebody had to fill it. On to Hermione's arrival...
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
Yes, he's an impatient git, and Minerva, of course, ignores his autocratic ways. Remus is entirely too nice -- but I like it that he slams the door on his way out. Thanks for the note!
Oh boy, here we go on another wonderful journey! Harry Potter and regency romance?? A few of my favorite things! (forgive the Julie Andrews moment) I LOVE Snape's reaction to the news that Hermione was coming to join them. Sublime.
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)

Hi,
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
! I will try to upload a new chapter tonight. Thanks for the note!
Hurray! I'm so glad you've started posting here again! It gives me a wonderful excuse to read it all over again. :)I love Hermione's comments re- foxes in this chapter. Hilarious! One of my all-time favourite stories, as you know!
Response from Subversa (Author of His Draught of Delicate Poison)
I have to give credit to Georgette Heyer for the bit about foxes; in The Grand Sophy it was about horses, but the intent was the same. Thanks for the note, doll. Muah!
Another good chapter. Haha... I like that Hermione reacted the way she did. It was perfect.
I really enjoyed this chapter. That Val is a creep. I hope Tonks and Lupin get straightened out.
