Squee! Wonderfully sensitive and compassionate handling of Hermiones miscarriage. Very believable turn around about family and children by Severous.
It's very sad that she lost their child, but Severus is right they can have more. At least they are together and Severus is no longer afraid of the" L" word. Thank for a wonderful story.
That made me cry. Hooray they are going to be together!ill be looking forward to reading the epilogue.
This chapter has brought tears to my eyes for the second time. I can't tell you how happy I am to have been able to read and enjoy this story a second time. I look forward to reading anything else you come up with.
I had forgotten how beautiful sad happy and gut renching this chapter was. Together at last and a futher that is so bright for them both. I laughed I got angrey and I cried. Welll done LB well done.
Aww. It all ends as it should - Epilogue pending of course. But somehow I sense that you will not let them down.
I'm happy Severus realised his foolishness. He really needs to learn to be a partner and not just a single man with a wife.
I'm looking forward to the Epilogue and to the last Author's Note for this story. Hopefully not the last AN you'll ever write.
You did this before!! Your still a wicked woman!! hahaha!!
Oh no, what a terrible spot to end it. You planned it that way didn't you???
I can understand some of Hermione's worry/paranoia. I too belong to the 'let's jump to the worst possible conclusion club'. Granted, Severus did make his share of mistakes but well, he has never been that up on social graces.
Looking forward to more, sad that it is almost over.
I can only hope that with Padma's normally sensible character, she will have the good sense to let Severus know that Hermione needs him. Hermione is in no fit state to make a sensible decision and she needs her man whether she realizes it or not.
If she is upset that he was unkind to make her wait to hear what happened with Cordelia, he is within his rights to be upset with her for being such a cotton headed ninny-muggins and scaring the shit out of him by ditching him.
You must admit that whenever Hermione perceives she has been slighted by Severus, she becomes awfully self indulgent, with a penchant toward excessive pity partying. She has a very hard time imagining what Severus might be going through, and any distress she imagines he might be feeling, is generally directed at assuming he is blaming her for something unfairly.
She has permission to be miffed over him waiting so long to fill her in on the developments with Cordelia, but only in proportion to his crime. He is only a man, after all.
Bad Girlfriend: She finds that Severus things are gone, jumps to irrational conclusions, that are an insult to Severus' good character, and hides herself away in a flurry if unnecessary wound licking. In other words, "What a little baby!" "Waaa waaa waaa, poor Hermione!" When she is upset she behaves as if she lives in a box and has no regard for how her behavior might affect the lives of the people who love her.
Good Boyfriend: He sees her things are gone, imagines she must have been anxious waiting to hear more and he goes looking for her.
I will tell you straight up that I am The Agoraphobic Hatchet Murderer Insane Pregnant Lady From Hell when I am on the nest. But I still wouldn't do what she is doing without leaving a note telling him he was a prat, and I had gone to visit my girlfriend until he could get around to fitting me into his Oh so busy schedule to let me know what I might possibly be able to expect for the rest of my freaking life! I hope you step in dog poop, Love Hermione. P.S. Happy Christmas. I'll see you tomorrow. Granted, I would have been a total bitch, but I would have left a note. Then, I would have responded promptly to his first note at Padma's and would have felt very sorry for my previous bitchy note by then.
Initially, I sympathized with her gloomy thoughts and feelings of abandonment, but the bottom fell out when she ditched the man she says she loves more than anything and who told her he is willing to leave everything so that they can be together, only hours ago! If she doesn't know anything else about Severus Snape, she has to know he doesn't say things lightly and he keeps his promises.
It is only natural to be very anxious about what he will do when he finds out she is pregnant, but Severus Snape has always shown himself to be an honorable man. She knows he is a good man. If I was Severus, I would be hurt that she seriously spent more than 5 minutes thinking I would leave her and not want my own child. He deserves more consideration than she is giving him. He was thoughtless, but she is being unjustifiably insulting and hurtful.
I'm sure you will fix this up soon. Very soon, I hope. :)
Goodness, what a cliff hanger! And now those letters will remain unread... Thank goodness there are only two days to go until the next chapter!
I honestly don't know if I want to beat him, for trying to be chivalrous and making her panic, or her, for flipping out with very little cause.
I think I've decided I should smash the two of their heads together. *bashbashbash*
I have one word for Severus Snape, multitask get things settled by all means, but let Hermione know what's going on, for Merlins sake it's her life too. Tuesday can't come quick enough.
Ah, yes... The overly emotional and tired pregnant female. What a shame she and Severus won't have more time just to enjoy one another before there is a baby involved. They are so high maintenance and hell on a relationship, not to mention the glass ceiling motherhood imposes on one's career. We really cannot have everything, no matter how many bras we burn.
I hope Severus doesn't think she did it on purpose. Will they need to hire another assistant to take up Hermione's slack when she is on maternity leave? Can they "hire" a displaced house elf as a nanny that can bring the baby for feedings?
I wonder if exposure to certain potions is dangerous for her breastmilk and the baby. I wonder if she has inhaled anything dangerous while brewing while the baby has been in that most sensitive first few weeks of development. It amazes me that although we are fertile only about 5 days a month and that few of us has daily sex or only have sex on certain convenient days of the week such as weekends, so many of us become pregnant without trying to. If only it were so easy to win a lottery.
Bless Uncle Lance. If only all of us could have an Uncle Lance of our very own! Uncle Lance is Cordelia's biggest blessing next to Everand.
Cordelia went easier than I'd thought, thanks to Uncle Lance and his loving ways.
If only... If only...
I wonder how Hermione will work out the housing issue. Maybe Hermione can rent her part of the house to Theo so that he can live there when he comes to visit. Maybe Theo would like to buy it from Hermione. I will have to hex Hermione into next week if she makes a big deal about not getting to live in that house, even if she is pregnant!
Keep these chapters coming my dear! I don't have enough to keep me from reading the news. Maybe someone can suggest a story for me. I only read SS/HG romances so I know it limits me from many wonderful stories here. I really should try to expand. I can't do SS or HG with any other person and I just don't enjoy male slash, though I've tried. Maybe some DM/GW or LM/GW. Someone please let me know if there is a recent SS/HG you think I'd like.
Oh, and you will be published. Oh yes, ...it will happen, little beloved.
NOOOOO....what a cliffhanger!
Hermione is being awfully emotional about this. She should be filled with joy at least at moments, interspersed with anxiety about the future. Severus Snape loves her, for crying out loud!!!! I totally understand her fears, but if you ask me, she is acting like she's pregnant.
I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.
I've only been so tortured and addicted to an unfinished story one other time, many years ago, and it was never finished. I'm so reluctant to start another until this one is finished. I keep trying, but I'm having trouble being interested in other stories. I just want to read this one. Thanks for the new chapter this week.
The worst part about this is that Severus has no idea that he is mucking things up. He has these grand ideas of romance and happiness and starting a new life for them. The problem is that he is not thinking like a woman, especially a hormonal pregnant woman, and he just doesn't see how this could all go belly up. Still, you can't blame Hermione for being angry or scared or whatever else she is feeling. You can just sense the desperation in his demeanor as he visits likely spots to find her. If she could see that, she might perhaps forgive him. But alas ...
Poor Severus, he thought he was doing the right think by waiting until everything was settled, but didn't account for Hermione's state of mind. :0
Aaaacck!!! I know this isn't a Shakespearean tragedy, and you're not going to kill everyone but Uncle Lance off, but I am still having some Denial-induced anxiety... I can wait for Tuesday. I can wait for Tuesday. I can wait for Tuesday... (and I've read this before! I am such an addict!).
Severus' powers of concentration are prodigious. Communication— not so much. I wish Hermione had sent him a reply last night at least telling him she was ok, but he didn't know anything about the baby... so...
I can't remember what happens when Padma gets Hermione to St Mungo's... Aaarrrggghhhhhhh! (I am a bear of very little brain.)
Thank you for this angsty chapter. I hope my heart holds out until Tuesday.
Beth
There are 3 C's that make a successful relationship: Communication, Compassion, and Communication. Maybe they should try those. *headdesk*
I do understand Snape's reasoning, although he's totally clueless that Hermione might be just a teeny bit worried when she doesn't hear from him. I could just smack him upside the head for that! I was actually dreading this chapter because of his behavior, but now it's done!
OMG!!! That was one heck of a cliffy, I can't wait to read more!
OMG!!! That was one heck of a cliffy, I can't wait to read more!
What on earth would they do without Lance? He is endearingly stubborn, infinitely kind, truly loving, has the patience of a saint, and is supremely wise. What would any of us do without him?
Now that the big issues between Severus and Cordelia have been sorted out, what will happen with our Hermione? I'm off to the next chapter!
(Weekends are for catching up.)
Beth
You wicked, wicked woman, you! Loved all the angst in the chapter. Looking forward to re-reading the penultimate chapter!
