In spring 1980, Severus Snape hears a portion of a prophecy that will change the course of wizarding and Muggle history. The Dark Lord must choose a boy, but which? Snape is sent to discover the boy’s identity, but the answers he seeks are not to be found in his world. Rated M for violence and eventual sexual situations. SS/HG.

Twentysomething lover of Harry Potter fic. I have served as a beta (btw, i am P.I. accredited) for many authors, and welcome the opportunity to do more. I also serve as co-moderator of the LJ community ptterpr0nprmpts along with the fantabulous tonksinger.
I've been around the fandom for a long time... probably since 2003. I've spent most of it lurking, but published some stories under an old pseudonym. Upon entering the fandom, I immediately became a fan of the Snape/Granger pairing. I prefer Hermione to be a bit older, but have been known to deviate from that preference. Other ships that I prefer include Draco/Ginny, Draco/Harry, Snape/Lupin, and Snape/McGonagall. I am open to most ships and recommendations, as ultimately it is this universe that I love.

Interesting confrontation! Not to mention how gruesome the thought of him lying there, dying, for SEVEN hours. Yikes! No wonder his portrait was surly! I'm ever so curious to see how she's able to convince him to come around... and how that changes things!

Mmmm... love it! Glad Severus' is in one piece (and with his wits enough to goggle at Hermione's breasts in her nightie--I love these details slid in during all the angst and action; well, he is a young Death Eater, and what's a young Death Eater to do being at the mercy of a half-clad powerful witch?- hehe!) Seriously, I can't wait to see what Hermione's going to do with him--but have a feeling it's not going to be a pleasant experience at first--he may be young, but he is still Snape! Can't wait for the reality of his situation to sink in... love the touch of ambiguity regarding his 'older' self... both the reference to his grave and missing in his portrait... Wondering if Hermione's nightmares will lessen or get worse? And again--what is she going to do with him?! Looking forward to more! Soon!

I love this story for a whole new reason! My favorite lines are these: >>At this point, she knew more about him than she probably cared to, but the person responsible for his memory had to know and care. Lord knows Rita fucking Skeeter hadn’t given him the respect he deserved. To be sure, she painted him as a hero, an Edward Rochester of a dark, brooding man. And naturally, there was some small room for comparison. But hell, she had basically used Snape’s life as a vehicle to rewrite Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights combined, and no one had seemed to notice. To which I concur and affirm in my belief that Snape had more in common with John Lennon than any Regency character! But, I digress. I've studied Lennon for almost 30 years, so forgive me if I've lost you as to why. I do love this story. I love "second chance" stories the most, or "do overs", and this is dramatic enough to whet my appetite as well. I'll be hanging on the edge of my seat to see how exactly Hermione can hide him (as I feel he's going to be quite the slippery one!), explain to him what's happened outside of the attic (YIKES!! Won't that be freaky for him!), and try not falling for this guy! Hurry up, dear author, I'm hooked good!

Good heavens but portrait-Snape is a git! Could he possibly be any nastier to her? And young-Snape isn't much better. I do hope he hasn't got loose. I'm wondering, though, whether portrait-Snape hasn't vanished because of the presence of his living self. You'd think they'd be mutually exclusive. And the description of the two-day old body.... Yuck. This is clearly not going to be one of those stories where he has sneaked off and they've buried an empty coffin. An intriguing premise. I look forward to seeing how you work out all the twists.
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
He could be nastier--he's just choosing to rein himself in :-P. Young Snape is a Death Eater. I would imagine he's not very warm and fuzzy. And yes, there are tons of twist that I definitely have to work out (and think I have worked out). We'll see as I post, though. Thanks for the review.

Loving it. You've evoked a very firm sense of space, established her guilt and fear about the situation (post Severus' death - excellent creepy touch there about when he died by the way) and placed a younger, more vulnerable and yet emphatically in character Snape in her time. Interesting that you gave her an incoherent response to the shock of his arrival (breaking things). Not going to talk and reason about her horror and surprise - a more visceral response. Why did you choose to take that approach? Really interesting ideas. Next chapter, please!!!
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
Thanks for all the kinds words! I went with the freak out/break things approach because sometimes even the smartest people can't express themselves, and in my experience, it's usually triggered by horror, shame, and fear. I imagine Hermione was feeling a little of all these things.
Response from Proulxes (Reviewer)
Agreed. It also gets you a more dramatic and visceral reaction, emphasises her vulnerability to this situation and makes the whole 'arrival' more jarring. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

Oh, man... he was alive for SEVEN hours?? How awful!I am glad that Hermione was able to get the jump on young Snape. She'd probably be dead, otherwise. He's gonna be livid when she gets to him. This story is great!! I wish it was all here. I hate waiting.
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
Yeah, but he was unconscious for most of it :-P. I'm sorry you hate waiting... I promise to update regularly though!

Future time travel! What fun! I look forward to seeing what you do with this. As in the last chapter, your depiction of Voldermort is satisfyingly creepy and evil-minded. How horrible to give Snape an experimental Time-Turner that might kill him and tell him that if he doesn't return in a week, his mother will be murdered. And of course Voldermort is assuming that his nemesis won't be able to kill him until he's 20--no conception that he may have done so by the time Snape arrives. Should be interesting. One tiny confusion: How can Narcissa be talking about Draco while she's pregnant, presumably with him? He's only a few months older than Harry, as I remember, but she couldn't be visibly pregnant again so quickly.
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
I looked up the dates on Draco. It works. Thanks for the review.
Response from amr (Reviewer)
I agree that it works that she'd be pregnant with him. But you say "Everyone else at the table conversed around him—Narcissa prattling on about Draco, Bellatrix feigning indifference, but looking secretly jealous." It sounds as if he's already been born, since there's not really anything to say about him (or be secretly jealous about) if he's still in the womb. And given the traditional formality of the Malfoys, I can't see Narcissa prattling publicly about her unborn child's kicks or medical tests in mixed company.

Yay, time turner! That's quite an experience Severus goes through, whipping forward those twenty years. I'm figuring he should arrive somewhere around 6th year? Somewhere along the line he's going to have to learn to shield his mind from Voldemort.

Awww, just love Severus and Dobby's dynamics; love the luncheon scene with everyone acting and responding, walking on eggs around Voldy--perfect tension! Yay, just love this premise and the trepidation it instills--I confess, I got completely creeped out, goosebumps and all, by Voldy's comment, 'By no means run into your future self. It may cause… problems.' He's such a jealous psycho--wanting Severus dead already one way or another--with the threat of Eileen to be murdered thrown in... Looking forward to following this journey!

Oh, my! One can only guess who the female was. (Reader whistles to themselves nonchalantly) Can I give a woot woot for the idea of Severus with a goatee? Drool!
