In spring 1980, Severus Snape hears a portion of a prophecy that will change the course of wizarding and Muggle history. The Dark Lord must choose a boy, but which? Snape is sent to discover the boy’s identity, but the answers he seeks are not to be found in his world. Rated M for violence and eventual sexual situations. SS/HG.

Twentysomething lover of Harry Potter fic. I have served as a beta (btw, i am P.I. accredited) for many authors, and welcome the opportunity to do more. I also serve as co-moderator of the LJ community ptterpr0nprmpts along with the fantabulous tonksinger.
I've been around the fandom for a long time... probably since 2003. I've spent most of it lurking, but published some stories under an old pseudonym. Upon entering the fandom, I immediately became a fan of the Snape/Granger pairing. I prefer Hermione to be a bit older, but have been known to deviate from that preference. Other ships that I prefer include Draco/Ginny, Draco/Harry, Snape/Lupin, and Snape/McGonagall. I am open to most ships and recommendations, as ultimately it is this universe that I love.

This is sheer magic and I get really excited to see when you have updated. Younger Sev versus Older Sev.......I usually always go for the older man....still looking for a sugar daddy syndrome you see but I do love his younger version too. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxxx.

I can just see Snape's portrait turning to younger Severus and saying that. I think I would faint too!
Very interesting chapter. I can hardly wait for more

My goodness this is lovely! I love it when I get caught up in the story and can't figure out what is going to happen next. I'm wondering how much Snape is going to enjoy being the object of his own much more well-honed snark. Looking forward to what happens next.

Oh, this is shaping up to be such a great story that I can hardly wait for the next update. I am really not sure where you will go with this story, but I am crossing my fingers and hoping that it will not be a particular `end` and Epilogue compliant. Thank you very much for sharing and eagerly anticipating the next instalment. In the meantime, have a nice vacation. ;)

Snape's a working class hero, just like I like him; LOL! You can take the boy out of the country...! But unlike most milltown boys, this one's smart as a whip and figured out just enough to shock the shot out of our Hermione. Wonder how she's going to deal with it?
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
she'll probably overprepare and try to find every possible answer in advance. at least i assume so. i didn't write this or anything :-P

His methodical ransacking of her living space was AWESOME. As was his logical conclusion at the end. Nicely done!

Very nice indeed. Not leaving us hanging for two weeks, of course, but the chapter's nice. So Severus has figured out that he's dead, but I don't quite see why his Mark would tell him that (the record is a much better clue). He seems strangely incurious about what's downstairs and why she's living in the attic of his house, if she's the owner, now. Also, he's obviously not as ruthless as he thinks he is. If he can light a cigarette, he presumably can burn the entire place down, which would get him out, and probably really piss her off. Or, if he's worried about where she's got his wand stashed, he could burn a small hole through the floor.... (Clearly the delay in your next post has got me feeling trapped!)
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
all will be revealed. and a cigarette is only a small flame. and besides, why would he want to burn himself down too? her wards wouldn't let him out of the house and he'd just be trapped.

Love the set up and mystery around Severus' nosebleed and curious to what level of damage has been done to Severus from going forward in time. Was waiting for Hermione to confide or rather let slip something with Minerva... Wonder if Minerva will be as curious as a cat regarding Hermione's questions--looking forward to more revelations and how and if ermione will really want to send him back, knowing everytings she knows about his 'fate'--what a burden to carry! xxx

yeah, i was waiting for Hermione to screw it up too. even she surprises me sometimes :-P. i love this chapter. in my mind, this is where the action really starts building. thanks for the feedback!

Whoops! I read and reviewed this on the wrong site. Oh, well.. I don't mind leaving another review for such an excellent chapter.Since you'll be gone anyway, can I borrow Severus shirtless and Y-front-less while you're away? I promise to take REALLY good care of him.

Enjoyed cigarette-wielding-whiskey-swilling-sarcastic-underwear-less Snape and will keep trying to figure out your timelines while waiting with some anticipation for the contents of her bedside cabinet to recur again in the story. Have a good trip!

Wait, you're leaving?! I'm not going to get any more for two whole weeks?! You're killing me here. I'll be dead of the suspense by the time you get back! (Seriously, another great chapter -- Severus behaving just as contrarily as I'd expect him to, and being smart enough to figure out that he must be dead. Love this story!!!)

TWO WHOLE WEEKS. I'M SUCH AN ANTI-MENSCH! thanks for the obviously pandered-for review :-P.

Loved the detail descriptions of his belongings... and Hermione's belongings:-) Really got the feel of a younger-more-jauntier Severus with his analisation of Hermione and his situation, and of course, his almost caustic conclusion and revelation to Hermione of his death. Great cliffie! *groaning* Can't wait to read her response (but we'll have to, won't we?) Have a great trip!xxx
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
Glad you enjoyed it! Even if I did leave it on a cliffhanger.

Hm. She's actually giving him a LOT of trust, here. Here's what I have difficulty understanding: if Snape had already traveled forward in time and met Hermione, he would have remembered her when she came to school. SOMETHING has to happen for him to realign with Dumbledore, since he hasn't done so quite yet... and if it were Hermione who influenced him, then he REALLY would have remembered her when she came to school. Hm... my mind is bending a bit. :)

I love the conversation with Minerva as much as anything else in this chapter -- they're both so very much IC, which is wonderful. (Poor Hermione -- trying to be subtle and not very good at it still!)

Great chapter! Mmmmm... Properties of silver compared to gold? Will any of his actions currently now affect his portrait self immediately/concurrently, or will you be playing with different time lines? Can Snape fly without his wand...? Questions, questions! Really intrigued by this story!
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
his actions will do things... but i can't say *what* things :-P. the goal is *not* to have other timelines, so figure that out ;). i'm not even sure i did! thanks for the review :)

I'm suprised that when Hermione left, she didn't make the 'eyes watching you' sign to Portrait Severus! LOL!

Death Eater Severus and Portrait Severus are frustrating, to say the least. I've been wondering if, somehow, Hermione is the "younger woman from Hogsmeade" mentioned in the last chapter. Hmmmm...I love this story.
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
oh yes, they are quite frustrating. and interesting insight onto that "younger woman." i'm not going to answer that question :-P. thanks for the review!

This continues to be fascinating. I loved Snape's shock at her knowing about Sectumsempra--and she actually used Muffliato, which must have been equally annoying. The bloody nose is worrisome, given that he hasn't had them previously. (Snape has always struck me as a high-blood-pressure kind of guy.) I assume that the Time-Turner will take him back, though. Voldemort certainly assumed that, or there'd be no point in having sent him 20 years forward. It would merely be a waste of a valuable underling. And Hermione saw that memory, so she presumably knows that, too. Why is she so reluctant to tell him the date, though? It's when he thought he would arrive.
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
She's reluctant to tell him anything, honestly. And you're right, the bloody nose *is* worrisome! Thanks for the review.

Aww shit. You go writing a really compelling first chapter (love the POV) label it with my very favorite ship, and then say it's going to be "canon compliant. I'm dead serious." You evil, evil writer. Now I have no choice but to read and no doubt become horribly depressed when Severus dies and Hermione ends up breeding Weasleys! Huzzah for a great first chapter; I can't wait to read more.

So far, very interesting! I look forward to finding out how you manage canon compliance, as I think that can sometimes be more challenging, but ultimately more satisfying! And I am very glad to hear that the story is finished except for polishing and fine tuning, so to speak.I also liked the kicking peacocks line, especially since I just read something where Severus kicked Mrs. Norris in frustration. Is a pattern emerging?

thanks so much for the comments! i didn't realize fandom-Snape was going on a kicking rampage. good to know ;)

Eep. Have been warned, but will not be able to keep from reading the story. And if it's anything like this chapter .... eep.Wonderful take on the Trelawney scene, and Dobby liking Sev. Poor Severus, things are ongly going to go downhill for you from here. ~weeps~
