In spring 1980, Severus Snape hears a portion of a prophecy that will change the course of wizarding and Muggle history. The Dark Lord must choose a boy, but which? Snape is sent to discover the boy’s identity, but the answers he seeks are not to be found in his world. Rated M for violence and eventual sexual situations. SS/HG.

Twentysomething lover of Harry Potter fic. I have served as a beta (btw, i am P.I. accredited) for many authors, and welcome the opportunity to do more. I also serve as co-moderator of the LJ community ptterpr0nprmpts along with the fantabulous tonksinger.
I've been around the fandom for a long time... probably since 2003. I've spent most of it lurking, but published some stories under an old pseudonym. Upon entering the fandom, I immediately became a fan of the Snape/Granger pairing. I prefer Hermione to be a bit older, but have been known to deviate from that preference. Other ships that I prefer include Draco/Ginny, Draco/Harry, Snape/Lupin, and Snape/McGonagall. I am open to most ships and recommendations, as ultimately it is this universe that I love.

Love the insight into Hermione & Ron's past--and arry's revealing letter into the matter of things between them all; Ronad rarely gets any deeper understanding, so it was lovely having some here for Hermione to contemplate!

yeah... she's a steamroller. she needs to be forced to put things into perspective sometimes.

Sev crying in his night terror and being held and comforted by Hermione really was beautiful and left me breathless--so lovely... and then to have it reciprocated leaves me all cathartic-ly (know it's not a real word-lol!) gushy and fuzzy inside-- He is such a bad, bad, big, bad Death Eater boy leaving her teased like that (but I'm glad he's retaining this aspect of himself - hehe!) Dynamic wonderful chapter as 'always' -- hope you enjoy giving us readers mini-heart attacks of emotion and *expectation*!

Even though I guffawed outloud continually at your wonderful caustic humour, by the time I reached this: 'In that way, he supposed his Lord was fair: he beat all of them with equal vigor. He waited until they had branded themselves for life to reveal this, but he was at least egalitarian in his cruelty.' I had truly become undone---wonderful rich detailed chapter!!! Gaga over all of Rita's back story, all the inclusions of Snape's past life (especially Regulus')--and am breathess with expectation of what and how the younger Snape will do with all of this. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant-- thank you!!!

I just started reading this today...it's very well done! i'm not the biggest fan of time-turner fics, but this one has me hooked. i love that he had spelled his journal to include notes to her. How the entries were written by you makes me want to read a whole book of them. I need the next chapter update to be now!
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)

Yes, I understand completely why you really love this chapter--so do we!!! The eavy detailed narrative and layering on of the mounting effect on Hermione and, of course, Severus' discovery of his future and present *self*--really powerful, brilliant, dynamic chapter!!!

"The man had weird guilt associated with love—probably because he’s the only wizard in our world that actually fell for a Dark Lord, if that Skeeter woman is to be believed." brilliant line, but not enough to make me not want to sob out loud right now. Sniffle. ~honk~

I have loved this story from the beginning. Such a unique take on all the time turner stories out there. I love your writing style (and even more now seeing you're Doctor Who fan in your response to amr!). Can't wait for the final chapters!

I don't know what to say. I love your writing and your story........but don't make me cry please. You have the power to make me very happy. There was once this girl called Jo and she made me distraught.....get the drift? Best wishes.....Love, a quite perturbed and anxious Ali xxxx.

Well, you did give us that hint about Hermione not understanding what Ron really wanted, and you made it clear how obtuse she'd been in her relationship with him. So I can see where you may be going to have her ultimate happiness be with him, and her role as an inspiration to Severus's heroic life just become a warm memory that gives her confidence and private happiness. On the other hand, what about that True-Love's Kiss curse? "A kiss from your beloved"--does that mean a kiss from one who loves you, or one whom you love? I would sort of assume the latter, in which case, can Hermione really be happy with someone who is not her "True-Love"? (Of course she can--millions are--but we're talking stories here.)Oh, and the chapter was brilliant, of course. I look forward (avidly) to your next (final?) chapter.

well, she did say that her regard for him went far before year 5, so there were some feelings there. that, plus his feelings, plus the whole fact that time isn't a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff... it works :pi have three more chapters and an epilogue :).
Response from amr (Reviewer)
That's good. Four more chapters is good. Far too long (given that you're a very efficient and spare writer) for her simply to mourn for a bit and then one day open her eyes and realize that Ron loves her and she loves him and that is the way things were meant to be. Actually, I don't think that would take more than one chapter, and it would be too depressing for words into the bargain. Good. I like four chapters, even if one is an epilogue. But.... "time-y wimey"???
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
You are not a Doctor Who fan. That makes me sad.
Response from amr (Reviewer)
Don't be sad. Actually, I was quite a rabid Doctor Who fan for many years. But it all went downhill after Tom Baker, I thought, and I stopped watching, I think during Colin Baker's stint, because there was this horrible "American" girl with a totally implausible accent that I simply couldn't bear. But if I ever heard "time-y wimey," I'd forgotten it.

New doctor who. Doctors nine thru eleven. Mostly ten.

Poor Severus and Hermione. I hope Hermione will be able to have peace once she knows thatt whatever Severus sacrificed was done in order to protect her future. Or will she? Am certainly looking forward to finding out in the coming chapters. Thank you!

OK time travel stuff always confuses me..Are we meant to think that Older Snape has already experienced making love to Hermione ?Or will this change him(even though he's a portait now) ?
Response from astopperindeath (Author of Yet Everything Stays the Same)
he already did. at the moment that young snape did. b/c he is young snape 20 years in the future. but also dead.

Well the lemons were brilliant but you should be cringing for leaving us like that. You need a good skelp on the arse young lady and I know just the Potions Master to administer it. Right...that feels better. This was an excellent chapter and the bit that really stood out for me was when Severus realised how many times Hermione had fantasised about "loving" him and therefore how excellently she executed her actions. Fantastic stuff and great to know that the story is complete. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxxx.

I'm NOT going to complain, since you already know my heart is breaking. (Hm, that's a bit complainy, isn't it? Sorry.) It really was a lovely chapter. Very well done. The tenderness and connection was palpable. (I'm wondering if she's on some sort of contraception...)
