Or Potter's Idiotic Sycophants Should Have Every Advantage Denied
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
I'm joining the PISSHEADs now!
I don't know which was worse, hearing what Mlle Bien-Aimée said to Remus (and misunderstanding it), or having to put up with James, Sirius, and Peter. I'd trade all three of them for a bandy legged goat and a rusty nail. James' true nature came out tonight in spades. I don't know what is going to happen in your story, but I am absolutely coming along for the ride. I don't remember reading a story with this sort of plot before. To say that I am hooked would be a clear understatement.Keep up the good work, quaffs!Beth
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
I'd even trade them for a three-legged, bandy goat and a bent, rusty nail. Anything would be better than that crowd.
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
PS. would even accept a rusty nail cocktail!
This is my favorite chapter so far. I am happy that Mlle Bien-Aimée is taking the time to teach Severus new and extraordinary skills like flying. And I realize that a student kissing a teacher is not a usual occurrence, but I think she is trying to prepare him for the difficult times that are in his future, and knowing that someone has your back is good. Besides, she knows so much more about him than she lets on. I have my own ideas on that, but I am content to follow the story where you lead. I was down right tickled that Potter and Black were playing a Quidditch match in a frigid gale in the North of Scotland. I hope they lost the match and froze their butts off, too.I think the things Severus learned about harvesting these Potions ingredients today will come in handy in the future, and watching jets take off right over you is a real buzz. It'll set your heart racing. Thanks for this great chapter!!!! Beth

Thanks for another great review. Read on and enjoy!
oh no...so many misunderstandings...and Lily, how could you???

More is on it's way.
I like your interpretation of the events seen in the Pensieve during OotP. This was outstanding. James is definitely a git.
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Yep! Definitely a git.
Sigh, even when things don't go quite right, this is still a lovely story. Loved her whispering to him about not being a coward.
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Thank you. I'm glad your enjoying it.
Potter is such a creep. Almost feel like giving Voldie a medal. :)
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Go & hex James into oblivion.

I have to say I was really disappointed in this chapter... because there was no NEXT ARROW!
Pen tells me this is finished, it's just waiting on beta.
*pokes Pen with stick*
Well done, poor Severus.
:)
Author's Response: Can't poke Pen. It might make her red correction pen skitter across the page too much. She has enough trouble wrestling with my errant commas, without me prodding her. Besides, she is all up to date. It's the validation process which slows it down. Sometimes it's mega quick, but if the queue is too long and the poor admins are snowed under...
KingPhilipsWench's response: But I *like* poking Pen.
Author's Response: No poking! I tell you - she won't send any wine. I said she should advise you to go to M&S and buy yourself some. She reckons I am a big cheapskate. Meh! Just a practical Scot!
Once again James Potter proves just what a no-count git he is. *shakes head* What is wrong with Lily? It really does seem that House affiliation is more important to her than it is to Severus.I'm glad to see Severus and Remus coming to a better understanding of each other and a sense of respect for one another is growing. Perhaps that is why Mlle Bien-Aimée is determined to guide Severus to a better outcome, and why Dumbledore is insisting that Remus work on this Wolfsbane potion with Severus.I thought it was extremely interesting that Mlle Bien-Aimée was watching Severus rage into the storm after Potter's lying mouth got him in trouble. And perhaps even more interesting was the fact that Remus came out into the storm to offer Snape a supporting gesture and tried to get him to come in out of the rain and lightening.Thank you for this wonderful update! Beth
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Thanks for another wonderful review, Beth. More updates are waiting in the wings.
I must say that when I read the summary for this chapter, I thought it was going to be about the incident that took place after OWLs. So does the OWLs incident still happen in your story or has that now been changed since Lily thinks ill of Snape before that occurred? (This is assuming that I have the timeline of the story correct and that the incident that occurred in this chapter occurred before OWLs.)
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Have I got timeline wrinkles and canon holes showing? You'll have to read on and find out.
Oh, now that's wonderful that Severus and Remus have made a sort of friendship. I wonder what that will do for Severus' future? And Lily? She never was worth the time Severus put in to her. Always siding with the guys who were total jerks. She definitely got what she deserved in Potter.
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
You don't like Lily much, do you? D'you reckon a friendship between Severus & Remus might work?
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Nope. I think she matured and was a good mom/wife, but in her earlier years... two faced. As for Remus and Severus? Yep, I think it does work, and as for your prologue, it definitely will work.
I do like seeing Remus on Sev's side. :)
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
He's such a nice young lad.
Still say it's Hermione. *grin* Oh well, I can wait for the unveiling. ^_^
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Keep reading, let's find out.
She's a dabblin where she probably shouldn't be dabblin. (But we love when she dabbles here, right?)
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Right!
OH MY COD. i love this. i am gunna have to bookmark it. was this discussed over tea breaks?? oh i hope so!
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Hi, lass! I'm glad your cod loves this. You know what Sunny's like at morning tea. She said she had a great idea for me, then she'd keep coming back, raising the eyebrows & asking 'Well? Is it done yet?" Well, it is done! And hopefully it is done well. It was supposed to be only a short thing, but got a bit carried away with itself.Back to real life now.
Gracious, woman! Every chapter is wonderful, and each one is better than the one before.I cracked up when Mlle Bien-Aimée told him to hold the legs and Severus took her literally. “I meant for you to hold the legs of the ladder, you know." Maybe this experience will take his mind off Lily since she seems to be upset with him again. When the Potions professor touched his cheek and said/thought, “Oh! Severus, you are so...” Young... innocent... unmarked," I got the strangest feeling that she knows him... but he doesn't seem to recall knowing her.I'm with Severus. What the hell happened there? Thanks for another wonderful and intriguing chapter!!!Beth
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
What the hell happened, indeed? This is a finished story, so feel free to continue to read & enjoy.
Severus doesn't know that Remus is a werewolf? That last sentence caught me by surprise. At the beginning of this chapter when Severus thought to himself that he hated sitting next ot Lupin because of his "wet-dog body odour," I just natrually assumed that he knew Remus' secret. Well done!Beth
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Severus is a teenage boy. There's an awful lot he doesn't know. Thanks for the review, Beth.
This first chapter is great! At first I thought it might be a one-shot, but I'm glad to see you are posting more chapters. I can't wait to find out why what happens to Severus during his trial. Beth
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
This is my first long fic. I hope you continue to enjoy it.
A very intriguing beginning.I enjoy stories that incorporate Snape's past with his present.I can hardly wait to see where you go with this.
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Let's hope it continues to intrigue you. Thanks for reviewing.

Heh. Legs. This is so much better than anyone else's work from New Zealand. I can't wait for your next chapter.
Author's Response: She'll not send you any more NZ wine if you don't play nice.
KingPhilipsWench's response: She doesn't anyway. It's illegal. *sulks* Damn my puritan founded country! And... dont' tell her this but I sent her a treat for her birthday (it's a bit late but the stupid Royal Mail is abyssmal and will take a month to get there).
Author's Response: She shared her wine gums with me. Just now sucking on a Sherry gum.
Blew it with Lily then a moment with the Potions Prof. You are really messing around with that boy's brain! :)
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
He's a teenager. Life is confusing for teenage boys. Thanks for the beta work, Pen. this chapter had no corrections reequired. Yay!
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
See! I need you. I can't even spell by myself.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
Hey, come into the chatroom and talk to us. http://www.chatzy.com/778407020038
I sent her one bottle before I realised it was not allowed. It got through, despite being in a wine bottle box and clearly marked, "wine"!
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
Do they arrest you if you get caught posting wine? Can we try again?
I still say it's Hermione using a Time-Turner. *grin*
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
You'll have to keep reading to find out.
This is good. I can't wait to see who this new professor is....she reminds me of Hermione but how? Hmmmmm......
Response from quaffswinegaily (Author of A Man's Best Friend)
How indeed?
