It began with a letter, and a secret. Was it madness to trust? Was it a secret salvation? Or was it all just lying on a ring, in the end...? (***HBP SPOILERS***)

I have to apologize to everyone, period. Real life swallowed me whole, as I have been struggling to make a living writing original fiction over the last 8 years. It has not been easy, & has been complicated by health issues. I hope people can forgive my long silences. Trying to make enough money to live on from writing is a lot harder--waaaay harder--than it looks. (At least I didn't leave any posted fanfics unfinished.)
Anyhoo...
These stories are works of parody (& thus are allowable under US law), and are not written for profit. Just for fun. I'm not making any money off of any fanfics, nor will I ever. I'm just playing around in other writers' universes.
...I am, however, making something of a living off my own stories. (If anyone wants to play around in my universes, you may visit my website, www.jeanjohnson.net, and look up my policy on Fanfics & Fanarts. It's reasonable enough and fairly easy to follow, too...)

Oooh, found this from the TPP ficrec. Settling in for what looks like a very fine story.
Without a doubt one of the very best SS/HG stories I've ever read. Many, many thanks for writing it! I will read this over and over throughout the years, so continued thanks for ears worth of enjoyment!
Wow - what a huge story! I loved it. Drama, suspense, angst, romance.... the whole package! Thank you very much for sharing.
Thats thats not exactly how Id planned on coming out of the closet
A huse HAHA to that statement :D
I'm revisiting this story and I'm enjoying it again, so far. One small nitpick - as a Canadian, the way you use 'eh' in sentences sticks out like a sore thumb. It's tough to get it right, but a native definitely notices the odd placement ;)
No matter how many times I read the end of this chapter, I still end up crying... Great job on the story! ... Man, I really don't want to explain the tears to my roommate... lol...
Amazingly good story! And the wonderful ending choked me up! Thanks for a new favorite of mine!
Awsome story! I loved it!
LOL,if the man whom was making love to me kept chanting my middle name during climnax and also only ever called me by it, when it had never been a nickname i was called by, i would hex his bollocks off!!, But apart from that annoyance from Severus, which i might add Hermione does him the curtesy of using his given name herself, it is a great story:))
Brilliant Story! A true epic!
This is a wonderful story! Congratulations!!! You are a really good writer
Wow! This is fantastic! I'm not sure how I've missed reading it before, but it's possible the length put me off - but it was well worth the effort! I think you did a great job with all the characters - they were very believable. The way you had them destroy the various horcrux and eventually Voldemort, including Harry's "death", were ingenious! It was clever and engaging and I really, really enjoyed it!
There are a couple of references by other reviewers to related art - I've seen the portraits of Russel and Severus, but couldn't find the one referenced by Ginny_W by Lana Macnair of Hermione, Severus and Russel - any chance you have a link for it?
'Nother good chapter! Clicking over to the next one!
absolutely brilliant this should have been how the seventh book should have been BRAVO u have got to be the most talented writer ever and lol at snape in a kilt throughout this entire story
Yup, this story is still as magic as the very first time I read it, I don't think my love for "In Annulo" will ever end:-))

Fantastic Story! I liked it much better than the original 7th book. I found your use of "muggle" CPR a stroke of genius. Also your trio showed much more signs of growing up (Severus too!). All in all a very, very good effort.

Thank you! This was the story that netted me the attention of a publishing house editor...which explains why it's taken me so long to respond to your review. (I waskidnapped and held ransom for the last year by plot-bunnies and house-buying elves.)It's almost June 2010, and I still haven't read HP 7. I don't think I ever will. I like this version too much. 8D~Lotm
Too much exposition. Stop writing.
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of In Annulo)
Thank you for the suggestion, but as you can see, the story has already been completed and cannot be changed now. As for writing in general, I love it too much to stop. I do try to improve my wring with each new story (there is always room for improvement)...but I sha'n't stop writing, period. Since I've now made a career of it, obviously it's improved a bit...but as I said, always room for more.I hope you can find something you like a bit more among the other good authors on this site,~Lotm
Really beautiful. I feel absilutely bursting with nerves after reading it. Quite ingenious. I love the Cadfael reference. And SHrewsbury. Not entirely sure they were intentional, but my mother got me hooked on the Cadfael mysteries when I was younger. Brilliant.~Mia

It was deliberate. I love Cadfael, too.~Lotm(kidnapped and held ransom for the last year by plot-bunnies and house-buying elves)
I'd keep reading, but I'm appalled at the high level of maturity you're attributing to the waste of oxygen named Ron Weasel. Thinking like a chessmaster, indeed. The idiot has a mental age of eight, don't you know?
Now that Harry is officially Hermione's brother, will he finally, just once, pick her side in an argument? Or will it be back to his usual Bros B4 Hos attitude? Will he continue to pick Weasleys over her like he does in canon? Staying neutral in an argument where she's correct is the same as picking Ron's side.

Actually, In Annulo was my attempt at correcting all the Ron-bashing that had gone on in fannon...and even in JKR's canon. As I've stated in the author's notes, she starts out with Ron being smart enough to win brilliantly at chess. People who can do that are not thickies. They may have the occasional dumb moment, but they aren't thickies in all things. Watching the author herself bash Ron down into a lamprey-eel level of thickie-ness drove me to write him as being smarter than that. I wanted a Ron who was multifaceted and capable of maturing in many ways...which meant I kinda dipped into Harry-bash mode, alas.I honestly believe the Ron we first see at the beginning of the HP books, and up to the third book, is capable of becoming this Ron. What JKR did to many of her characters (not just him), particularly by book 6 both saddened and disappointed me as a fellow writer. There also an awful lot of Ron!bashing fanfics being posted online at about the same time as the start of this story, hence this version of him.~Lotm(would've responded sooner, but...kidnapped and held ransom for the last year by plot-bunnies and house-buying elves)
absolutely loved the story witty and intelligent thanx for a great read!
I know that you wrote this story over three years ago and it is one of my favorites. I find that I keep going back to it. There is only one thing I think I would have liked to see and it could have been a little attached story for when you finished this was Snapes reaction in the beginning when she was talking (writing) dirty to him and then licking his seamen off the parchment. This was a man who was supposed to dislike her and I was courios as to his thoughts thru out the beginning of this story. When he feel in love with her and what was going through his mind when they made love the first time. Thats all nothing much. Sevibaby

Something along the lines of (pardon the vulgarity)... "Whoa, Fuck! She did WHAT to that??" And then a re-estimation of her obvious kink-factor despite her rather straightforward Gryffindorish attitudePlus, prior to that would've been a panicked, "Oh, crap, I didn't realise THAT liquid would get transmitted, too!"~Lotmswamped by original plot-bunnies
This is THE best fanfiction I've read. The characterization was excellent, and I love that I got to see the Severus I always wanted to see in the books. I also loved the focus on Hermione, because I feel like you never get to see that enough, especially in a situation where she's a strong, capable woman on her own, not the sidekick. I thought the horcrux hunt was far more entertaining than the actual hunt. I've never read a Hermione/Snape fic before, but I find it highly plausable. You've converted me to the ship! Also, I read this non-stop in one and a half days. I couldn't put it down!

*muahahahas and cuddlehugs you*Thank you! This one was my post-book-6 therapy to recover from what felt like a kick to the gut...~Lotm
well I obviously haven't finished reading yet, but this is definitely my favorite chapter so far. the end was just :D
This was a very sexy story. And very well-written. At first, I was certain Severus was Russel. Then you actually managed to throw me off the trail a little bit, making me think I was wrong. Then when it came out, I had to stop myself from growling at the simple fact that you'd thrown me off my assurances. Doesn't happen much. Very well done, very sexy, and believable in the context of the HP universe. I actually like this better than the 'actual' war/horcrux hunt, etc.

What can I say, but...muahahaha?*hugs*~Lotmcrawling out from under the mountain of original plot-bunnies for a brief break...
Loved it!! I could write a long message on how much I loved this, but there are not enough wonderful words to describe how much I loved it. Just know that this has to be one of the most amazing SS/HG fictions I have ever read. Well done, well done!
Response from ladyofthemasque (Author of In Annulo)
Thank you!If you like what I did with SS/HG, imagine what I do with my own original fics...which is where I've been hiding lately, buried under a mountain of voracious little plot-bunnies, hence the lateness of my response...~Lotm
