I can understand his guilt on a emotional level, but I'm glad he got his wife's 'blessing' so he won't eat himself alive with guilt.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Would be very typical for him to go into brooding mode, won't it?/M
Another tear-filled chapter. Eydis seems to understand how much her father loved her mother and how much he misses her with this trip.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
And I thought I was up early ... or is it "late" wherever you are?Eydis and Severus have a special bond, and teh little one understands her father better than he himself does at times.Glad you liked the chapter. Hankie? ;-)Cheers. /M
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Thankie, I always need a hankie from you! It's actually late here...Wyoming. I'm headed to bed as it's close to midnight. G'night!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Wyoming? Let's google ....
The album is a very clever tool you have invented. I won't say more incase it ruins anyone else's enjoyment, but the more I think about it, the more clever it is. Good work.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Told you I was brilliant LOL
This is so amazing. I love this story. I don't know what else to say!! =] You're truly wonderful, my dear!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Now I don't know what to say!
I think it's good that Severus keeps his wife's memory alive for his daughter. Later in life she will feel good about it.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
I hope so, too. Question is: how healthy is it for Severus?Glad you liked the chapter. More is on the way.Cheers. /M
Sigh...is it time for Hermione to sweep him off his feet and take away all of his sorrow yet?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hermione!! Oh PLEASE!! Ain't gonna happen!! No, no, no, noooo!!But I have someone else in mind!Cheers. /M
Ya know, I thought that all my crying was done with this story... Silly me. That letter was beautiful. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Sorryyyy!!How many hankies have I offered you by now? ;-)So glad you're sticking with me and my stories.Thank you!/M
I think the present from Cassandra to Eydis is great, but personally I like the kitten better for the chapter. While the album/journal probably will be more important in the long run, I like the idea of the kitten. That's just me though....
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Yes, the album will be quite important. But I have to agree with you: the kitten is very sweet!
Feed the kitten to a snake... I laughed for a full minute. No one else in the book shop will make eye contact with me now - Thanks for that!! LOL Wonderful. And what a sweet idea. An album with content for all ages! =]
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
A whole minute? 60 seconds? Wow! ;-)
Sweet chapter. I loved the book from her mother.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Glad you did.Cheers. /M
Oh blast, must I start crying with every single chapter of this now?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hehe, what was it this time, dear
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
?
Response from Muggline (Reviewer)
I was just thinking how my sister would have loved to create such a thing for her son. But she had to stick to things his seven year old self could process at the time...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Having to leave a child behind must be horrible.
Lovely stuff! You know I don't need to tell you how much I loved this chapter; with 'Softie Sev' to the forefront! :-)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
We all love Softie Snape! :-)
Poor Severus, I hope he believes Ginny about his daughter. My son tells me he hates me when I tell him to do something he doesn't want to do. I think it's pretty common in kids.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Kids are mean creatures ;-)Glad you liked the chapter./M
I was in tears at the end of the story, but when when I read your author's note, my heart broke. I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. Best to you and that little boy.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
The little boy is doing fine. He's not that little anymore, actually. He's surrounded by people who love him dearly, and although he misses his Mummy a lot, he knows that he'll never be alone. Thanks for leaving a note,
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
. It means a lot!/M
Oh, these things are always sad, although they happen all around the world on a daily basis. My sister died from cancer when her son was only seven years old. He insisted on organising the funeral together with his dad and got the funeral staff floored when he entered their shop, declaring "I need your most beautiful coffin and shroud for my mom!"
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
We are so protective of our little ones, but sometimes they seem to handle death better than we grown-ups do.Thanks for leaving a note,
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)

This chapter shows just how tender and loveing Severus Snape can be. And the ring that Cassandra gave him for Christmas was indeed a marvelous gift.Well done!Beth
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Yes, I think that he can be very loving. It just takes a while for him to open up and let his positive feelings come out.Glad you liked this.Cheers. /M
So sad and lovely. That is the way a friend of mine passed away, in the arms of the man she loved. That's how I'd hope to go. The worst would be knowing you won't be there for your child. I had to go and hug my girls when I read this. Rearlly lovely!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
I am very glad that you liked this chapter. It was quite hard to write.Hope you have a lovely day./M
Ok- that made me cry like crazy. It is so sad to see Severus have to go through more heart break.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hankie? *offers*I promise, it will get better for Severus form now on.Cheers. /M
Why must you make me cry so bitterly? Knowing it was coming didn't help in the least. I'm sure I won't have a dry eye for the rest of this story. You... you... evil author!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Naw, sorry! Hankie? *offers*It's quite nice to be called evil on Monday morning. Kinda sets the standards for the rest of the week. Muahaha!Cheers. /M
One box og kleenex later... Woaw... what a beautiful, moving, happy and sad story all at once. It had me in tears or on the verge of tear constantly from chapter 8 and till the end. No kleenex needed for the final chapter though. Even though it was sad, you instantly get the feeling that Severus is going home and that Eydis won't dwell on her father's death when her birthday comes around, but remember all the good times the two of them share. Severus always seems to become a good father, in the stories, where he gets the chance to experience it. And he certainly did a wonderful job in this story! ♥♥♥♥♥
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Remind me to re-emburse you for the kleenex one day ;-)
Oh my, I know it happens to people all over the world on a daily basis, but it must be incredibly hard to know that you are dying and can't do anything about it...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Yes, I imagine it is. And it must be even harder if you are leaving a family behind./M
It's a good thing the Potters are there for the Snapes, as Severus will need their support more and more, even if he begrudges it.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Is it only me, or do you, too, see him hiding in the dungeons pretty soon?
So sad. Will Severus ever have a day in the sun?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
There are good days, and there are bad days, just like in real life. And I have to admit: I am an evil woman. I like Severus sad. Geesh I am so mean!! Sorryyyy, Severus!!
This is wonderful story, sad, but wonderful.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Thank you very much. I am very happy you like it.Cheers. /M
Terribly sad and completely beautiful. So sad. The worst would be missing out on your child's future. Lovely and tragic.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
I don't even have children. But I, too, think that having to leave your child behind must be the worst thing that can happen to a mother.Thank you for reading and leaving a note. It's much appreciated./M
