Snape would so want procedures to be adhered to properly. And I would like to call HIM daddy! LOL
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hm, I know you'd like to call him daddy. In a veeeery innocent way, right? *snort*
Such Snape responses: over my dead body to be sorted into Gryffindor, feeling that a hug can go too long, especially with a Potter, and the smile when she gets into Slytherin. However, I love the last line that Snape didn't think her Slytherin characteristics might not cause trouble. A bit of foreshadowing perhaps? ;-)Looking forward to the next chapter. =)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Oh, Severus knows his Slytherins. And he certainly knows the Malfoys.Glad you liked the chapter. Putting up the next one ... now!Cheers. /M
Oh, I bet Severus is proud! It's funny how he wants to curse potential boyfriends too. All in all, a very good chapter, well written with bits of humor.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Thank you very much.I thought we all (Severus, readers, author) had earned some funny parts. Don't get used to it ;-)Have a nice weekend. /M
I'm sure that won't be the only bout of "I want Mummy," that Severus will hear. Hopefully, he'll remember Ginny's wise words and not take it too personally. I'm sure it's much harder for him to brush those feelings away given the fact that Eydis will never see her mum again, even though she wants to.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
He is indeed taking it hard. Not only is he alone, but he is still struggling with his old fears about turning into his father. Having Eydis look at him in fear and run away from him was a big chock.Glad you're still sticking with me and the story.Have a very nice weekend./M
I can really see Severus being like this; he would most definitely be over protective in this way to compensate for losing Cassandra and who could blame him? (BTW: I love the thought of Eydis making her peas disappear onto someone else's plate; both my boys would have loved to have been able to do when they were younger!)The way both Severus and Eydis are missing Cassandra is so true to how it really would be in this situation. You have created a very human, moving story about the reality of grief (not something everyone can/is prepared to do) & I really admire you for it. Well done - I'll keep reading of course :-)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
I hated peas when I was little! Ew, ew, icky! Nowadays, I eat just about everything.I am very glad you liked the chapter,
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
. Means a lot!Cheers. /M
Well, a lesson all parents have to learn some day: if you try to be perfect, all you get is frustration. Just relax...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
You liked this chapter a lot, didn't you? ;-)
Response from Muggline (Reviewer)
Oh dear, did I forget to mention THAT? Sorry...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Feed my ego. Feed it! Oh my, spent way too much time at Malfoy manor lately, They're rubbing off. LOL
Well, a lesson all parents have to learn some day: if you try to be perfect, all you get is frustration. Just relax...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Yup.I still remember my best friend's face when his 3-year old told him: 'Daddy, I hate you.'Poor man was depressed for several days! Thanks for the shinies!/M
I"m an emotional wreck!! That was so lovely. It's just precious to imagine the little darling doing magic! Really nice touch.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Emotional wreck? Um, hope that's good ;-)I'm very glad you're sill enjoying this.Cheers. /M
You've captured exactly how I feel when I cause my little cousins to cry by accident if they've really screwed up while I'm watching them...guess it's worse for those who are parents. But true to kid form, everything is forgiven shortly. Severus is making it through as well as can be expected from a single dad who's never really liked kids.I miss Cassandra, but I like your story.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
I know what you mean. One of my cousins once hit his head while we were playing and his eyebrow literally exploded. Oh, I felt soooo bad! Even if it wasn't my fault.I miss Cassandra, too :-( I know, I was the one who killed her off, but still.Cheers./M
It's always nice to have the support of your friends at such a sad time. It's nice to see that he found a reason to go on in Eydis.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
It would have been too easy for him to have a 'Lily-moment': go hide in the dungeon, brood, ... you name it. But this time, he has a reason to go on fighting.Glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for sticking with me./M
It's always so sad to bury such young people, especially if their children are still small... (my sister was 34 when she died, her son 7).
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Yes, it is terribly sad. And it makes me wonder what kind of sadist is running the universe.
Nawww. He will not admit it, but he needs Ginny and the Potters. It's lovely they can be there for him.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Stubborn man *shakes head*Thanks for the shinies, star sister!
I am happy to see that Severus is holding things together, but his life has been so unhappy. He only had five years of happiness now at best his life will be bitter-sweet.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hm, I like bitter-sweet. And I promise that I am done being mean to him ... in this story, anyway. Thanks for leaving a note,
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
. It means a lot to me.Cheers. /M

I have a challenge for you if you choose to accept it. I would like you to do a story that has a purely happy ending for Severus. Any ship, any trials and tribulations are up to you but I'd like to see a happy ending. Just for giggles.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hm, quite the challenge, indeed. I'll think about it. Got to call the muse.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Challenge accepted. Story outline has been scribbled down. Now I just need the time to write it.
Response from sinbad (Reviewer)
I've decided to bookmark you as a favorite author so I can look for this story. I am eagerly awaiting your efforts.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Oh, the pressure ...
No matter how many times I read this it still saddens me, as you know. But I love the fact that he can still feel Cassandra's 'presence' and take comfort in that, as so many people do after the loss of a loved one :-)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Cassandra promised him to be there. She will hold her promise. Thanks for leaving a note,
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
. Much appreciated, as always./M
Poor, poor man. I know things will eventually get better, but my heart just goes out to him.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
He sure needs a hug.Glad you liked the chapter.Cheers. /M
How sad, can we jump a few years ahead at some point for a somewhat happy ending?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Be patient ;-)
You know I struggled to leave you a review for this the other day (& therefore didn't in the end!) Well, I just couldn't let it go by without doing so as, once again, you have moved me no end. :-(It really was such a touching, sad chapter but I know you've promised me that things will get better for poor Severus (and Eydis) and of course I have no reason not to trust you (have I?!!) :-)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Dearest
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
,this is a tough chapter, I know. And I am glad you left a note in the end.Severus needs time to grieve, but yes, there are sunny days ahead. I promise./MPS: Have you never watched The X-Files? 'Trust no one,' Mulder always said ;-)
Oh dear, it doesn't get easier with the repetition, you know...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Naw, sorry. Tissue? *offers box*/M
So beautiful. I cannot stop crying. Thank God I left the cafe before I read this one, what a scene. Lovely, dear. So touching. I hope Eyedis will know how wonderful and special her mother was.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Oh dear. Tissue?Eydis has a wonderful father who loved her mother very much. Once he is done mourning, he will make sure that Eydis does not forget her mother.Thank you so much for leaving a note./M
Response from rhiannon113 (Reviewer)
*takes tissue* Thanks. I'll calm down, I promise!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
You're not still crying, are you? Starting to feel bad here
Response from rhiannon113 (Reviewer)
I'm emotional by nature. Many things make me cry, but your story is so beautiful and it's drawn me in (right, that's obvious isn't it? sorry). Also, I've got three little girls, the two youngest are two and four. I can't imagine handling my last good-bye with them. My hubby is a wonderful father, but I would want to be the one with them. truthfully, since your Christmas bit, I've teared up anytime I've seen the title in the list for 'Newly Submitted'. Don't feel bad, darling!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Na, not feeling bad. Rather honoured for having provoked such emotions in you, actually.
You've killed this poor woman off three times now and I've bawled like a baby all three times. Death is such a release to people who are sick and in pain like Cassandra was. It's those who are left behind who have to deal with the grief and pain of the loss. Poor Severus and Eydis. I hope they find comfort in each other.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Hankie? *offers*Severus will help Eydis, and Eydis will help him. We know our dear Potions master: he won't run around and tell people how much he's hurting. They'll have to find out on their own.Have a lovely weekend./M
What a sad, yet tastefully done chapter. You had a very difficult subject matter and handled it well.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Thank you very much. I am glad you liked it.Have a nice weekend./M
Good for him. The only way to chase away ghosts is to face them head on.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Exactly. Funny enough, he once told Cassandra that she cannot run from her past. And look what he's trying to do ...Glad you like the chapter.Cheers. /M
Slowly but surely Severus is sorting out his feelings left over from his childhood... and tomorrow they will visit the Potters. It will be good for Eydis to have friendships and playmates, and this will be a sure way for Severus to deal with the ghosts from his past. Hope there aren't too many bumps in the road for him and Cassandra.Good chapter!Beth
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Severus need the Potters just as much as Eydis does. He just doesn't know it yet.Not too many bumps ahead? Ehm, Beth, you have read The Way Home, haven't you? You know that I am a horrible person. Thanks for the shinies./M
‘But before you can stop hurting those around you, you will have to stop hurting yourself.’Cassandra knows her husband better than he knows himself! Wonderful chapter!Beth
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
Oh he does know it himself. He is just too stubborn to admit it and needs to be told.Cheers. /M
Awwwww... Severus' reaction was so Snape! You portrayed him perfectly as a first time father, and I melted when he looked at his daughter the first time and knew he would love and protect her always.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of A Gift of the Goddess)
He is a softie at heart :-)Cheers. /M
