The war and subsequent clean-up has ended, and the wizarding world is beginning to come out of its shell. Having had enough of Hermione and Severus's bookworm, introverted ways, Molly and Minerva give well-intentioned Christmas gifts aiming to push our heroes out of their comfort zones and into the arms of a well-read, like-minded witch or wizard. Will our heroes ally to survive with their wits intact? Will they overcome their personal demons? Will they find love within the pages of the detested novel?

Shenanigans are clearly called for!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Oh, and shenanigans there will be. :)
Oh i would have struggled not to reveal his true "research" for his books... but then I don't have Severus by my side ;pI hope Hermione is planning on sneaking into his rooms at Hogwarts!!!And I look forward to the next chapter!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I'm quite certain Hermione won't be able to last an entire month. :)
I was surprised to meet the author; you really got me there! This is one of my favourite tales!
I love that Richmond Greenleaf is so interested in ideas for more products that would make money for him. galleons sparkling in his eyesYou are so brilliant."And now we perhaps know where St Mungo's ships graduates from the Janus Thickey Ward," Severus murmured as Hermione made a note to have her parents sell their summer cottage.Thank you for writing this! I am sorry to hear it is nearing its end.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*blushes* aw, shucks. Thanks!
I was so happy to see an update! I have really been enjoying this story. What a laugh that the author turns out to be Lockheart! I think you did him perfectly. Great job on the entire chapter!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so very much! Lockhart was quite easy to write... makes me a bit paranoid. :)

Brilliant chapter! I'm so glad the book club thingy is over for the both of them. A ban to F&B would have been bad, true, but I suppose if necessary, it would have been a rather small price to pay! ;o)
I can't remember whom I suspected being behind the author, but Lockheart is a brilliant idea. I simply hope Severus will let Hermione live it down that she was so to say responsible for his recovery.
Author's Response: I'm not sure which would have caused more teasing for Hermione: a F&B ban or Mr Lockhart. Fortunately, she'll never know!
ha, that was a great chapter!. can't wait to read more

Thanks so much!
Oh, thank heaven they are finally free! And how perfect that Dear Gil turned out to be the execrable author--so glad all concerned were told off so effectively! But in some small, horrible way, they do rather owe even the awful people for getting them together. Now if the demands of teaching will just give him some free time, they can keep up those shenanigans in style! Nicely done!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Bwahaha, 'execrable author'.Indeed, they do begrudgingly owe thanks to Minerva and Molly, gift givers extraordinaire.Glad you enjoyed it! *hugs*
Lovely chapter. I never suspected Lockhart as Greenleaf, but it fits perfectly.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks! I've been terrified the entire time that more people would guess his identity. *whew* It's kinda nice to finally have the cat out of the bag. :)
The intimate talks Hermione and Severus had, amid the fabulous rounds of sex, were so wonderful, and I think they ultimately felt liberated by their new-found knowledge of each other. Well done! When Gilderoy Lockhart was "unmasked" as the author of that dreadful book I just wanted to slap myself in the head... I thought that Nigel Reese sounded like "Gil" but I still had him firmly ensconced in the Janus Thicky Ward. You're a very clever writer!I adore Severus Snape and his snarky questions and replies! He and Hermione make a great couple! How on earth will they survive a month apart? My money is own the two of them thinking of some way for Hermione to come to Hogwarts unbeknown to anyone else in the castle. I know I couldn't stay away for a month! This is a fabulous story, and the thought that it is winding down makes me sad. I love it so much!Beth
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
We shall soon (very soon!) if Hermione succeeds in invading the castle. I'm tickled that Gilderoy was a shock to everyone. Hopefully it wasn't too terribly sneaky of me. :)
Great work and a hilarious chapter. I'm looking forward to the next one!!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much!
Oh, I so needed this today! (I only wish headache potions were real, and came with my own personal Sevvie, but one cannot have everything.) Loved Hermione's bluntness when asking Severus about his last shag - and found the sting of jealousy so realistic (of course, especially when Severus is still working with Sinistra). But the second part was what really made me laugh - I'd not guessed Lockhart, but it certainly fit! And oh the dramatic irony of Hermione's research having been the key that let 'Gil' loose on the poor unsuspecting Wizarding world again!~Kribu
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*passes industrial-strength headache potion*Glad I could brighten your day!*grins* I'm quite tickled that you appreciated Hermione's bluntness. Rather Gryffindorish, I think, to ask the blunt question but not entirely have been prepared for the truth. :)
WOW! Let me see: we have half chapter fairly divided between deep emotions and some of the most droolworthy, er, 'shenanigans' I've ever had the pleasure (PLEASURE!!!) to read. Then, with a seamless transition, the hilarious second halfth. I nearly expected 'Gil' to try and show Severus some new DADA-housecleaning techniques :)))Should I add more? Oh yes please MORE!!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*giant, enormous grin*I'm giddy that you liked all the aspects of the chapter. It was quite a bit to fit in, and I was worried about all of it meshing together. I'm glad I hit the mark. :D
thank you so much for continuing to post thisa tale! Really enjoying your Snape!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
You're quite welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Brilliant update, the introduction of good old "Gil" was just icing on the cake:-))
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!! :)
I never even equated Lockhart with this. Excellent!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*grins*I'm glad the author was a surprise!
This story had me roaring with laughter – and I especially liked how Hermione, in the last chapter (or was it a couple chapters past?), dove right into asking Snape about his, err, romantic past. How, though, did she know it had been years since his last shag? I'm just curious – I suppose it was his quip about being absymal the next time 'round?
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Woot! Made ya roar with laughter!Hermione knew it had been years when he tells her that he took the day off. He says, "Why would I want to spoil the first shag I've had in years with a day of teaching?"
I am giddy with fangirl glee at this newest chapter! How horrfying to discover Lockheart is the author! The idea of merchandising his book makes my skin crawl! A small tear might have eased its way out of my left eye when Hermione tucked away her ring from Ron. Pajama Pants you get to me everytime!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Isn't the merchandising just horrific? And there would be toooons of it, too. *shudder*I, um, probably shouldn't be so pleased that you teared up. Woot!
Oh gosh, it was Lockhart! Aaagh!!! How ironic that Hermione had a crush on him back in her second year, and it seems that Lockhart has now developed something of a crush on her in return. Hee hee hee...These book club meetings have been a real hoot, and I especially enjoyed Matilda's haranguing of Severus and Hermione. "Shenanigans"! I half expected her to use the word "canoodling" at some point, too. Banned from the book clubs, they can now say (although Severus probably could have already) that they've been thrown out of better places than that one! I have enjoyed this story so much, and every chapter makes me laugh. I hate for it to ever end, but I know it must. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
And here I was terrified that everyone would read that initial review you left equating Nigel and 'Gil'. :DA million gold stars for nearly hitting the nail on the head. :)
Oh, gods, I'm still laughing. I don't think I've ever actually fallen out of my seat before reading. XD BTW, I absolutely adore Lockhart's little nickname. I dunno if you play any video games, but the standard money used in Final Fantasy games is the gil. And since Lockhart is such a gilded-in-gold git... =) Well, I thought it was a funny coincidence.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*facepalm*I caaaan't believe I didn't think of the FF connection. Clearly it's been too long since I've replaying FF8. :DGlad it made you fall out of your chair. :)
Oh no, how will they spend any time together? I have every bit of faith that you've got it covered. The reader questions were fantastic :D
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Perhaps they'll start going to rummage sales on weekends. :)
What? No jolly threesome with old Gil? I'm so disappointed, peej! :P
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*snort*Perhaps in Severus's nightmares. :P
Ooooh, excellent author reveal! I never went to Lockhart, assuming he was safely locked up. Poor Hermione, hoist with her own petard, so to speak. She researched those memory charms for the good of wizardkind and accidentally gave them back the bane of her existence in Lockhart. Well, now that they've been banned from any more book clubs, things are looking up for the future! Personally, I'd be looking into lifetime book club subscriptions for Molly and Minerva. The gift that keeps on giving! This was a delightful chapter, yet tinged with a bit of sadness that things are winding down. It's been a marvelous ride!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much! I'm quite pleased that Lockhart was a surprise. I was utterly paranoid when I posted the excerpt way back in chapter 2 that everyone would figure it out. As if Hermione hadn't suffered enough from the Memory Charms, now this, eh? :DAlas, it is winding down. I daresay the last two chapters will make it all worthwhile though. :)
I love your irony that the source of the twaddle that tormented her was freed from his mental incapacitation indirectly by her. If she hadn't written her findings she would have been compelled to read a different (and hopefully less loathsome) book.It just goes to show that you don't always know who you help. And in this case, that turned out to be a bad thing. Very funny.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much. I must admit that the irony was a bit fortuitous. I'd determined that Lockhart would be the author very early in the story. Things just fell into place when I realized that Hermione surely had to work hard to reverse those blasted charms. :)Glad you enjoyed the irony. Thanks so much for reviewing!!!!!
Your story is the bright spot of a cold and damp Sunday.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Awesome!Glad I could brighten your day!
