The war and subsequent clean-up has ended, and the wizarding world is beginning to come out of its shell. Having had enough of Hermione and Severus's bookworm, introverted ways, Molly and Minerva give well-intentioned Christmas gifts aiming to push our heroes out of their comfort zones and into the arms of a well-read, like-minded witch or wizard. Will our heroes ally to survive with their wits intact? Will they overcome their personal demons? Will they find love within the pages of the detested novel?

Great chapter!!! A wonderful end to a wonderful story!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you so very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm so happy that Severus and Hermione are finally happy together! It was such a pleasant surprise to come upon the conclusion of this story. I've enjoyed it so much. Thanks!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you! I know the conclusion was a long time coming, but hopefully it was worth the wait! And thanks your letting me know how much you liked it!
What a great chapter! Absolutely loved the shed scene and it's aftermath. I was torn between rolling with laughter, and feeling completely humiliated on their behalf. So glad that the Weasley clan are happy for her. So nice that he worked things out so he can spend lots of time with her. Luckily as a teacher, he won't have to write a "how I spent my summer vacation" essay...although I might like to read that particular paper ;)
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*giggles* THAT is an excellent plot bunny.
Well, that went over well. I was a little worried that one or the other was going to wreck things but I guess this was just meant to be. Another nice chapter!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I can only imagine Hermione's rage had the plan backfired. She'd waited a long and admirable time. :)
What a wonderful ending!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

This is a fun story! I'm glad Severus is finally finding reason to laugh and smile and be playful!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you! I agree that it's good to see a Severus who can relax a bit.
Oh Ugh, Gilderoy Lockhart, I should have guessed he'd write something AWFUL. Blech. Looking forward to shenanigans, though!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Gilderoy is truly heinous, but a heck of a lot of fun to write. :)
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
heinous is a great word to describe lockhart!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*grins* Thanks!
Oh my! That was fun. I'll be sad when the story is over, I'm afraid!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Awww. Thank you so much!
ROFL. Crotchlumency!!! Wonderful chapter. I'm glad they opened up some criticism on the book. It's fun to read about them waiting to start the physical side of their relationship. Ohh the torture. LOL.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*grins* Thank you! Crotchlumency is one of my favorite things out of this whole story. It crops up a lot in fan fiction!
Hah! This was great. Seems like it would make so much sense for Severus to just SAY what the hell is going on, but then I have extreme Gryffindor tendencies despite my fondness for certain Slytherins. This is such a fun story! Lots of the serious stuff from DH is in here, but it's fun and funny. I love reading about Severus having to deal with all the emotions that are suddenly overwhelming him.EXCELLENT!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you so very much! I tried really hard to balance the humor with the conflict and seriousness in the story. Glad to hear I hit the mark!
I'll be damned if Severus isn't the poster child for men everywhere. He has the communication skills of a rock... but don't they all really. So glad things worked out well in the end. He has some serious self control to walk away from such an invite. I'm counting on him making it up to her ;)
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*giggle*He has the communication skills of a rock... but don't they all really. I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not so sure it's so much self-control as terror at the thought of REAL intimacy.
Oooooh, Ginny's a real piece of work! She is lucky Hermione let her back into her flat. Can't wait to see what they do to stir up book club!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Ginny was really fun to write... I ought to have included her more often. Ah, well.
I love that Molly's "gift" forces her to leave the Weasley gathering against Molly's wishes. As much as I enjoy a good "jump right to the NC-17 rating story", these ones where their relationship grows slowly and realistically are so nice to read. Makes me all warm and fuzzy. I think your profile said that you live in the midwest. I do as well so if you are having the same yucky weather as we are, you need all of the warm fuzzies you can get!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Awww. Thank you very much! I think there's enough smut in the later chapters to compensate for the slow build-up. :) Did you succeed in signing up for an LJ account? When you do, drop my LJ at pyjamapants.livejournal.com, leave me a comment on my friending post, and I'll add you to my friend list.
Poor guy *hands him some breakable things to throw around the room* That will make him feel better :) You know something is bad when you will voluntarily vomit to get out of it. How will they ever make it through!? On to the next dhapter...
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
LOL! Yes, willingness to vomit is certainly a marker of something horrible.
awww, how sweet. Excellent story. I'm so enjoying this!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you so very much!
Poor Severus. I always get so angry just thinking of it. He never had ANYONE. Lily was his friend until he really REALLY needed her. Grrr. Love the story. Really. And I'm so glad it's not a WIP. LOL.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*whistles innocently* Me? WIP? *whistles again and hides dates on last few chapters* Severus was treated rather unfairly in canon. Although, I do enjoy the occasional story (usually a Snarry, I find) that writes Snape's memories to Harry as a complete fabrication by Snape. Quite the treat.
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
LOL. Have I spoken too soon? I don't really mind WIPs so much now I've figured out the update bookmarks and reminders for updates. DOH, that took years.I haven't read any Snarry. I really should. I'm not offended by slash or anything. I tend to prefer het but sometimes the slash stories are fun. I think it might be nice to read something in which the memories are a fabrication because I get so pissed off at Lily. She might have been able to keep Snape from making bad decisions if she'd remained his friend despite his use of the word mudblood. I thought it was a bit petty of her not to forgive that. Anyway, I do have a terrible fondness for Snape and a ridiculous desire to protect him despite the fact that he's a fictional character. I'm quite silly, I'm sure. LOL.Mim

Are you on livejournal? The crack_broom community has a nice set of recs for lots of different ships (and a big pile of Snarrys). I'll keep an eye out for that plot line next time I go on a binge. :)
I thought it was pretty amusing. Loved it, actually. Well-done.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Excellent! Thanks so very much for leaving a review to say so!!!
awww.... i'm a little weepy. LOVED IT
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you!!!!! Such a lovely review!
ROFL. I love it. The horrible book, the horrible coos over the book and Snape a giggling drunk. You just don't get funnier than this.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*HUGE GRINS* Thank you so very much! I had so much fun writing the horrible book, but I picked up that section of text a couple months ago and was absolutely disgusted and horrified by it! Ewwwww! Thanks for the lovely review. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!
Hey, PJ! Omg. So, I just read this chapter and it was awesome. I especially loved "Harder, Faster, Make me a potion!" Awesome stuff. You totally rock my sox. I can't say I was shocked by the revalation that Gil wrote WoG. Only because Nigel's pompusness screamed Lockhart. This was such a great chapter. And I can't wait to read the conclusion of this wonderful fic!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
*Big goofy grin* I don't believe I've ever rocked anyone's socks before. :) Nigel's pompousness is truly awful. I reread that chapter in August... and was like 'OMG, I wrote this shit? It's AWFUL.' *hugs*

Lovely and very fitting epilogue! So glad you managed to overcome that writer's block! ;o)
I'm glad for the two of them that they realized soon enough what they would have let happened with a Molly-Minerva-planned wedding. The Heligan Gardens is a gorgeous spot for their endeavor, brilliant idea! I'm rather envious - though I had quite the romantic spot for my own wedding. chapel of a medieval castle (though the chapel was built outside and in the 17th century and had truly uncomfortable benches).
(By the way, the link for Heligan didn't work for me like this, I had to delete the "flash_index.htm". )
Author's Response: Thank you so very much for all of your lovely reviews throughout the story. Heligan seemed like the perfect spot, although there were several suggestions from Persevero that were equally gorgeous.
Thanks for the head's up on the URL!
An absolutely perfect cap to a delightful piece! Delicious, delightful--and it so serves Molly right to be thwarted in her ambition to produce The Wedding to End All Weddings. Their solution is so much more wonderful that perhaps they'll come to realize (in 40 or 50 years) that she actually did them a favor. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!

Thanks so very much. And thanks for all your help along the way making the story something to be proud of.

it was a pleasure. i really could not have asked for a better first beta gig.
Ron's demise is very original. I really have a soft spot for Ron so don't usually like him as a lying, cheating bad guy. I do however like him out of the way in fanfics to make room for bigger and better things. So glad the date prebook club outing went well...they'll be together much sooner than the evil matchmakers ever suspected.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Original... if a bit gruesome. I think you'll really like my treatment of Ron in upcoming chapters. Out of the way... not really a compatible mate... but not an idiot.
