Reviews for Just a Little Bit
Oooh, Severus has such rotten (or excellent) timing. A bit jealous and protective, are we, now, Severus? Love it!

That was a wicked bit of intererence, wasn't it? Glad you're enjoying the story!

Talk about getting caught with your pants down! Well, not really, but it was close. I think your description of Sirius was interesting, I wonder what's happening in Severus's head about now though...
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
I'm not sure Hermione wants to know what Severus is thinking, though I expect she'll find out eventually.

Hmm, too men interested in her, all alone in the house with them, wherever could that lead?

As my mama used to say: nowhere good - and fast. Of course, we have slightly different opinions of what constitutes "good."

I can't believe I typed too, instead of two *facepalm*

Oh my. Sounds like things are about to get a lot less boring around the house!
I do like the addition of a mouse to the house. I hope that Crookshanks comes to an understanding with him (her?). :)
Looking forward to more!
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Thanks! I'm rather fond of the mouse. More is on the way.

“Remember to feed the dog.” Sirius seems to have been caught somewhere between his human and animagus forms when he was brought back through the veil. And what could Hermione be working on? Is it something to do with helping Sirius?I smiled at the lie Severus told himself to rationalize his attraction to Hermione... having been denied his "usual "outlets." He's got the hots for her, but I don't think it's because of a lack of his "usual outlets"... I think he likes her in particular...I'm looking forward to following your story. It's going to be quite a ride.Beth

Thank you for coming along. I'll see if I can keep to the scenic route. ;) As for Sirius, there's more than one way to change form. And for once, Hermione is working on something simply because it intrigues her - though it may prove useful in the end.

I wonder what's up with Sirius---he sounds really scary, appearance wise; I'm imagining all sorts of gruesome things. And the poor mouse! I feel bad for Hermione feeling so alone... maybe Severus will raise her spirits? LOL!
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Sirius has always been scary, though usually not in the way people think. As for Severus, he's more likely to raise hell than her spirits - at least intentionally. But change is the only constant, so who knows?

interesting start, wonder what is going on with Sirius?

Hmm now this is an interesting twist. Is Sirius stuck between his two forms? And how long will it take Hermione to notice the tandra Snape carries?
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Very good questions. :) Hermione is observant, but Snape is good at hiding what he doesn't wish seen. There's a physics correlation there, something about an irresistable force... And Sirius' form does come into play.

Poor mouse! I really liked your descriptions and the tone you set.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Poor mouse, indeed. It will take quite a bit to survive, but mice can be clever creatures, too. Thank you for your kind words.

i was excited to see a story by you on this side of the page. i'm looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble you cook up for these characters. ; )
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
An entire feat of trouble, I assure you. :)

That should read "an entire HEAP of trouble..." Serves me right for responding at 2 a.m.

Intriguing beginning. Great development of Hermione's loneliness, especially without making her a melodramatic waif angsting along grim moors. I've actually had that relationship with a squirrel my dog wanted, so I relate to Hermione and her mouse. And I am right there with Snape: what is that girl up to?I look forward to more.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Thanks! Hermione never struck me as the wafting waif sort. She's a bit too logicall and driven for that. Funny how those are the qualities that lead her into trouble.

Amazing. I hope that there's more to come! Your scene where he jumped at the sound of her voice in the empty house really touched me -- how quick he was to run to her aid. I really like the picture that that particular scene painted.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. There will be more coming. Poor Snape, striving so hard for denial he can't really embrace. It's one of the things that makes him delightful to write.

This is pretty fabulous. I clicked on this story because I thought the summary was really great, but the story definitely lives up to it. Great tension and very nice flow. I'd be a little bit careful with the Muggle clothes clichés, but all in all, it's really good. Looking forward to more of this.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Thank you! There is more in the pipeline. There must be a way to describe a young woman's clothing seen through the eyes of a man without it seeming cliche, but it does present a problem. When attracted, people tend to notice and think about certain things. I doubt noticing those aspects in a school uniform would come off as less cliche, considering the virulent fantasies about such things. I suppose the same is true for blousy white shirts or Snape's black cloak. It's all sort of iconic, isn't it?

I cannot decide if I like this or if it makes no sense yet. It's all a bit of information to take in, in so few chapters yet.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
It is a bit convoluted, especially at the beginning. I hope it becomes more clear and that you find it enjoyable.

this is the end? wow what a convolutes story right up to the end. thanks so much
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Sadly, this is the end. Well, it's AN end. I would imagine the story could go on, one way or another. I just don't know that I will be the one to write it. :) I have more original novels to work on, at least until another plot bunny (or mouse) nips at my heels.

I really enjoyed the conversation between Severus and Sirius. I wonder if Severus would really be excited at the prospect of killing Sirius?
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Thanks! I think Severus would like to believe he would enjoy it, but Sirius is probably right. Having an enemy you know that well, for that long, is almost like having a really good friend. I think he would miss the back and forth. I just don't think he could ever admit that, even to himself.

Nice word play between Sirius and Severus. You've done a magnificent job pulling the loose ends together. See I told you she could lie.Great update.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Thank you. She can lie pretty well now, though I don't know how comfortable she is with it. I'm glad you enjoyed the men's final conversation.

I'm amazed, or in shock. I finished reading this chapter this morning and did not realize it was the final chapter until I saw a notice on a different website many hours later. So, I've come to the conclusion that this is just one story I am never going to get. [In reference to my review @ Ch. 11] I thought if I kept reading it, that it would gel and I'd figure out what was going on, but obviously that's not going to happen.I never did make any sense out of why Sirius was back, what he was doing in the back yard, why Hermione was having sex with both SB and SS, what the symbol/spell thing was about, or figured out what the point of everything was. Then totally missed the fact that whatever it was, it had actually ended just when I thought the story was starting to pick up. I certainly didn't get the 'gift mouse' with the former mousehole gone.I leave you, in confusion.
Response from Melenka (Author of Just a Little Bit)
Sirius explains why he was sent back, in the chapter you just read. Sirius was gardening in the backyard, because he thought it needed to be fixed up and he wanted to leave something nice behind. Also, he needed an outlet for his magic. Why did Hermione have sex with both of them? Because she likes them, has trusted them for years, finds them hot and they offered. That was generally enough for me when I was younger. The spell changed the intent of magic at the moment it was done. In this case, it changed the signature of Sirius' magic so the Ministry can't find him. He changed Hermione's magic, so that Severus CAN find him. That was pretty much it. Sirius gave her the mouse as a keepsake. Severus got rid of the mouse hole (knowing the mouse had another way out) so that Crookshanks would be foiled in his attempt to eat the mouse.I'm not sure what wasn't there to get...

is this really the end? bittersweet, I'm longing for more, but good.

Oh, wow. Guh!! The entire ending conversation between Sirius and Severus... Just wow! Amazing how close the lines of hate and love can be. And that last line, "Only myself,"... Damn - that was absolutely perfect. I adore the final line of the story - the bit about hope. Thank you for leaving us with some different possibilities: I know I'll enjoy thinking of what's happening with Sirius and Severus while the events of DH are playing out (at least until the dreadful demise of Snape) and even then you've given our imaginations some wiggle room. Well done!! I just love how you captured all the wonderful facets of Sirius - the recklessness, the intelligence, the wit. His trip through the veil didn't diminish the baser elements of his personality, but seems to have added a wonderful depth of cognisance and understanding. This is absolutely the best Sirius I've read - far better than canon and beats the pants off of anything else in fandom. And of course your Snape and Hermione were perfect characterizations, too. It's rare to find a story where ALL the characters are so spot-on, but you've really managed it. Even your Ginny - poking through the older girl's makeup bag - is a brilliant glimpse and snapshot of a teenager. (As well as her love of the tat!) Anyhoodles, I could go on and ON, but I'd better leave something to chat about with you via IM!! Excellent, fabulous, wonderful, brilliant, and other happy adjectives as well! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this tale with us!

You are quite welcome! And thank you for your enthusiasm throughout the process. I am glad that you enjoyed the roller coaster ride, both published and in angst-ridden IMs. ;) I had a lot of fun reimagining Sirius. I think he gets short shrift quite often. And writing Snape is just plain fun. Such eloquent snark. Now that you're done reading this, you can post your own story faster so I have something to read! LOL
