Reviews for Soul Man
Damn but this girl has balls! Recreate a solution that Snape invented, but without any instructions except what the active ingredient was?? And if it's a solution that persuades a Horcrux receptical to divest itself of it's contents, why the heck did Snape drink it to test it?
I'm starting to guess where this might be going. VERY interesting, very complicated little story. Your essay regarding the creation of Horcruxes is brilliant. It seems obvious once you explain it, but I'd have never got there myself....Thank you.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Is that what the solution does? Hmm.Thanks for your remark about the Horcrux creation - I'm so glad you found it authentic! I wondered whether people would feel that it fit in with all that JKR has said about them. :-D
Response from Javoher (Reviewer)
I thought your chapter said the solution causes a recepticle to divest itself of the Horcrux..? I'll go re-read it.

This is absolutely thrilling. Of course, I have more curiosity now than I did last chapter, and am both tortured and elated by it! The sex scene was incredible, and the suspense—well, you are the mistress of that. Wonderful update!
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Thank you so much! :-D I'm so pleased. I'm also trying not to keep people in too much suspense, so I've put the next chapter into the queue already. I don't promise, though, that it will satisfy your curiosity...

Oh my god, I think I love you for your empirical research on Horcruxes and the soul. One thing; if the Dementors suck/eat/destroy the soul fo someone they Kiss, then the body still walks about.Fascinating stuff, dark magic, isn't it. ;)
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Thanks! :)I'm not sure we really know from canon what happens when the Dementor sucks out someone's soul. The only image we see of it is the portrait on the classroom wall when Snape becomes Defence professor in HBP - and that person is 'a wizard lying huddled and blank-eyed, slumped against a wall.' Why would the body still walk about? Movement is associated with purpose, and I reckon that without a soul, a person has very little purpose or motivation.Great food for thought! :-D
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
Yeah, you really probably *don't* wanna come visit my sick thoughts on Dark Magic. It's the stuff of nightmares!

So beautifully crafted, as always! What mystery is waiting to be discovered about Mark, I wonder. So much trust passed between him and Snape. Is the boy what he seems?Thank goodness the journal brought our Severus home (well, his soul anyway)...lovely reunion. Though I admit that I was hoping for some new revelations to be exchanged.I love it when all of Hermione's synapses are firing...and the solution may not be clear, but it is in reach.Brilliant storytelling - thank you so much!!
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Thank YOU - what a lovely review! You are asking interesting questions about Mark (none of which I can answer at the moment, unfortunately) and I'm glad that you're pleased to see Severus again. :-D

The reading of Snape's journal made me want to cry. Poor Severus. But this new potion... now I'm wondering where this is going to end and how!
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Aw... poor Severus indeed. Never fear, though - we're still a ways from the end! Several more chapters to go. :) Thanks for your review!

Glad Mark is back. You're doing such a good job creating suspense. I have no idea where all of this is going, but I'm excited to read more.

‘In your current state, that is permitted.’ So he thinks that when she comes to her senses she'll issue a retraction??She sure has nice dreams. I'd love having help like that!I like the idea that he would look for a way to keep Harry alive while destroying the piece of Riddle within him. Intriguing that such an approach doesn't seem to have occured to Dumbledore, but then Severus always had a subtler mind (devious and subtle being two distinct qualities).
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Perhaps Dumbledore was simply too accustomed to having to sacrifice the main players. He probably formulated all of his plans such that nobody was irreplacable. Snape, I feel, wouldn't have seen things that way. Thank you so much for your review! :)

Great chapter! One thought: You konw, I always thought (at least since DH) that Snape knew Sirius was the secret-keeper and betrayer, which was why he was so gleeful to see Sirius punished in PoA. During that book we're supposed to think it's because he wants a medal, and in later books that it was just related to the hatred Snape had for Sirius due to the Marauder pranks (specifically the werewolf attack). But after DH I think it's because Snape genuinely thought at the time that Sirius was the betrayer of the Potters and didn't find out until later about Pettigrew. Like, without Sirius Lily would still be alive. That's just my thought, though. :)
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Yeah, it always seemed suspicious to me that Pettigrew managed to get in touch with Voldemort in 1981 without Snape knowing about it. The entire situation has never made sense to me, so I gave Snape my own confusion. :) Thanks for the review!

Gah, a twist! She may not remember in the morning though... hopefully he left her a reminder.

I stayed up until 4 am this morning to read this story straight through from the beginning, and even though I'm cross-eyed I'm not a bit sorry. You have completely roped me in, and I can't wait to hear more. Your characterizatio of both young and old Severus (in Hermione's dreams) is so spot on, and of Hermione as well (although I am a bit dismayed by her seeming to melt into a passion puddle in the arms of every man who approaches her, but then she's obviously transferring from her feelings for Severus, sooo...at least I think she finally sees that). The building suspense is perfect, and you have me very much wondering where you are going next with this. I do hope Severus won't "remain" a ghost? At least, I hope the romance between them goes beyond mere dreams. Do please update again soon, and in the meantime, I'm off to my LJ to praise your story. Like your online name, by the way!
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
4 am? I am crazy flattered. :) Thank you so much for leaving such an excellent and thoughtful review. I can't really comment at this point on whether Hermione and Snape's romance will go beyond dreams, but I hope you will keep reading nevertheless! :-D

Very interesting discussion of souls, forms ( a bit of Aristotle! nice touch). Good chapter.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Yeah, I like me some Aristotle. :) Thanks for the review!

Too bad she cant use a replicating charm and copy that ever so useful book of Draco's. I think he is going to flip out when he realizes he left it behind. It is unusal that notghost Snape let her have sex in his house. I thought he was against that sort of thing? What will Hermione do to test her newest theory???
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Are replicating charms canon? I can't remember. Anyway, I've always suspected that Hermione takes more notes than she needs to - with a memory like hers, why bother going to so much effort? :)Notghost Snape is not necessarily against sex. And that is all I will say about that. :-D Thanks for the review!
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Are replicating charms canon? Who the hell knows. I cannot keep canon and fandom straight. They are all mushed together in my mind. It makes reading all the more fun! Cant wait for the next chapter!!!

Notghost Snape can affect the physical world...Teach still makes me nervous. I thought it was quite clever of you/Hermione to taut Snape like that with potential sex on the table. wicked!

'On the table' literally and figuratively!I'm glad Teach makes you nervous - he's supposed to! :) Thanks for the review. ;)

Teach makes me nervous. I don't like his constant questioning. Is Hermione really dreaming? Or is this some kind of altered state (woot!) where she communicates naked with Snape?
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Well, no, she
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Well, no, she's really dreaming. But to paraphrase Dumbledore, why should that mean it's not real? :)

I love your magical 'science' thanks for more information about Horcruxes! Don't like Draco, though. Not a Draco fan. ick! But I am hooked on this story, so even if Hermione ends up marrying Draco, (shudder!) I'll still be reading till the end!
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Marrying?! Who said anything about marrying? Not in my fic, let me assure you!Anyway, thanks for loving the magical 'science' aspect - that is my favourite part to write! :)
Response from pookah (Reviewer)

was that a hint with the resurrection stone?and he wants to warn her about E. T. ?He wants her to continue her studies, but not tell Teach?or does her warn her not to start an affair with T.? I loved the kitchen-mess-up scen!!and a second time Teach had to flee the building. yes!he was relieved that it wasn't Snapes ghost, at least so he was told. would he have to fear him?these lovebites ar an interesting track. how does he mess with her soul and affects the physical world.you keep up the suspense.salva
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Not a hint with the Resurrection Stone - just an observation. :) As to the rest, well, you know I can't say, 'cause it would ruin the suspense! But there is more good stuff coming up in the next chapter, which I hope to post today or tomorrow. Thanks for the great review! :-D

I'm wondering what kind of relationship Severus and Hermione will have? Will she bring him back from the dead? Is he dead? Is there more than an impression of Severus left in the world?
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
He's dead, dead, dead as a doornail. As to the rest - you'll have to wait and see! :-D Thanks for the review.
