Reviews for Soul Man
I'm intrigued...
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Coming back to your reviews allows me to see this story through different eyes, and I'm glad to know that the first chapter hook intrigued you. :-)
What a spot to stop! Such a twisty cool story, so different, love it!
Cheat!!!! The f-ing tattle tail was probably just waiting for the house to be empty to get the info for himself. Didn't he think Kingsley would want Hermione to distroy the information if he told on her? Doesn't he think they will try to come after him to retireve it and distroy it? I guess he doesn't think they can get it from him.
I don't think it would be wrong for Hermione to have memorized the information somehow and only used it for Snape and Draco. Then when she dies the knowledge would not have gone any further.
I guess that's the end of her free reign of all The Ministry's departments and librearies of the world.
I had to start reading the story in 2 different tabs foreward and backwards until I could remember enough of what was going on to understand this chapter. I didn't mind though. It's a great story. Keep it up!!!
Would Professor Snape really be pleased? Some how, I doubt it.
"...you silly girl!"
Should I laugh or cry? I only read this story a few weeks ago and I can't remember what she saw actually turns out to be.
Great chapter, but I don't get the title...Well, I'm off to read the next chapter.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Yeah, the titles are just my little fun, really. I'm bad at coming up with them, so sometimes they can be a bit odd. :-) Thanks for reviewing!

I love how Severus was brought back, I wonder if there is a way to re-unite his soul and body? Or, will he be trapped forever the way he is?
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Well, it would be pretty icky if he was put back into his <i>own</i> body, considering what its condition would be after eight months in the grave (and that's if he wasn't cremated, in which case putting him back would be even more difficult!). And really, he's only dead, so he's not exactly trapped. Thank you so much for the review! :)

Oh, my. Excellent speech by Edward. I still have no idea what has happened (to say nothing of what might yet happen) and I am enjoying the suspense.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Thank you! I'm glad you see Edward's point of view and not just Hermione's. :-D Unique amongst the reviews for this chapter, at least so far.

I sure hope the next chapter is ready to go because waiting for it will be agonizing! This is the mother of all cliffhangers.

Oh, man oh man oh man!!!!Where to start?Okay, loved your explanation of how he felt on the potion and how he floated out of his body and just knew everything. I'm scared about that though, does he know something that he could use now that he has secrets?? Then I just loved how Snape took over his body and even though it wasnt his, he made it so. Everything, the way he moved and talked... very good, and I can see how easily and confusing that must have been for HErmione!!! I wanted MOREEEEEE.Then holy shit woman! The way teach was speaking to her at the end! I would have been scared senseless if he just turned on me like that, calling me a sick, sick bitch and SLUT. OMFG. WOW. I KNEW I hated teach!!! lolSo where does this leave us? So many questions... what is Hermione going to do now? She wants Snape and he wants her... so now what!!!!!!!Shell!~
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Argh! These reviews are always so hard to respond to, 'cause in my enthusiasm and grateful authory love I want to tell you everything, but obviously I'm not going to.So - the potion. Yes, when your soul joins the collective, you do know everying; or rather, you know everything in potential. But as Edward said, your cognitive capacity doesn't change, so while you *can* know everything, you *can't* know it all at once. Whether he learned anything useful on his trip remains to be seen.
And whoo, yes, Snape-as-Edward! A very tough idea in concept, so I'm glad I was able to write it convincingly! And o'course Hermione wanted more, too. No wonder she was so mopey afterward. ;-)
Teach on his own, as we have just learned, is not always a gentleman, but it had to be said. Imagine if a bloke you were lusting after preferred dream-sex with a dead woman to real-live-sex with you. It would be a bit icky and ego-wounding, no? He was totally harshing on her, though, and as we know, Hermione does not respond well to personal criticism. (Boo-hooing in girls' toilets, self-righteous silent treatment, etc.) So we will just have to wait and see what she does next.
More to come soon! I love your reviews. :-D
Response from shellsnapeluver (Reviewer)
See, I think I loved this part with Teach so much, is because you are right... so SOOO many times we see Hermione being the strong one... the one that won't take bs. However, the silent treatment... boo-hooing in girls toilet, you are right. Yes, she does do that stuff and I aplaud (I can NOT SPELL THAT WORD) for doing that.
And I love how someone finally said all that to her. I'd still be scared shitless, if I were her, but still.
I can't wait for more.

Teach was really harsh with Hermione, but I could see how he would think she was really playing him.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Yes indeed, he was harsh... but perhaps not too far off the truth. Thank you so much for reviewing! :-)

This is a nicely written and well researched story. I've especially enjoyed the beginning of the story, how Hermione discovered the nooks and crannies of Spinner's End. You've also done a great job in building up a really disgusting character with that smarmy Teach (I always find it much more difficult to build up such nasty characters, especially when they get such a big part in a story!). And I like very much how you have handled Draco. But somehow by this time in the story I don't think that the point of this story will be one that I can enjoy ... You see, I'm reading HP fanfic for the happy ending that canon denied me. Namely, that Snape survived or at least got a second life. There's enough death and unhappy endings with no second chances in real life, I really don't need that in fiction. Since I can't see any way of Snape returning to life in this story, I hope you'll forgive me if I stop reading. You write well, and I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the story!
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Thank you very much for the positive remarks and for your honesty. I understand totally about the happy endings. All the best! :-)

I think that to answer one of Cheat's questions, she should invite Warded Cheat to tie a string around a garden gnome and toss it into the doorway through the veil to see what happens to him, I mean it. My thought is that if he is holding onto the string, Cheat be pulled into the doorway and that will take care of that. Only, I'm sure Hermione would be sorry to have lost his financial support.
What?
Hmmm, do garden gnomes have a soul? Are garden gnomes sentient? What would happen if you put a mirror out with the garden gnomes? Will they recognize themselves? If Molly Weasely has garden gnomes in her garden, does Hermione?
I'm not surprised Severus had befriended this little boy. I bet the boy remineded him of his former boyhood self. I can imagine his calming and slightly stoic presense with his dry sense of humor and velvet voice patiently teaching this boy to play chess as he encouraged the boy to work hard and make good use of his intelligence. He must have locked Wormtail upstairs on Sunday afternoons. Hermione's smug words to Snape upon discovering this boy are disrepectful toward someone who thought enough of her to leave her his boyhood home. He probably saw in Hermione what he saw in the boy and thought she deserved a chance to have a life separate from Harry Potter and Ron Weasely. He wouldn't have known that her parents would decide to stay in Austrailia. He might have expected she would have a difficult time remodifying their memories and would need a home. Maybe he thought she'd sell it and use the money to further her education.
Warded Cheat! "Monocrome man". Nice. Somehow in spite of the fact that she carried a malevolent soul around her neck for a while, it doesn't seem to me that Hermione fully appreciates the gravity of what she is studying. This is very serious and obviously dangerous knowledge. She has set no boundries or guidlelines on the nature of her studies and she and The Ministry are willing to share this information with no contract regarding how this knowledge can or can not be used or shared. There should be some kind of copy right or something that allows The Ministry to retain some cotrol over this information or the deal is off no matter how much money this guy has. What would Dumbledore do? He isn't exactly the stellar example of Mister Ethics, but I do think he was at least careful as he went about dealing with ethics a little too loosely. He at least understood self preservation. Apperently no one has give much thought to "Homeland Security" or Classified Information and intellegence gathering guidelines. This guy is offering wealth for dagerous information. Shouldn't someone be suspicious? Hermione is obviously too young to be allowed free reign. I but if they had passed this idea passed Arthur Weasely, first, he would have advised caution. Lupin, Snape and Dumbledore would have said, "hold on a minute before you run off and do this." All the cautious people apparently died in the war. Where are the Unspeakables? Oh, Hermione, Hermione, Hermione. Didn't you learn anything at all from Mad Eye Moody?
The only good thing about having short and long term memory loss is that you get to read the same stories over and over because you can't remember exactly what happens next. I realized as I read the new chapter that I would have to read the story again to remind myself what horrible and dark acts Hermione actually performed to get her in so much trouble with Kingsley and how Snape ended up in Malfoy's body. I do remember that creepy Cheat guy and wondering why Kingsley trusted him so readily with so little proveance after just losing most of his friends in the war to kill Tom Riddle. Some people never learn I guess.
Well, here goes the old lady with the full hard drive in her head and years of way too much stress. I wonder if my reviews will change? How do I even find my way home from work every day?
Wicked!

edward was not far wrong altho he expressed it rather meanly concidering he volunteered for the experiment. thanks so much for the great update and i look forward to more.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Well, he wasn't really objecting to what happened during the experiment. It was more the fact that he felt humiliated, hurt, and sickened by her preference for Snape. More is coming soon! Thank you for the review. :)

oh my! I was on the edge of my chair reading this.it's so unfair. why did he have to get to know her secret.and she wasn't allowed much time with snape, not much questions no infromation, only this order.at least she knows now for sure that snape would want her too. but that leads to nothing.dead remains dead.periode.I think she can be glad that she has no more to do with E.T.. At least I hope so. but on the other hand. what will it do to her research. he was the patron. and what if he spreads his new won wisdom?lets hope for a happy new year 1999...
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Yes, poor Hermione - it's all very unfair. I don't think she'll have to worry about Edward telling her secrets - even if somebody did believe him, how embarrassing that would be for him! So that'll be all right. Thank you so much for the lovely review! :-)

Wow. That was incredible. Poor Hermione... and yet... it would have been totally wrong to use Edward's body. But still!!! Wow. This is a great story! I am enjoying it so much! Part of me wishes she could get Snape into his body again. I wonder why he's so against the potion... and Edward... guess I'll have to wait, eh? Great work!!!

something still seems off with Teach. what does he have to gain from all this? Most of this was his idea from the start anyhow. I can see why he was mad thoguh. Hrmm I still wonder if Severus isn't really dead just detached from his body. I need to go back through the previous chapters I'm not sure if you ever mentioned him being buried.Good work, I am always so pleased to a new edition t this story :))

This chapter was intense! I can understand Edward's anger towards Hermione, but as he did consent to the experiment, I have trouble understanding the entirety of his outrage. Snape has still not told Hermione why he wants her to desist, either, but it seems as if he may not want her to as badly as he did before. Very intriguing developments. I shall be watching for updates eagerly.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
Really, you can't understand it? You would not be a little offended and grossed-out to discover that a person you'd like to shag prefers dream-sex with a dead man? I, personally, would not be pleased, although obviously I wouldn't be as rude about it as Edward. ;-) Still, glad you liked it! Your reviews are always fabu. :-D
Response from emmeline33 (Reviewer)
Well, I did understand that aspect of it. Obviously, it's rather squicky and insulting. But he did decide to jump right into an experiment that allowed said dead man to use his body, and now he is behaving as if he is morally superior. Oh, well, I guess I'd be livid, come to think of it, whether I had a moral leg to stand on or not.
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
You're right, he has no business acting morally superior, especially since he convinced Hermione to perform an ethically dubious experiment. On the other hand, let us pretend that I am somewhat unscrupulous and unempathetic. Does this mean that for me to express outrage and disgust at what is, in a way, necrophilia, is hypocrisy? Are there gradations of immorality? Interesting philosophical questions. :-)

Oh what a mess. I guess I'd be quite angry, too, if I were Edward. However, I still cannot figure out what he has in mind. I am so looking forward to read more when I come back from my summer vacation!

Tying Teach to the chair reminded me very much of The Silver Chair, and I wasn't surprised when Snape demanded his release. I suppose Teach had some right to be angry with H and S for using his body, but his anger showed too clearly his vulgarity and "something-is-off-ness".
Response from julymorning (Author of Soul Man)
The Silver Chair... haven't read that in years! Yes, Teach is not what you might call a rock-solid type.:) Thank you for reviewing!
