Reviews for Second Life
Is it possible for a 37 no a 38 year old woman to have a heart attack reading fan fiction? I will be owling you my medical bills. Holy SHIT woman this was intense! I am looking forward to the day when I can print this monster out and read it all together. These cliff hangers are killing me! Thank you for giving Griphook more depth than he got in DH. Thank you for giving me this story instead of DH. I hope you talk more about life debts. I find it facinating. Does Snape know what she is up to? He is going to have a heart attack too. At least I'll have company in the cardiac ward.

I love life-debts too... such an odd, unexplained but intense part of JKR's magical world. And no heart attacks allowed, young lady! I have no money for your medical bills! ;)I'm so glad you liked this chapter. Thank you so much for reviewing!

WOw- lots of action and drama. I can't wait until Severus comes into the picture again. Thanks for posting another chapter, I'm really biting my nails for the ending!!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I know--I missed Snape, too! But this chapter was a monster--my longest yet--and so I just had to push him to the next one. But fear not, he's on the way! Thank you so much for reviewing. I'm so glad you liked the chapter!

I guess there isn't going to be any respite now till the end, however many chapters there will be:) I just don't know how long I can hold my breath, or how long my heart will stay in my mouth instead of where it belongs:)Superbly done, I wait eagerly for each chapter:){{hugs}}Fizzabella

I love all the action in this chapter. The pacing was great, and I enjoyed the deviation from DH. That scene in the book kind of bored me for some reason, so I was glad that you took liberties with it. One thing that kind of feaked me out was your description of the attacking goblins. That might actually give me nightmares, LOL. I'm eager for your next chapter, so hurry up, please! I just love this story! (But I'll be so sad when it ends.) (I think I'm conflicted, haha.)
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Oh, no! No nightmares, I hope. I was a little scared of the goblins, too. :)I had trouble with this scene in DH, myself, so I'm very glad that you liked it in SL. Thank you so much!More soon!

OMG! This is really a departure - no dragon ride! I'm jumping up and down with excitement (metaphorically speaking). How come the stars only go up to five? I want to rate it ten! You go girl! Take this the rest of the way and make it right!

!! I'm so glad you liked it without the dragon ride! (I just couldn't). More soon--we're coming down the homestretch now. :)

What a chapter - full of action and suspense and I was setting on the edge of my seat the whole time - great work.

To be honest - this is a far far better version of the Gringotts escapade than the original! In addition, the brief chat with Headmasters Black and Dumbledore very neatly and efficiently expressed the reason for returning to Hogwarts for the final Horcrux.Well done, Lariope! Your story just gets better and better.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you so much, lyn f!! And thank you for that little cheerleading section. They make my day. :)I'm really glad that you liked this--it was a little scary to go so far from canon, though I tried to keep the original elements present, if not quite what they were in canon. Thanks for reviewing! I really appreciate it.

Beautiful as always, my dear, and just where is Severus? One tiny typo in the 4th paragraph after they reach the lobby "She could see hear the explosive sounds of magic coming from the boys’ wands, the boom of spells that had missed and ricocheted off the floor, the squelch of a Stunner that had found its mark." She could see hear does not make sense. Hugs Irish
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, Irish. I missed Severus too... but we'll see him straightaway in the next one. And thank you for the help--it always amazes me what can slip through so many readings--I literally didn't see it until you broke it down for me. :)xoxox

Wonderful chapter! I loved the battle of Gringotts. Great imagination, great writing, lots of excitement. The feeling of dispair at leaving Shell Cottage was just wonderfully conveyed.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you! I'm really glad you found the chapter exciting!Yes, there was quite a contrast between Shell Cottage and Gringotts. I think they knew what they were leaving, which makes me all the prouder of them, if one can be proud of fictional characters. ;)Thank you so much for reviewing!

How desperately sad this chapter is - even more wrenching than DH - good job piecing it all together.

Oh my. This is a lovely beginning to a marriage law-ish story. Four stars for originality and DH-compliance as well! I love it when authors twist the arm of canon rather than bite its head off. I'll certainly be reading more.

An exciting (and honorable) escape. Well done. Truly, I'm beyond words here. Thanks for this.

Hermione was calling for Severus, but never said his name. She only called him "Headmaster", so Harry will certainly think that she has been in contact with Dumbledore, not Snape.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Absolutely--you've hit the nail right on the head. If he thought about it, he'd realize that something was amiss, but this is Harry we're talking about. Thank you for reviewing!

This chapter is Severus' goodbye isnt it? His weariness is almost tangible. I think you really nailed it with this idea As if to say, Look at me, Lily Potter. Look what you made me do. You could have saved me, but now I will be this. I never thought about it before like that, but damn woman it makes perfect sense. I also saw a parallel between Severus and James first meeting on the train and Harry & Draco's. Oh the irony of it all. I remain on tender hooks for the next installment. PS: I love the wand lore and all that sort of back story. What have you got up your sleeve for the trio's new wands? PS2: Will there be lots of ranting Harry and Ron when they see the pensive?

! Yes, I think you've nailed it. This is where Severus planned his goodbyes. I'm happy that you felt his weariness, his state of mind. And very glad that his memories and ways of thinking made sense to you. Thank you very much!I'm not giving away any future story info, you sneaky thing! But more goes up today, I think. :)xoxox

Oh. My. God.I am left utterly speechless at your story. When I initially plunged into the first chapter, I had no preconception of what I was in for. I am so very glad I clicked on that first button that led me to this point.
Excellently written. I adore the execution of this tale. A marvelous rewrite of canon. I think you're one of those writers who has possibly surpassed the writing skill of the progenitor of this fantasy world. Now, I can only hope you'll deign to update soon, to alleviate my symptoms of insatiable hunger for the next chapter, before the pangs consume me in fires of longing. I'm absolutely addicted to your story.

Thank you so much. I'm just staggered by your praise. And a little scared, because I'm sure to disappoint you! I'm so glad you found the story and so glad you are enjoying it. That means the world to me.More soon. Thank you so much for reviewing!
This is, as I'm sure you've been told already, a fantastic story, as true to HBP and DH as it could be while still allowing for a Hermione/Snape story. It's even more wonderful than JKR's work at times, because it seems more poignant and heartbreaking. If you have an update list, please add me to it. kawaiilildreamer@yahoo.com

::faints:: That was amazing. Breathtaking. Poetic. So many absolutely lovely moments here. "It was too late to unlove her." So... just... amazing. Because that's how it is, right? I mean, you love and move on but you can't deny that you ever, in fact, loved. You have explained Severus' past and why we all love him so much beautifully here. I... just... yeah.

. Yes, it is impossible to unlove, isn't it? You can stop loving, but you can't unlove. I'm glad you were able to love him here. xoxox
My dear, this remains a monumental, astonishing achievement. You have created a rich, satisfying story that fits expertly around canon, but you have made it quite your own.
These two fierce, brave, stubborn, incredible people are so perfectly drawn that I weep for them and cheer for them and am deeply contented by their story. I really only want more, but you have given me enough to see what is to come and how they will weather their warm, bright, well-deserved future together.
They are amazing, you are amazing. It was as moving and fulfilling this time at it was when I first read it. I am in awe of your talent.
He needs to pay penance of some kind, and it is obvious that this work is helping him to work his way back to life. And now he is using it to help her, as well. The scene with the flying flobberworms in utterly priceless. Everything still hurts, but there is hope here, too.
He wondered if this was what marriage was, just saving each other over and over again.
What an exquisite way of putting it!
Yes, Albus is very good at screwing people.
It is fascinating seeing all this laid out in the form of testimony--it's quite a convoluted story, these machinations of Dumbledore's!
And I think you can beg magic as part of your defense. Who knows what permutations of magical law make it different from that of the Muggle world?
