Reviews for Second Life
His undoing, indeed! This chapter was wonderful, truly! I really love how Severus came to realize that he wanted to spend Christmas with Hermione, in whatever way he could. The kiss was very sweet, I loved it! I can't wait for more!

God, I do adore this story. It's an addiction, I swear. No matter how dark, how insanely hurtful it is at times, it actually keeps my belief in... something, alive.
Thank you. And please, update, a lot. It makes me feel. It's nice.

I don't think I've ever been so touched by a review. Thank you so much. I really hope you continue to enjoy it.

Simply beautiful! Your writing is phenomenal. Every single word has a place, not a single extraneous thought.

Emmeline, from a writer as excellent as you are, that is the highest compliment. Thank you.

:) I love that they just got caught up in a moment. And I really love that Snape was the one to kiss her. It seems, things usually happen the other way around, with Hermione ultimately making the first hints, or moves toward a relationship. It was an unexpected and delightful little twist.

Thanks! Yes, Snape is always the driving force both literally and figuratively in this story for me. I'm glad it works for you!

Joy of joys, a new chapter! :)I loved the impulsive kiss, and his conflicting emotions. I'm addicted to this story; can hardly wait for the next chapter.

So Dumbledore doesn't want Prof. Snape and Hermione to get close. As if Snape's life isn't difficult enough; why can't he share some affection with his wife if she is amenable?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Because Dumbledore is a dumb butt. Who apparently renders me five years old. :)

I always pick up on the trivial, but, all that work on separating the mushies into edible ones, wasted!!! I thought for sure she'd offer to make him some mushroom soup or something to warm them after being outside.
Tell that girl to pick all those up and go make her man something yummy for his tummy ... that way she can maybe get another kiss, too!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'll pass that message along. :) Thanks for reading and reviewing!
This is such a wonderful story. I love how you've captured Snape's thoughts here, and his conflicted feelings. Look forward to more soon.

Uh oh. One would think that considering they have consummated their marriage, a kiss now and then wouldn't be all that inappropriate... but that would be logical, and it would mean a happily adjusted Severus, and that just isn't possible. ;-)
Poor Hermione - to be kissed and then left behind all on her own. Ah well, it's still a step in the right direction! And she did get a lesson on mushrooms (much to Ron's future displeasure).
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Yes, but since when has our dear Prof. Snape been logical when it comes to luurve?
Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Oh poor Severus. He is in such a quandry. Here before him is everything he ever wished to have and yet he feels he is unworthy of. What is with the Headmasters attitude? Did he not suggest, no insist, that they marry and now he disapproves of them spending time together? How will they react to the kiss? I hope it does not send Severus running in the other direction. Though I suspect this will be the case because he does not feel he is worthy of care and compassion.“To what? To be the only person in this castle who showed a modicum of concern for my well being? Think nothing of it. You’re forgiven.” This phrase like non other gives voice to how alone he truly feels. Well done dear Lariope!Irish
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you, Irish.
It's odd, this chapter, as I do feel so sorry for him, and yet it's a hopeful one, I think!
Oh, my, that chapter ending had me close to tears -- just very tender, humorous and sad at the same time! And the fact that Snape and Hermione have to leave so much unsaid between them ratchets up the tension considerably. As always, I also really like Ambiguous! Dumbledore hovering around the fringes; guess he doesn't much care for his followers developing their own agendas (insert evil grin here).
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I'm kind of glad that you read Dumbledore as ambiguous. That's very heartening to me.
And I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter. It's one of my favorites.
It was clear what all this meant: the disguises, the Occlumency,
the Shield Charms, the lessons in food and mediwizardry. She would be
going on the run.

I so love the way your story is intersecting with canon, indeed I do. Their time together was magical and their kiss was divine. I do love tortured Snape, but I wish he'd waited until after a few lemons to decide to be tortured.
Such a fabulous story!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Fear not, the lemons approacheth. :)
Thank you, Mia. I'm so glad you are enjoying this story.
She's weaving her way in his heart and body, it seems. Good.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
How could she not, our dear Hermione. I'm so glad you're reading. Thank you very much for reviewing!
I absolutely love this. Very good! Keep going, please! :-)

LOL, I'll never think of crossword puzzles in quite the same light again (cover for booty call!!!) Slytherin strategy--Weasel won't pay attention to Hermione's inattention if he's too busy snogging & cuddling w/Lavender. It shows a surprising display of mercy and understanding on Snape's part. How about someone Confunding the boys so that they won't think about Hermione's absences too much?
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Nor will I now that you've described them that way! LOL. Thank you for the review!
Getting better and better. Love the MLC twist!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you!
Really, really good start. I'm very impressed. I love "fill in the plot holes of DH" fics and this looks very promising. Good job!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Yes, that's definitely one of my goals as this progresses...so you'll see more and more of that. I'm glad you like it!
So sad that Severus finds himself so unloveable. That part got me in the story. I do hope that he comes to see his life in a different light. Good writing.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you. And it is sad, the way that Severus sees himself. I also hope that he will feel differently as things progress.

That is so sad, really.
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
I hope that you mean the way that Severus feels about himself, in which case I agree with you. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
Yes, exactly. His self-esteem is so low. It is really sad.

Oh wow, I honestly laughed out loud for a good minute when I realized that you were going to have Hermione set Lavender up with Ron. Too funny! I thought it was really neat how you had Hermione be the one to keep Severus on track during DADA; many people would have done it the other way around. Also, the way the infidelity charm works with the rings is a bit odd. I would think it would go off if they touched someone other than their spouse with amorous intentions, not if someone touched them with such intentions because one can hardly control if someone else touches them casually. All in all, great chapter! I'm looking forward to the next one!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
Thank you for the lovely review. I see what you mean about the rings, but I think they work that way in order to indicate a threat to the other spouse. For instance, if Hermione touched Ron but he had no feelings for her, no threat would be implied, as he would be uninterested. I don't know if that makes sense or answers your question, but I really appreciate your comments.
Response from Delayed Poet (Reviewer)
It does make sense, and thank you for clarifying. Besides all that you said, it does have the added effect of making the story a bit more dramatic *wink* Still anxiously awaiting the next chapter!
Response from Lariope (Author of Second Life)
*Grins* Naturally.
Next chapter should be up around Thursday! Thanks for reading!

Absoultly marvelous tale from start to finish.
This story keeps getting better. I feel sorry for Snape. He really does want to be loved, but at the same time he cannot see that his wife could very easily love him given the chance.
