Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.

And again, thank you. I am restraining from asking about Self-Writing Parchment, you know.
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
Ah, yes? Parchment? Um... let me guess.... Update?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, new chapters, when?
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)

Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well it would be rather surly of me not to forgive you, wouldn't it? LOL! Again, thank you!
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
Thank you. It's just that this was sooooo good. It's like a book you can't put down.
This chapter made me quite sorry about not having seen more of Hooch in the books. She can be such a great character!
Can't wait to see Hermione's vist with the Malfoys.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you -- she was so vivid in the movie, even though she wasn't there much. Plus I am enjoying working with a character that gives me such freedom from canon!
Oh, that is an evil Cliffie! What secrets will she uncover???? Oh, I cannot wait to find out.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, we can imagine they will be many and diverse!
ILMAO! Oh my goodness - I think I like the second bed much better!OH, and another good chapter!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you, thank you! I am SO loving reading your comments as you work your way through the book!
Oh my. If feels like Hermione's head is really spinning now. She had better step up her game or people like Lucius, Narcissa and Hootch are just going to walk all over her. I can't wait to see the sparks fly at the tea. Thanks again, JoAnne
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Her game seems to rise to the occasion, so we can only hope!
So, I suppose he doesn't want childern? BwahahahahGreat chapter - although - I'm a bit concerned about the Slytherins, Draco, Lucius, Parkinson and well, Draco's friends and Slytherins...Snape's gonna have his hands full -eh?OH! Yeah - another great chapter!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Snape's already got his hands full with Hermione. I hope he has time to take care of Slytherins or that House is going to blow up the castle!
Hi, I'm back! *waves merrily*
Your Rolanda is a treat to read. From the hornets nest she stirred up at the staff meeting to the tour de force handling of Hermione, she had me cheering all the way. Not one to have as a enemy, for sure.
I hate the double-standard that everyone seems to have in regards to Hermione. It's ok for the females in couples of the same age to be bedded until they can neither walk or think straight, but it's offending everyones sensibilities and provides grist for the rumor mill when it comes to our favorite couple.
And to make matters worse, as Madam clearly illustrated, and Severus brought to light - it will be the truths that hurt more, because having a much older spouse also tends to mean that person has a bit more of a past when it comes to relationships, intimate or otherwise.
Unfairly, that past can be used by others to cause dissention and harm... prepared or not, to both Severus and Hermione. Even more sad is the fact that it won't even always be enemies that use that information to harm.
Summing up everything so far, it looks like both Dumbledore and Voldemort have forced Severus to re-evaluate his loyalties, and the net result is that he is now loyal to his wife above all else. Because Severus hasn't quite acknowledged this shift himself, he's setting himself up for problems with both of his superiors.
I hope you don't make the newlyweds suffer too much from this oversight...
Did I mention how much I love this story?
Happy writing Mia!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for the VERY detailed and thoughtful review. You're picking up on a lot. I have to admit my Hooch is very much inspired by Zoe Wannamaker, and how I imagine she would be.
This chapter is so delicious! I love the first edition and teacup line and the wizard shaving soap! Brilliant! Great chapter to start your morning on.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!!!
I liked it, very enjoyable! Hermione lossing control, way too good. She had been the voice of reason way too long.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
This has been a joy to read and I am looking forward to the next installment.Thank you.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much. The next chapter should go up quickly now.
I just absolutely love how she reacted to Spinner's End. How can he not get that she doesn't look down on it and him? And I wonder just what she's going to find in her research. Hmmm.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, the research will hopefully be quite rewarding! Thank you!
This is my first review for this story... I just read all the chapters today. I'm not good at leaving reviews, so I hardly do it, but I wanted to let you know I very much enjoy this story and look forward to more soon.
Thanks!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me what you think of my story. I really do appreciate it!
Dear Mia;I just re-read chapter 24 and had to tell you the the first half where Severus muses on how he feels sleeping with Hermione is absolute poetry. I love this story. I had a funny thought about how I can't wait for you to finish it so I can re-read it straight through from the beginning. But, don't finish to quickly. Cheers,

What a wonderful review! Thank you!
And believe me, it won't finish TOO quickly; there's a lot to happen, yet!
Well, that somewhat explains Vector. I have no idea where all of these instructors came to their various conclusions, but I very much enjoyed Severus response.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
There will be more about the teachers and their conclusions before long! Thank you for taking time to review!
Hmmmm, he's feeling cold in the bed, is he? Mwahahaha!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes. VERY.
Snerk.
Poor Severus feels a little out classed I think. Cute. Will he be telling her how the other teacher's think she is a waste of their time?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I don't think he'll tell her. But she'll find out. It won't be pretty.
Great as always.I actually cheated a little and read ahead at the other site you have this on - couldn't wait :) and the future chapters are just as impressive. The only problem with reading ahead is that now I have to wait longer for the new updates - pisser But still - great story, great writing, and as always, I look forward to more.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for letting me know! I'm grateful for your continued reviews!
Those two are such idiots sometimes. But I still hold out hope for them.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! I'm glad you're holding out hope. I am, too!
I just read through all this story in one sitting. It's wonderful! I really like what you're doing with this, and I hope you keep it up! :squee:
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I'm glad you're liking it, and I'm definitely still writing it!
Very nice chapter. While I am still frustrated at the formal nature of their interactions, I can see how they are melting towards one another, even if they can't just yet. I love the insights into how Severus really feels -- like when he saw her in the short tea dress -- even if he doesn't lend those moments any weight. I think the Malfoy tea is going to be enlightening for everyone concerned. I look forward to your next installment. Thanks, JoAnne
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank YOU! I don't think witches show a lot of leg (or possibly even skin) in their day-to-day activities, so thought even normal teenaged girl Muggle clothes would freak him out.
Well, so far this is my favorite SS/HG story. No rush. Great description of the main characters and their (fighting of) feelings. I really adore your Snape and your Hermione. I soooo hate storys where Snape is not a most utter bastard. He is cruel, he is most selfish and he is He-who-should-not-be-named-Severus. Yeah, you always call him Snape and thats most fantastic. Your Hermione - superb. Nice, smart, not bitching, pondering. Hell, have I EVER read a story where the author kept the characters so in canon ? No. Oh how I loved your Hermione-fights-Dumbi-like-fuckin-hell chapter. That was a great view on old Dumbers. Totally terrific-
And you make up your own mind and add your own tales to canon (Baroness Hermione, your friendly muggleborn, anti-Malfoy, Snape, who actually is the Pure-Blood Prince), thats always a risk to earn flames from die hard fans, but your storytelling is just too good so I shove my flamethrower back up my arse :D.
Great read, I was very surprised and most happy to see chapter 25 up so soon. I hope this is going to be a classic.
Iam deeply in love with your brain
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I am flattered beyond words by your review!
I'm particularly relieved that you think Hermione and Snape are still in character. They pretty much are what they are when I write, and if you told me they'd gone way out of character I might have believed you, but wouldn't be able to change them.
Thank you.
Wonderful as always. So much is going on with this story that it is addicting -- which for me is a good thing! I am surprised at McGonagall and the other professors. I would have thought they would be able to see more clearly, especially when it is Hermione one of the more mature students to pass through the school lately. But I am looking forward to more of your Hooch. It sounds like she is a dueling master on the side. As always I look forward to this story's continuation. Thanks, JoAnne
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you -- there will be more with the faculty, and a lot more with Hooch!
I'm not envying Hermione's next day and tea with Narcissa Malfoy... even if she does get to wear her mother's clothes and jewelry!
I'm very much enjoying the way they're getting closer. Even if Severus is still all prickly (but he wouldn't be Severus if he wasn't).
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm worried about the tea with Narcissa, and I'm writing it! LOL!
Thanks!
I love this story! I really hope you update soon!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I'll have a new chapter in the queue for validation before the end of the day, I hope!
