Reviews for Southern Magic
Excellent installment. I love that wizards and witches raised in muggle environments deal better with Hermione's power. Both Snape and Hermione are really cool here.

. Why should witches and wizards have all the skills and the constant upper hand, I say. lol
I still really adore this story. I can't think of anything detailed to say, but I just love it.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
I am pleased you still like the story. Thanks.
I wonder about her little boy as well. Also what was all that about Snape checking out Harry?! I loved that last bit of dialouge between Hermione and Snape very touching :)
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Thanks Calicosky. Snape checking out Harry? Well now, I don't want things to become predictable, do I? :D
Response from Calicoskys (Reviewer)
LOL I definatly can't say your very predicatable but it's all good. We'll just have to keep our eye on you :PP!
Snape was checking out Harry! I don't want to think about that if this is an SS/HG story. Shoving that out of my head, Hermione seems to be healing well and she will be protected by special clothing, which will also protect those around her, but I would think it would still be painful for her to remain at Hogwarts inside the castle (eventually). I am so curious about her "little boy." Is he her biological son, adopted son, or just a special boy in her village?
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Lol.. it *is* a SS/HG story but with some nice twists (if you haven't already figured them out!). Thanks for reviewing.
Good chapter. I have to admit you are weaving quite a tale.

Thanks
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
. Yeah, it felt quite a bit like weaving as well.
Southern magic seems to be considerably more ritualistic and formal. I'm enjoying the way this story is slowly unfolding.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Who says there should be only one form of magic eh? Thanks for reviewing

great chapter, I got a bit uneasy on the surgery, but that's because I'm nervous anyhow.

- all my mad dashes to the er (not for me) have been put to an unexpected use :)
I truly enjoy reading about this different kind of magic. Very interesting, and captivating chapter!

O I am so glad you updated. Just yesterday I was thinking about your story and hoping you'd tell all of us soon how Hermione was doing. And what a story it was.. very clever of Snape to transform the curse this way, he really is good at thinking out of the box.
And I do like the interaction between Snape and Hermione so much that I think it's a little bit a pity you have labeled your story as mystery and adventure since IMO they are made for having some sort of romance together as well.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Hmmm yeah, to be honest, I had to think about which labels to put on this story as I generally find labels and ratings tricky. Thanks for reading and reviewing :)
waouh! This improvised surgery has left me speechless.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Hmm...I suppose it could be considered unusual - it was interesting to write. Thanks for reviewing :)
cooooooool.wow, I wonder...is Snape actually a girl under all that black??
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
lol....that's an odd question; it seems to be variation of 'what's under that kilt ??'- ahh the mystery...the allure...will we find out? lol
Wow ! What a chapter, so angsty and so captivating. I so totally like your story that I can't keep my eyes off of it. I love the way that Snape takes care of Hermione. But I wonder who's that person she meets in her dreams? I hope to find that out shortly.

I loved this chapter, but I was away for a few days so I have to re read from the beginning to make sense of all this.

Thanks

. I know this sort of story doesn't really lend itself to a wip or too many interuptions, but the good news is that I've pretty much finished it. It will be 20 chapters all up (actually 19 chapters and an epilogue) *phew*
I like protective Snape. I love that Hermione's training allows her to appreciate his care without embarrassment.
This was a great installment. Thanks for posting.

What a dreadful dream! I'm glad Severus was there. But what about "him"?
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Yeah it was - poor Hermione. Thanks for reviewing setentrion. (btw I'm fascinated by your name - I keep trying to dissect it eveytime I read it.... seven bulls? I'm sure I'm wrong....)
I've been guilty about not reviewing every chapter. I want you to know that I love love love each and every installment. This was amazing. She was gone for 3 hours! I can't wait to learn 'where' she is going and how it affects the whole story. I wonder if when all is said and done Snape will go back down South with her. I can't wait for the next update!
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Thank you so much

- much appreciated; I'm glad you are enjoying it. Next chapter will be up as soon as my beta has rest and recovered from her adventures in New Orleans :)
Thank you.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
You are most welcome - I am glad you like it.
I have decided that Hermione's interactions are spiritual in nature, and that 'He' can be loving and vengeful. Her growing connection with Snape seems a soulful one. Each understands the other on a level unknown by those around them: friends, colleagues, society, and perhaps Wizarding Britain. I am not sure where the "South" is, but my guess is that it is not part of the UK.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
That's a very interesting and perceptive take on the story,

I've been devouring this story as soon as the chapters come up. The imagery and expressions of this story are incrediable. Well done :)

I am amazed at the poetry and romance of this story. The illusion of Harry falling into the abyss is perfect. I have tons of questions for what will happen but I'll eagerly await for the next update.

Ah, interesting relationship that is developing there.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Yeah - it's certainly going in that direction. Thanks for reviewing :)
Very nice and interesting story hoop you'll update soon.. O and Hermiones dislike of magically prepared food reminds me of people who dislike microwave food..

lol - never made that connection before - you could be right. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Another thought - and I do love this story. There is, perhaps, unnecessary repition.
Having heard Snape explain, to the mediwitch and the headmaster, why the magic healing was not working as it should, it may not be necessary to have had Snape explain it to Hermione. She might have expected such a thing on her own, and Snape quickly confirms it. Also, having Snape criticize the nurse/aid for starting to use magic to dry the floor could happen earlier in the scene, causing Hermione to realize the problem, if she hadn't already.
Just a thought. You may have a purpose of which I am not aware.
I love Snape's tenderness and reverence. The dialog is top notch and I can't wait for more.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
lol - Here I was trying not to be as oblique as my previous chapters and trying to spell things out a bit more :) But I suppose the rationale behind it was to emphasis the isolation between the two communities and that Hermione really has no idea about the different magics and how they intereact. Don't forget it's her first trip back. Thanks for writing your thoughts - most interesting.
I'm enjoying this story very much. (Really liked the spectacle of the magical medical staff not knowing what a sponge bath is!) It has a very unusual and imaginative perspective. I'm not entirely clear on what is going on with some of the animal/nature imagery in this chapter, and some of the shape-shifting that seemed to be going on during the battle with the Death Eaters. But it also seems that those things are all part of the mysteries that are being unraveled as the plot develops, and it's a very intriguing story.

Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
. Yes, it most definitely is a plot driven story. Glad you liked Madam Pomfrey et al not knowing about a sponge bath - it made me chuckle as I wrote it too.
