I really liked this chapter. I agree with Gwenog you have a very unique writing style that perfectly fits this story; your writing is as naturally flowing as your precious water element.
What I specifically admire is your talent to write about these visions in a way that is both believable and understandable, written in such an eloquent style; but at thesame time very much to the point, every word is exactly at the right place.

Wow - I don't know quite what to write (and that's saying something!) Thank you,

-- I'm happy you are enjoying the story. I was definitely 'pushing the envelope' with this chapter and was quite unsure whether I had the skills to pull it off. *phew*
Are you gonna tell us who is that person Hermione's meeting in her vision. I really am curious about that and it becomes to furiously frustrate me you know.I also like the way you describe Snape : like a calm man and not the angry one that I'd imagined from the books.

Now, now, my dear, do you go around asking old JK the mechanics of wand magic? lol Um.. I think I'm safe to say there isn't a single defining chapter or paragraph that explains 'him', but by the end of the story you should have a much clearer idea of 'him'. (I'd hate for you to be hanging out for a complete, definitive explanation when there wasn't one) 'He' is as central to Southern Magic as a wand is to Northern Magic.
Incredible chapter, well worth the wait. I can't wait till I see what happens next!

That chapter was unlike any other that I have ever read. The Southern Magic aspect of this story lends its self towards an entirely unique writing style--such as that of this chapter. Amazing!

- I'm pleased I managed to pull it off ( I wasn't entirely sure whether it would work or not.)
Aw. They're friends. Now I must go reread that vision so I can figure everything out! Great chapter.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
lol and such lovely friends too :)
Now I'm curious about what's up with McGonagall. I like the way you've made the two areas so divided and managed to keep the mystery and distrust between them.

I'm hooked on this story and am eager for the next chapter! My guess is the rune-embroidered clothing will either prevent people like Minerva from sensing Hermione's strange magic. In fact, I'm wondering if Snape has the same runes sewn into his own handmade clothing to prevent people from sensing his own southern magic. Or the runes may also serve as a tracking device for Snape to find Hermione later on (let's hope because I have a hunch she's about to be snatched from the cabin).

Harry is nicer in this chapeter but not any smarter. Yikes, he left her alone and wandless in the FF knowing that Voldemort is determined to find her. And that pain he felt in his scar when he was first in the cabin can't be a good sign; I'm thinking Voldmort was having a look-see through Harry's scar to determine exactly where Hermione is being sheltered.

. I am pleased you're enjoying the story so much. You had some very interesting thoughts on the chapter.
What in the world is up with McGonagall? It's so weird that she's the only one who reacts to Hermione.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
All will come clear in the next chapter :) Thanks for reviewing,

Great installment. Minerva M. was quite interesting. It was good to see Harry behaving himself. Snape continues to be . . . Snape. I'm so sorry that Hrmione attracted Voldie's attention, though - that is never good. Please update soon.

My guess on this chapter is that Snape is looking better because he is using and spending more time in the Southern Magic environment. The opposite is true for McGonagall, the more exposure the worse she feels. It seems to me that McGonagall is becoming resentful because of this. She also seemed quite puzzled that Harry is not affected. I agree with one of your other reviewers about his/her theory on Harry being raised to not use magic and he frequently does things the old fashioned way (muggle). It is disappointing that Harry still hates Snape, with as much as Snape has had to endure for the sake of the Light. I hope to see more of Snape and his interactions with Hermione. He seems quite taken with her and has a lot of respect for her.

Oh you are good
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
, very good - are you sure you are not a detective in RL? Plenty of Snape and Hermione in the next chapter :)
Great chapter. Easy to read and understand, and lots of new information.

I'm glad to see Harry coming back to his normal state of mind. But I wonder why he doesn't seem to be affected by Hermione's magic just like Professor McGonnagal seems to be. Plus Hermione hides some secrets I'd like to know about. Actually soon would be great. Don't take it the bad way, it's just that I really like your story and I can't wait for more.

So Hermione's magic doesn't give Harry a headache? I hope the Weasley's don't give him too hard a time, because he loves Hermione so much.
Response from lapita (Author of Southern Magic)
Erm no -- but the reasons will be given in the next chapter :)
I was wondering about the same thing till I realized Harry is brought up in a muggle home, just like Hermione and therefore used to do things manually without any magic. So maybe for people who are familiar with that concept, this Southern magic is not so draining, since they have a way to work around it that still feels natural to them. I think for someone like Minerva her kind of magic is the only way of acting -or even being- that feels natural for her so it's likely she will get out of balance when she can't use that.
Anyway, a lovely chapter and I am glad Harry has changed his behavior towards Hermione. I would have liked more Snape in this chapter but I do understand you sometimes need to tell things about other characters as well:-) good works; as always, i hope you'll update soon.

Thanks so much for writing your thoughts down -- it really helps me to know if I've struck the right balance of revealling what when. Much appreciated.
Why does the magic in the house affect Minerva so extremely and not a all to Harry? I hope she's up and about by the next chapter. As always, I love this story, this chapter, your writing etc. I'm not being flippant about this but I really have to start borrowing my daughter's Thesaurus so I can come up with proper compliments that aren't redundant. I am very sincere in my admiration of this story. Update soon, this is beautiful.

Yay! We can't have our Hermione threatened by some festering curse. But now . . . "It's only a flesh wound." :D

lol - a festering curse is certainly not for our Hermione. Thanks for reading and reviewing :)
