Reviews for Snape, A History
I think you achieved the perfect blend of indignation and remorse on his part. Wonderfully done, and the kiss made my day. :)
...I think I'm going to die if I don't find out immediately how Severus is going to react. :)I simply love this plotline. It's very believable, very like Hermione, and you're such a wonderful writer. I can't wait for an update!
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Ah, but his reaction will actually be up to you! What do you think he will do? And please don't die. Reviewers are few and far between, and I need all I can get.
Response from dolefully desired (Reviewer)
Well, if it were up to me, there wouldn't be much talking involved. :-P But to be true to character, I'm sure he'll have to lash out at her first in order to allay his own guilt. I don't think I can bring myself to die until you've finished the story, so don't worry. :)
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Yes, lashing out will be the order of the day. And thank you for not dying yet.
In France we have an expression for Lawrence's mistake : it's "mettre les pieds dans le plat" which means : "to put the foot in the dish". Well it doesn't really matter after all. Now Severus know about Herm's sacrifice and I am curious to discover what he would think of it, and do of course.PS : if you could tell me the english equivalent of my french expression ... well thanks for that too.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Same here, except we put our feet in our mouth instead of in our dishes. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more.
Very nice. Excellent end to the chapter! I have really enjoyed this story.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Thanks so much for the kind words.
Thank you Thank you for a new chapter.
It was wonderful. Yes life does get in the way when your trying to introduce your new beau to your parents.
Yep Sev is a bit shock I'm certain. Glad her dad is the one that told him but I'm sure Sev's not happy it didn't come from her.
I'm sure she's going to get the "look" when they get back. Hopefully her mother isn't to drugged to drive. Maybe that would make the ride home more enjoyable. waiting for more.

Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Yes, she will definitely get 'the look'. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Okay... I am finally reviewing this story. I would have reviewed sooner, but I became so wrapped up in it, I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter. Whew!! I LOVE this story. I can't wait for an update.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Thanks so much! More chapters soon.
Ah, the cat's among the Pixie's now! I don't expect he's accustomed to others putting his well-being ahead of their own goals. I see the next chapter is in Q - thanks!!
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
I doubt if he thinks ANYBODY cares about his well-being. The man is definitely getting an education!
Excellent chapter! ... (wonderful portrayal of the parents)
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Thanks for reading and reviewing.
bumm bumm bumm...
and the sickle drops!
anywho poor hermione, what a horrible night. update soon please i really want to see the outcome of this.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Or possibly the guillotine. Thanks for reading!
Poor Hermione, wanting everything to be just right and having the evening unravel like that. But by the end there, I'd say the evening was going better than expected, actually <evil grin>. That is, assuming Snape doesn't decide to get on his high horse again.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Sorry, but he's got one foot already in the stirrup. Thanks for reading.
You know, you got me very interested in that dish of yours. Any chance for a receipe? I'd loved that!On a story relevant note, Lawrence is amazing the way you portray him. Your version of Hermione's father can handle Snape very well and their man-to-man conversation is subtle, yet they openly address issues that Hermione is incapable of. When I confront this dialogue to problems I've had in my writing, you managed to get the message across to your readers marvelously, but without compromising characterisation of your prime pair. Excellent. Loved it.

INGREDIENTS
- 2 pork tenderloins
- 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 shallots, minced
- 1 cup Marsala wine
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Coat pork tenderloins generously with mustard. Oil a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange tenderloins in pan, and brown the meat. Turn to brown evenly. Transfer meat to prepared baking dish.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Turn, and continue cooking for 20 minutes, or until desired doneness.
- Meanwhile, melt butter over medium heat in the same pan used to cook the pork. Cook shallots in butter until soft. Stir in Marsala, mustard, and cream, and cook until volume of liquid is reduced by half.
- Slice pork, and place on a serving dish. Spoon sauce over meat, and serve.
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 10 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 4 tablespoons black sesame seeds, toasted
- Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot. Add the spinach 3 to 4 cups at a time. Cook and stir to wilt, then add more spinach.
- Grind the sesame seeds into fine crumbs using a mortar and pestle. When spinach is wilted, move it to the sides of the pan and sprinkle sugar in the center. When the sugar melts, stir in the spinach to coat.
- Transfer spinach to a serving plate and sprinkle ground sesame seeds on top.
To toast sesame seeds
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spread sesame seeds on a dry baking sheet. Toast in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until fragrant.
Oh, is Hermione ever in trouble now...something tells me that Severus isn't going to be happy with her at all after learning that she's lied to him, even though her intentions were good. I have the feeling that he may end up giving her the information she wants in a sort of reversed "Gift Of The Magi" (each agreeing to something they wanted to avoid for the sake of the other) -- but being the consummate Slytherin that we all know and love, it's pretty obvious that Severus is going to make her pay for this in some fashion or other...
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Perhaps not. Perhaps he's learned his lesson by now?

What an evening! Geez, talk about bad luck. But... there was a good outcome. SS got to know the real reason behind the failed negotiations. Hermie's dad is a gem... really. Good stuff, keep writing and i'll be reading it! Cheers!
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Surely you've noticed that the course of true love doesn't exactly run smoothly for dear Hermione and Severus! But things will improve. A bit.
I'd love to hear Snape's rant at Hermione's reason for not getting published! hehehehe.. sorry the thought tickled me. Great story btw!~*~SeleneAngel~*~
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Fortunately, I deliberately did not include that scene so that each reader might exercise his/her imagination. Although, it DID have possibilities...
Good for you Hermoine. Integrity is everything!!!
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Yup. Painful, but everything!
This is a great surprise it's been up so fast. And what a difficult choice she has to make : Love or job. Eternal dilemma especially for women. Well I'm sure talking with the first concerned could help. Take your courage with both hands Herms. Of course I'm expecting the next very impatiently. PS : thanks to the administrators for validating so quickly
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right: women have to weigh love and job all the time, don't we? Thanks for reading.
I love how you show Hermione's despair over both liking Snape and not wanting to print the book with the info she has about Severus. You are quite brilliant in showing the reservedness of Hermione. Look forward to the next chapter.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Thanks! I would imagine that writing about people you know has its drawbacks. You would be walking a very fine line there.
When you came up with Vance's attitude and his demand for controversy, I was SURE he would turn out as a Death Eater or at least Voldemort's supporter. Instead, he is merely a businessman. One cannot argue with his point that sensations would sell the magazine. They always do. Unfortunately. Hermione is in quite a predicament. I'm looking forward to her next confrontation with Severus. Direct confrontation. The one that we will actually see. You portray them so nicely together.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Thanks, Nata. I chose not to show Hermione's actual conversation with Severus, so you'll have to see what takes place later.
Another excellent chapter.
I hope she doesn't give into their demands. I have a feeling Mr. Vance would add stuff for his own satisfaction.
Maybe they should just make their own publication.
Waiting for more.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
I suppose that if you are someone of JKR's status, you don't have to submit to a publisher's demands. Unfortunately, Hermione doesn't fall into that category...
So, we don't see Hermione telling Severus what happened at lunch, I take it? Or Hermione's reaction to the editors, for that matter. I'm not complaining, I'm merely put out that we don't get more in this chapter and I have to wait for the next one!
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Yes, I chose not to show Hermione's conversation with Severus. But not to worry - there will be repercussions later!
Ugh, publishers!I hate when people speak before they actually know who they are talking to.But, if Snape is incapable of sharing his inner thoughts with Hermione, they have a tough road ahead if this actually turns into something.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
I think he'll be able to share a bit in the future. Thanks for reading.
Wankers! Muckrakers! I'm glad she stuck to her guns. More?
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Yes, indeedy. More soon.
Ooooh noooooo! Poor Hermione! Have her dreams just been dashed for the sake of sensationalism? What a let-down... what will she do now? She doesn't have many outlets left to get her work published. I'm eager to see where this will go from now on. Good job and hope to see more soon. Cheers!
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Thanks so much! I appreciate your taking the time to read and review.
And there she goes, being all noble and Gryffindor. (Wouldn't have her any other way.) It's harder to predict how Snape will react -- one of the things about the way you've written him is that he keeps everything so close to his vest you can't figure out which way he'll go. Thanks for the update and as always, looking forward to seeing how the story continues to unfold.
Response from Kailin (Author of Snape, A History)
Much more soon (including a few surprises). Thanks for reading!
