Reviews for The Iago Complex
Once again I have no bloody idea what is going on. That's why I enjoy your stories so much. Unpredictable and fabulous. Keep 'em coming!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Woohoo! Thanks! Next chapter will be up in a couple of weeks -- more intrigue and nastiness... and, erm, tennis... Pxx
Oooh, dark intrigue... wonderful! You have captured Draco's maniacal intentions chillingly well *shuddering* He had better have throrough supply of the pyscho-narcotic substance in hand because if and when Severus will be aware of what's happened and act against it--ufff! Even Azkaban won't save him... Can't wait for more! Imperius curse placed on real life to let Pxs write, write, write!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
*Glassy eyed... bows low... picks up pen... err, keyboard...* ....! :) Pxx
Ooooh yes, the plot thickens! *shudders* What has Draco done to poor Severus? And what has Lulu in mind for our heroine? And when and how and with what will Hermione connect that 'curiously burning expression' in Severus' eyes? Reading on, you minx-sphinx storyteller! Great chapter *and yes, I have to write it again, you write Slytherins so well--hehe!*
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Thank you! They are a real challenge to write for... and something is most definitely not right here.... Thank you for taking the time to review, nag! *Bows low* Pxx
Loved the dream sequence *yum*! It has coated everything with a creeping, seeping mist of mystery *double yum*! Nott is a dubious one, isn't he? Regardless, I enjoyed this scene between him and Hermione--it almost makes me trust him... howver didn't our dearest Lucius & Draco refer to him earlier... so... Wimbledon or no Wimbledon, Hermione has her wand, right?;-) Aww, poor Severus, Pomona is enjoying herself almost too much at his expense--hehe! Go, Severus, go! Flee thee to Wimbledon! Make haste!xxx
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
I've always said that I'm a fan of ambiguity... and Theodore Nott is a fascinating character to write for. Keep an eye on him...! Pxx
I must say, you've written this scene with Narcissa and her personal trainer coming out of the shower so vividly and effortlessly it makes me think of the ol' writer's motto 'write what you know' *evil cackling* Seriously, I enjoyed Hermione, Ginny & little Lily just as thoroughly and the set up of what's to come. Yes, you are really giving us a new treat with this story and the fast-paced scene-changing dynamics in each chapter--you get my heart thumping with *anticipation*. Wonderful work! Looking forward to more and more of this delightful whirlwind tale!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Ahhh - the shower scene is all down to the power of imagination, I assure you! Oh.. and old Dynasty re-runs.... I'm so pleased you are enjoying the story, nag! I am working on the final chapters now (if only RL would give me a break!). Pxx
Well, you've done it again. I can hardly wait for updates! This Draco is so icky. Brilliant!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Wonderful! Icky is a great way to describe Draco here.... There will be more updates soon - although RL is seriously getting in the way and I'm finishing off my contribution to the Potterfest on Livejournal, so the next chapter will be another week or so....! Pxx
This IS getting darker! When Draco took out the vial of "sugar" to put on the strawberries, I immediately thought of the Sleeping Draught Severus had taken the night before. Could Draco have somehow put the foolproof compulsion drug in the draught? No, not likely... but how could he have gotten the drug into something Severus would eat or drink? So, I went back a few chapters and skimmed for clues, and what I found makes me wonder if Draco and Nott aren't working together–each for his own reasons. If Draco hadn't put the drug into the Sleeping Draught, then....... could Theo have put it in the sugar he passed to Severus at breakfast on the morning after Snape and Granger's second night together (in as many nights)? It's possible. I think. Oh, yeah. What is it with the scar on Hermione's forearm and Severus' scar on his neck? Evey time either of them think of the Malfoys, they rub their scars like they're itching or hurting? This chapter is chock full of clues! However– as usual there are so many possibilities that I cannot think I have even a small chance of guessing correctly. More clues, please. Beth
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
They're on their way! As always you are hitting the nail on the head. There are wheels within wheels here, and a mixture of humour and delicious revenge is in the offing.... More soon! Pxx
Ewww!!! So that's what Draco has in store for Severus. Poor Hermione! I wonder who's all involved in this scheme. I'm hoping Severus is able to either fight it, or find a cure. No wonder Lucius wanted Hermione with him so bad. I'm thinking he's working with Draco, and they both knew that if Severus was with Hermione, he wouldn't have left her side. I hope Nott isn't a part of this. But if he knows about it, I hope he can help Severus.
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
It's not looking great. The prompt I'm working with has sent me into interesting places... and every Slytherin has an agenda here, apart from Severus, who is the subject of at least one of them. Can Hermione save the day? IS Nott the good guy she thinks he is? WILL Lucius show his true colours? HAS Narcissa hatched a plot with her son for true revenge...? Next chapter is on its way... soon.... Pxx
discreet was spelt wrongly as discrete three times in your story. but a very original piece!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
*facepalm* D'oh! Thanks for the feedback! I'll pop in and fix it. Pxx (Glad you liked the story so far!)
That was a dark twist!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
It's getting twistier and twistier. Just hope I can hang on to it... more coming soon. Hermione is about to show her companions her inner Gryffindor... Pxx
Noooooo! That didn't answer any questions! I had originally thought that it wasn't too strange that the Malfoys invited Severus to join them. But, now after that trial business ... who knows. We don't know if what Severus said landed Draco in Azkaban, or if he was put there regardless of Severus' testimony. If it is the former, this could be ugly. I at least know the prompt for the story, and still, I have no idea what is going to happen. Which-although it is killing me to not know where this goes- is a sign of a well written story. You job, you!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
*Ebil laughter* Snort! That's exactly what I'm going for - I want to try to keep you guessing as long as possible even though you gave me the prompt in the first place. I would say that this is by far the toughest assignment I've had but I'm loving it! Pxx
So, who are you taking with you?" Hermione sighed. "Theodore Nott." "I thought Snape was taking Nott!" Ginny sat backwards in surprise. There was a short, embarrassed pause. "As soon as Severus left the room, I Floo-called Theodore and invited him before Severus could."If that isn't the most Slytherin thing she could have done, I don't know what is, lol. Can't wait to see the fallout from that move! She wondered what Lucius was up to... And a delicious thrill coursed through her at that thought. So she isn't as over Lucius as we might have thought. I don't know if this makes things easier or more complicated. Time will tell."But... but... It's just sitting there...!" Narcissa rolled her eyes in some irritation. "Well, of course it's just sitting there, you foolish man. It's waiting to be paid." I love how she says this as if it is the most obvious thing in the world to a Muggle! And what is so clever about her boy?! Moving on quickly ...
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
The fun thing about writing Slytherins (I am discovering) is that there are ALWAYS ulterior motives going on. All will be revealed (and yes I AM gong to stick to your prompt!!!).... Pxx (Narcissa is rather deliciously naughty, isn't she? I've got the image of Charlieze Theron in my head as I am writing her...) Pxx
Oh, Proulxes, I hope you aren't cursing me, as you've written me this lovely story, and I am just now getting around to reading it. Real life has thrown me some serious curveballs in the last month or so. I didn't realize how long I've been away until I see that there are three chapters for me to enjoy. But still, I am a bit glad that there are three stacked up. No cliffhangers for this lady ... for a couple chapters anyway.Poor Severus, he is just so ... Severus. All good intentions with a mouth full of feet. What was he thinking suggesting that he take Nott instead of Hermione?! Although in fairness, she was the one who asked to keep things under wraps, wasn't she?I loved the scene at breakfast where he was being interrogated by his colleagues, but he was keeping his cool and sort of holding his own, until Hermione breezed in and spoiled it.Snape fought the temptation to roll his eyes and groan. Gryffindors. She might as well have made an announcement to the whole bloody Hall. HeeHee!But, I'm with Hermione. Why would the Malfoy's suddenly invite her to an event? Wimbledon, of all things. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Narcissa ...
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Weeeell, I had to throw something into this plot that you didn't expect! Great to hear from you (I was worried!) and I'm really happy that you liked the chapter. This one was fun to write (I am steadily falling in love with Nott as a character and he has a bigger part to play than I had originally envisaged). Tee hee. Pxx
This tale has more twists and turns than a dog's hind leg! I can't get rid of the thought that Severus' dream hints at future travails for our secret lovers... Was Draco sent to Azkaban in spite of or because of what Severus said from the witness stand?I'm glad that Pomona ran into Severus in the Entrance Hall. At least now he knows that they tried to wake him."A purple and green ticket rested beside an empty vial of Sleeping Draught on the bedside table, his name inscribed upon it in Lucius' insouciant scrawl." Does this mean Lucius' insouciant scrawl was on the tickets or on the empty vial? Or both?A nifty mystery you're giving us! I love it.Beth
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Hi Beth! Thanks for your review - as always!! I know it's getting ridiculously convoluted but I'm writing Slytherins, and Slytherins ALWAYS have other motives in play. You've already sussed out something that lies at the heart of this mystery - stick with me! Next chapter will be up next weekend hopefully. Pxx
Response from braye27 (Reviewer)
I can't wait for the next update!!!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
It's coming!! It's coming!! :) Pxx
Well, that explains why Severus didn't answer the door for Hermione. Although, if he simply bucked up, and went to her room, then this whole mess could've been avoided. I'm glad he's finally realized he misunderstood Hermione's reluctance to be more open in their relationship. Of course, it seems that she's misunderstanding things herself. I think Theodore's up to something, and it definitely involves Draco.
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Agreed - and I think he's learning that lesson... but more intrigue and some confusing messages next time will cause Hermione to doubt everything. (o o) Pxx
Intriguing chapter - there seems to be a lot more plotting going on. And what's up with Severus dream?
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Mmmm, yes... wheels within wheels within wheels. This prompt is a real challenge - you will see when the story is completed. Thank you so much for taking the time to review this week, Dreamy! Pxx
It seems Narcissa has got over her infatuation quickly. Perhaps there is hope for her and Lucius yet? Also I want to give both Hermione and Severus a good kick right now for making all those assumptions about each other. And what are Draco and Nott up to?I'm enjoying this so much! Looking forward to the next chapter!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
It's nearly ready! I will be posting it next weekend. There are plots within plots (well, that's what I'm trying to achieve, anyway!). I must admit that Slytherins are interesting to write - less is definitely more!! I hope you liek the next chapter! Pxx
I love this delightfully awkward morning after, and I'm glad about the "this" between them.
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Thank you! There will be more twists and turns yet.... Pxx
Very intriguing start. I love the glance at the Malfoys here ,and do I spot the beginning of some scheming?
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Hi Dreamy - thank you! Scheming is important in this story. Everybody is at it!! Pxx
Where Hermione is concerned, Severus is just opening his mouth to change feet.
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Yup. I wanted him to be himself - and very inexperienced in the *whispers* 'relationship' word. He will learn -- I hope! Pxx
Boyfriend? The Horror! that's what the little snots have, and moon over, and pass notes to. Oh Severus, how the mighty have fallen.
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Aaaah, I know. Poor chap. But I think he can mess this up anyway....! *winks* Pxx
Stars and garters! I want to sit Hermione and Severus in front of a Pensieve, put their memories in it, and show them a rerun of all the things they've said to each other. And done with each other. It made me happy to see that Narcissa's and Lucius' broken marriage is not a fait accompli. Draco is a clever boy, indeed! Just how clever has yet to be determined, but one thing is certain—he will be the instigator of some riotous antics before Wimbledon is over. What is Severus going to do when he sees Theodore Nott with Hermione at the Champions' Ball? What was she thinking???? I just had a thought: is Theodore feeding all this information about Hermione and Severus to Draco because he wants Hermione? Who is Iago? I'm beginning to think there are more than one. Hee hee.Beth
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Dear Beth, *** **** *** **. *** *** ***, ***, *** *** ****** ** ****! The above response has been formally censored as it gives away far too many spoilers for the author's comfort, even though she wrote it. I will translate it back after the story ends. Pxx P.S. - great to hear from you again!
Response from braye27 (Reviewer)
LOL! I'll hold you to your promise to translate it back cuz my World War II surplus Enigma machine is on the blink.
"What is he up to? And why bloody Wimbledon, for goodness sakes?" Hummm... me thinks that Wimbledon has more to do with Lucius separating Narcissa and her Muggle tennis coach than in having an intended affect on the relationship between Severus and Hermione... except that Draco has been spearheading this charge. At least I think he has. Who is the real Iago? Does Draco fancy Hermione for himself? Will Severus get a hand on his focused efforts to woo Hermione without giving any outward appearance to their colleagues at Hogwarts? Will Severus really invite Nott to accompany him to the Champions' Ball? Will Hermione remember that she was the one who wanted to keep their relationship quiet? There are no end of possibilities, are there?Well done!!!Beth
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Hello Beth! Lovely to hear from you! Obviously (TM) I can't answer any of your questions in this response - although the next chapter might give you a few hints.... Don't underestimate a Slytherin's ambition. Just sayin'...(!) Pxx
Wonderful beginning! I laughed when reading that Narcissa ran off with the tennis pro. How utterly perfect.
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Thank you,
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
! More coming next w/e... Back to Hogwarts to see some staff reaction. Pxx
Oh, Severus, just relax! Thank you for a wonderful, amusing story. Lucius is not my favourite person but you nearly made me pity him. Thank you!
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
Thanks,
Response from Proulxes (Author of The Iago Complex)
! I'm really pleased you are enjoying it. Lucius is absolutely not my favourite character either - but HBAR fancied a Malfoy sandwich and who am I to deny her...? Snerk. Pxx
