Welcome to my world of (largely) erotic exploration of the human condition. (Well, that's one way of putting it anyway ...)
My writing is largely rated NC-17 and, as you will see, contains a lot of explicit detail. But I cannot write without developing believable characters, largely in canon (at least as a starting point), whose behaviour is established through dialogue and tangible situations. I adore these characters and tend to write from the inside out, getting inside their heads and simply letting them talk (and act ...). Yes, there is a lot of sex, but I hope my characters' sexuality enables them, and us, to discover deeper aspects of their personalities.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FRIEND ME ON LJ WHERE MY USERNAME IS LAURIELOVER1912. YOU CAN ALSO FIND ME ON FACEBOOK (LAURIELOVE).
My favourite pairings are Hermione/Lucius and Hermione/Severus, but I have written for various other couples and situations.
I have recently started writing original works which have, fortunately, been picked up by publishers. If you are interested in my original work, my penname is Demelza Hart.
I love establishing a dialogue with my readers. Please feel free to contact me with comments, suggestions, criticism, anything. I look forward to hearing from you!
In the meantime ... enjoy!

Reviews for Out of the Depths
Well. Ahem. Right-o. *tugs at collar* yeah. uh-huh.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
I know. Very naughty. He was clearly having issues there, but she seems to be able to go along with it. x
Would love to see her do something similar to him, to establish she has power in the relationship as well. :)
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Hang in there ... just such a chapter coming up very soon (although not in the next one as such!) x
It looks like things are back to normal, well normal for them. These two need to work out their power struggles, they both have control issues ;)Great chapter
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Severus certainly was confused about his need for control here, but in a strange way he probably thought he was pleasing her. And, you know, he was. She understands. More now, at last! x
That was rather intense.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
I know. He is far from complete yet, but I think Hermione knows how to balance things to keep him ticking along. Thank god for that. x Next chapter up at last. Sorry for the wait. x
Hm...I sense a control issue here....That may have been hot in a way, but it was so wrong that I have to ask, what were they thinking? Or were they even thinking at all?
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
As I said to someone else before, I think Severus was confused by her behaviour on the Sunday and his immature emotional outlook necessitated him to try to exact some weird sort of power/revenge thing. But equally, he thought perhaps he was doing something that would please her, and strangely enough, it sort of worked. Next chapter up at last. x
I guess things are on their way to being back to normal between Severus and Hermione, although it's hard to tell. I understand he was punishing her for the other day, but does this mean he accepts her apology? Will he ask her to return to being his assistant, or will his pride not allow that?
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
I think Severus was thrown by her behaviour the previous day and when things confuse him he does not have the emotional depth to respond appropriately. He did something that he felt compelled to do for his own sense of control and also vaguely thought would please her. In a weird way, it worked. x
Ooh saucy. Sev really knows how to hold a grudge! Good work girly.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Thank you! Next chapter up at last. x
creepy
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Well ... he needed to exert his control again, and although Hermione probably didn't approve as such, she knew he needed that and humoured him. He still has a long way to go. In his weird way, he thought he was pleasing her, and, as it turned out, he was. x
I think that the mere idea that Severus would use the spectre of a dead boy to come to see Hermione squicks her out, really. I know it would me! I would think she's probably torn because it's not like he used the 'essence' for a noble reason, or a respectful reason; but just for his entertainment and pleasure. Sure, it's nice to be wanted, but... !
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Yes, she was a little squicked out ... we all need time to ourselves sometimes, but ... she can't bear to be away from him. What next, I wonder? x
wow. I hope they get it worked out. Hermione is actually being quite mature, I think. Severus, though, is probably sorting through things most people deal with when they're 17 and then on top of it the complication of all the things in his past to worry him. Poor Severus. I think Hermione can deal with things, she has friends and that helps. Snape has had so little support for so many years.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Absolutely. Hermione is the teacher here, Severus the student. x
Severus, such the tormented soul. Never fully emotionally maturing beyond the time he took the dark mark. He was never fully his own person. In retrospect, that makes him rather fragile. He is also so raw, and potent. I love the way you've written him. It seems as though part of him is experiencing 19 right along with Hermione. Pleasure: impulse reaction. As always my friend, thank you for sharing~

You've summed him up so beautifully. I hope you will appreciate the next chapter. It is a tricky one, some may disagree with it, but I think it reflects his deep uncertainty, his passion, his need to please in his own strange way and Hermione's ability to tolerate and lead him through that. Plus, it's quite hot!! And it's up now! xx
You can see who the mature one is in this relationship! :0
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Exactly! As I said in response to a review below, yes, this is a student/teacher relationship, just not quite in the way people think.
Well, somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed! There is a lot of extreme feelings and emotional upheaval in this chapter. All of it is realistic and normal, especially given their unique situation. In the grand scheme of things, taking the blood of that boy for potions use is not really that big of a deal. It's not like he killed him to get it. Still, I would be a little freaked out, just like Hermione was. It was such a contrast to the softer side of himself he was beginning to reveal. It must be very difficult for Hermione to listen to her classmates carry on about her and Lawrence or the mystery boy she's been with. A teenage girl needs to be able to discuss boy issue with her friends, and she has no outlet for such talk. I'm sort of hoping that Ginny figures it out, but is cool with it so she at least has one confidant. She was right to stand her ground in his room, and just say what she needed to and be done. But you do have to have some sympathy for Severus and his feelings. I would suspect that he spends lots of time wondering when the other shoe is going to drop, and she will move on to better things.I have no doubt they can work through this, but am concerned about getting from here to there. Can't wait to see what is next!
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
When it's these two, things are never going to be simple. And it just gets a little more complicated in the next chapter, still, as long as they are both able to accept and adapt, that is fine. x
I really enjoyed this chapter. The human condition is certainly something difficult to capture within the individuality and interpretation of each character, and in a believable way. You tie the package together very well. Severus is such a hotheaded butt. So brilliant and poignant but emotionally stunted. He's not even at the level of a sixteen year old in some ways emotionally, more like a three year old. He reminds me a lot of Sirius without pitching a public fit, but still hurting those closest to him for wont of anything better to do and with very low, or non existant self esteem. It is such a typical thing to see "grown" men act out in this way, in that they were damaged as children and unable to cope with certain aspects of life in any other way than they know how which is to be possessive and controlling while being desirous to be magnanimous and whorshipped. Very classic abuser potential here. I am very glad Hermione recognizes the red flags and has stood her ground. It is all too easy for a seventeen year old to get wrapped up in the romance and danger of dating an older man and taking him as her lover. I think only their combined brilliance and quirks for needing alone time to think will enable them to continue their relationship. Passion is a wonderful thing but will combust in a blaze of glory if not maintained, much like some of the volatile potions Snape concocts. You've done very well with keeping these two on the edge without knocking them into obscurity. Can't wait for the next update!

Thank you for your very detailed comments. I think you have summed up a lot of this story. It is a student/teacher relationship - but who exactly is the student and who the teacher? That is one of the reasons I wanted to set it while she is technically his pupil - it highlights how much he has to learn. And that's a lot.More complications to come.xxx
I think Severus needs to be just a bit more understanding that Hermione may need a bit of time to come to grips with her feelings for him. They are both new to this type of relationship, and Hermioe is still so young. I think after Severus has some time to cool off, he'll understand things better, ad realize what Hermionew as trying to tell him. He doesn't understand that things are difficult for her, because she loves him, but can't be open about her feelings since he'ss till her teacher.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Oops - duplicated, never mind! x

Severus knows these things in his heart, he just doesn't have the emotional experience to appreciate them properly and expects others to behave as he does. Thanks for the review. x
I totally understand why Hermione needs some space, I hope Severus comes to understand why she needs this time alone.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
I think he will eventually, but it may be tricky for him to reconcile it properly, as you will see in the next chapter. x
God, I love how you write Severus. It's so, SO very canon, for him to behave this way in a relationship(in my opinion). Like his body and mind matured, but his emotions have been held in stasis since he was a teen, never evolving. Bravo!
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
That means so much to me. Thank you so much! I wonder if you'll still think he's canon after the next chapter! (hides behind hands) - I do, but ... it is a complex one. x
I love this story...Severus is perfect in this!
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Thank you so much!! A complex man indeed - as you will see in the next chapter. x
What an intriguing story. I am surprised at what they are able to conceal. Oh and has anyone thought of contraceptive charms or will their haste be part of the story?
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
I think I mentioned Hermione's contraception charm earlier on, but you are right, I should mention it again. No, she is a competent and sensible mature woman - she isn't going to make any mistakes. And yes, they get away with a lot - at the moment at least! Thanks for reading and reviewing. x
Wow. That is an outrageously beautiful chapter. The connection between them is so strong, it feels so real, it almost makes me forget that it's fanfiction and that I prefer Lucius. ROTFLMAOSeriously. Seriously beautiful.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
I can't tell you how much it means to hear that from you - you whose allegiances lie ... elsewhere ...LoveLLxxxxxfor not showing me complete devotion at all times, but we'll let you off the hook for this review!
Response from apkblack (Reviewer)
Oh, give me a break, Snape. You know you love Lucius, too. LOL
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Steady on!!! You know my feelings on slash!
Response from apkblack (Reviewer)
Now, let's all just calm down, shall we? You know as well as I do I meant brotherly love. Slytherin bonding and all that. After all, just because David and Jonathan loved each other, doesn't mean there was slash in the Bible ... or does it?
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Right! Enough of this! I'm stopping this thread because it's too silly! Just too silly! We can't have all this silliness going on! Stop being silly at once or I shall have to report you to the silly police, do you hear!?(Assuming you know Monty Python, if not, ask)
Response from apkblack (Reviewer)
Look here, now, it sounds to me like you're looking for an argument. In which case ... you've come to the right place.nudgenudgeknowwhatImeansaynomore....;)
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Can you get any better?xxx
Boy, Ginny doesn't miss much, does she? Maybe it would be best if Hermione came clean. Time will tell I suppose.I like that he is so blase about the fact that he creates his own versions of already existing magic. That is a seriously powerful wizard our girl has snagged. Surely he will share his knowledge with her, if not the population at large, eventually. What fun little secrets those two could have between them.Him coming to her room was such a pleasant surprise. I am quite intrigued by the conversation that takes place at the end of the chapter. What did happen during her visit with him in the mortuary? If it were anyone else, I would be disappointed to hear them say they felt just "content". But this is Severus Snape we are talking about, and if she has made him feel content, well, she must be a pretty powerful witch in her own right. Very anxious to see what's next. I am desperate for more explanation, more hotness, more romance, more whatever you want to give us. Just... more please.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Plenty more on its way, don't worry ...A powerful wizard indeed ... remember, Severus was always very possessive of his magic. When Harry used 'Sectumsempra' on him he taunted and berated him - "You dare use my own magic on me, Potter?" (or words to that effect, I can't remember exactly)What did indeed happen in the mortuary? ...So glad you are enjoying it. LL xxx
It has been interesting watching the characters develope and watching the story unfold and I can't wait to see where it is going. Beautiful chapter update.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Thank you! More complexity to come. xx
Ooh, so many unanswered questions! Why does he keep his magic so secret? Why won't he share even with Hermione? Why did he get a chance to come back, how? Just love love love this story! Every time I think it's going smoothly, it morphs into another mystery - it's so cool!
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Thank you so much. Yes, a few questions. The possessiveness of the magic is really only Severus' feeling of intellectual superiority, although you're right - he should share with Hermione. As for how he came back ... that indeed is interesting. More now. x
Awwww, I love their little outing, they both seem so relaxed. I hope they are able to find a way to be together like this everyday. This is a wondeful story, very well written.
Response from laurielove (Author of Out of the Depths)
Thank you so much. It is always good to get away - test their relationship outside the environment which both nurtures and suffocates them. x
