Life does not always turn out the way we want it to. Ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Severus Snape, thought by everyone to be dead, is living out his days in solitude on the edge of the wizarding world. Ginny Potter, meanwhile, is juggling a high-profile career, three small children, a Kneazle and a workaholic husband. A family crisis within the Potter household unwittingly brings Snape out of hiding and his and Ginny's lives are changed forever, with both of them ultimately offered a second chance for happiness. This story is mostly canon compliant but discounts the epilogue in Deathly Hallows.

*blushes*
He's going to make the worst decision in his life, isn't he! :0
Response from star_girl (Author of A Second Chance For Happiness)
Well, that would telling!
He's resolutely remaining disaffected, but it won't last... ;)

Poor Harry. He has been too wrapped up in his job and his own self-esteem issues, but communication is a two way thing. However, they are both seeing each other more as friends than as lovers, so there's little to revive now except maybe an attempt to remain friends for the sake of the kids.

Seeing a relationship unravel is never a happy thing, from either side.
'Tis human nature to seek someone to blame in dire situations.
Response from star_girl (Author of A Second Chance For Happiness)
It is indeed. And what a dire situation.
This is wonderful. So glad to see it updated (several times, actually, since I last noticed). It's a pairing I would never have considered, but given the Lily connection, and its very superficiality, it really works. I love the way you are handling it, pointing up the class insecurity that would clearly have been a factor with Lily and isn't with Ginny. I also like it that you've made Harry's view of this comprehensible and sympathetic, too. He's a bit oblivious, but it really isn't his fault, as even Ginny understands. And Severus's bewilderment and compassion are beautifully drawn. Thanks

It's always humbling to get such a thoughful, considered and amazingly complimentary review. All I can do is offer my sincerest gratitude to you for reading and for taking the time to review. I can only hope you'll enjoy the remainder of the story as much.
Oh, no! Not Al. :0

Aha, so that's where the swine flu came from! :)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Second Chance For Happiness)
Well, it was so out of the blue wasn't it? :)
Lovely scene of them all enjoying their dinner together. A wee snippet of life with the foreshadowing of things to come later in bed. :)

He takes an inordinate interest in Ginny's activities... ;)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Second Chance For Happiness)
It's no wonder, really. She is totally his type ;)
Sounds very familiar! :)

Modern life I suppose!
I like the way you had Minerva save him and without being psychically pre-preared with just the right potions. Makes a change!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Second Chance For Happiness)
Thank you! Couldn't just let him bleed to death, could I? :)
This is both a sad and happy chapter. Divorce is never a good thing, but in this case, it suits all three adults involved, so there is no reason to make them all miserable if there is a chance they can all be happy. The confession to Severus was not nearly as bad as expected, but I am pleased about that. I just hope that the court is kind to them.
