Reviews for Caramel
[gasp] That's it? Oh, Severus!! Wow, you are one brave writer to end a story there. I'm just relieved that you're promising a sequel. [prays to the gods that we won't have to wait long]You really are amazing. I rarely read WiPs, since I'm the impatient kind, wanting to gobble up a story all at once, not able to stand the wait between chapters. But this one drew me right in, plus, with every update, I felt as if I hadn't been away long, it was that easy to come right back into the Caramel story mode. Says a lot about your abilities as an author, that does.I'm glad you love this fandom. I do, too. It really IS like a party all the time.Anyway, great job--what and ending! [whew, still in shock] That Albus, meddling old.... Can't wait to read more from you!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks so much, really and really. I am so pleased and honored you have stayed with me through the story. And that you like it! Heartbreaking ending and all. I will see you (soon, I hope) in Sequel Land.
Oh. my. goodness. Well. You dug yourself a hole now, didn't you, corianderpie.... hmm, yes. Quite. Good going. How are you going to get yourself out of this one? With only one chapter left!?! Oi. My suspicions are being confirmed.... this can't end well. Four o'clock? More like SEE YOU NEVER AGAIN O'CLOCK. Ruin your life forever o'clock! NEVER TO LOVE ME AGAIN o'clock. Yes.Oh. I'm sad. And then sad again. But I hope somewhere in your mind there's a wee little bitty part that wants a happy ending... somewhere. Sometime. sigh.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Not getting out. Nope. Not anytime soon. Sitting in the hole, in the dark, crying. But somewhere, sometime? Sure! I am ON IT!
AH-HA!!! So I wasn't being paranoid for nothing! I KNEW IT!! I told you that I knew it! And look! Here it is! ARG! Lavender! So. I see I have two chapters left... and I have the feeling... that I'm not going to particularly like how it ends (more so because I like happy endings). Unless you just threw all of it to the wind and were like, "F it! *jumps ten years in the future* and after fighting voldemort and running away together they got married and had a bunch of kids." LOL! But that doesn't seem like something you'd do. You research everything really well and I don't think you'd be able to do that to the characters. Oh boy. I guess I need to start preparing myself. And like I said before, don't be too worried if I avoid you for awhile. I really love your writing style and your story lines and am really interested in reading through your other stories you posted. I mean.... you can't have all your stories end sadly, can you? Or are you that mean? You're not, are you?! ARE YOU!? Say it isn't so!!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
You did! You knew it and you said it. :D Lavender has some serious boundary issues. And, well. Yeah. I like happy endings too. But they do have to be possible sorts of endings or else I hate them. A lying happy ending is so yucky. Most of my stories (the few there are so far) end happily enough, though. *smiles at you*
Oh gods. So I have bad feelings about these letters. THANK GOD Jill got that letter and it didn't fall into Lavender's hands by accident. BUT what if Lavendar has been intercepting!? WHAT IF SHE KNOWS THIS JILL PERSON!? OI!!! HERMIONE!!! YOU STUPID GIRL!! So, yes, I may be paranoid out of my skin but GEE!! I can't help but be, "aaaaaaaaand now Lavender will pop out and be all like 'HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I GOT YOU NOW, HERMIONE!!!'... no? okay aaaaaaaaaaand now!" Soooo.... prickly over here! Iiee! LOL!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Prescient reader is prescient? Or just paranoid? Good old Lav--the author's friend, she is. Nothing like a loose cannon to liven things up. ;P
Snape "plotting"... squeal! Even the raunchy parts are really beautifully written. So, yes, I still enjoy the story this far in and since I am so far in... I can't stop. And I feel like I will be sad when I finish because it'll be all over... unless you end on a sad point and then I'll probably be crushed. And avoid you for awhile. But like a moth to a flame, I'll be back to read the rest of your stories. So I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Yay, thanks for the kind words. And, um, yeah. *shifts eyes shiftily* About that ending... er...
This is such a beautiful story with characters that are just so real and genuine. I am left aching at the end, but I really hope to read a sequel one of these days. I am sure it will be equally fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing your creativity!!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you so much! I am happy to have given you pleasure with this story--I've sure loved writing it. :D
Well done. That ending was very realistic. That's how they deal with troublesome revelations in the wizarding world. It must have broken Sev's heart to do it and Hermione may have some expaining to do if she takes up with some new beau in between times and realises that she has lost her virginity. But hell...what a good memory to have given back to you. This has been an excellent story, beautifully crafted and written and I can't wait for those robes to start billowing again as we are treated to the sequel. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oops! I seem to have lost my virginity! Now, where did I put it? :D Thank you for your kind words--it's always a treat to read your reviews. I'll see you again around sequel time, i hope. ((hugs))
Wow, the tea! First reaction to this being the end was 'no!' But, I see the logic, as the four phials present innumarate scenarios for how she regains her memory, and if he's in the future with her. This ending is so ambiguous and the reader can make it what they will, as it's quite unassuming.Well done! I look forward to reading the sequel. :)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
O noes the tea! Such a sad and lonely place for him to be in. :( I look forward to writing the sequel. :P I have many many ideas for it. Thanks so much for reading along and lending your support as the story unfolded. ((hugs))
I *really* shouldn't have read this last chapter during my break at work---had to hide my red eyes for a little bit by taking a walk around the campus. I have loved this story from the very beginning and now I will be watching anxiously for a sequel. (And I have to agree with you - the point at which you ended your first fic is perfect, albeit devastating). So please remember that you've promised us all more.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
((hugs you)) Sorry to give you a big sad--I've been struggling with it myself. I am very touched you enjoyed and were affected by the story: it's a huge, huge compliment, so thank you for telling me, and for sticking with the story. *smiles at you*
I loved your story. Please, Please, Please write the sequel. The thought of Severus all alone knowing what he could have had, makes my heart hurt!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Me too! :( I will try to write a worthy sequel. Thanks for the love. ((hugs))
ooh very nice. She's definitely getting her own back now. Fair is fair.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
That's what I think! ;P
Oooh. I don't like Lavender. She should go stuff it somewhere and keep it all to herself so she doesn't go and ruin things! Because things are just going to go south from here. Sad face. Why must she meddle?! I'm anxious to read on now. If you were to tell me that she'd suddenly disappear... that would be awesome! But no such luck, is there?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
No, no such luck. She doesn't know quite what trouble she's causing, but cause it she does. :(
ooh very nice. She's definitely getting her own back now. Fair is fair.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
:D
Congratulations on finishing your story. I enjoyed it immensely. Your Dumbledore in particular was right on target. Can't wait to read the sequel! Thank you.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank YOU for reading! ((hugs))
I think you ended the story at the right place - especially if you are writing a sequel. I really enjoyed the story. I didn't expect the ending but I think it made it better and It has whet my palate for the sequel. I hope we see something soon? Do you pimp stories on WIKTT? I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed it. When I start posting the sequel (probably not for a few months), I'll pimp it on WIKTT. Thanks again. :D
Oh, I'm glad out of all the stories I favorited to look through later, I picked this one. It's interesting and unique. The descriptive language is absolutely beautiful. I actually squealed when I read "He felt the first tendrils of a headache curling behind his eyes." How do you do that? That is just amazing. It literally takes my breath away.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Aw, thank you! I am so glad you picked my story, too, and that you are enjoying it. I hope you continue to enjoy it. :D
Brilliant! Beginning to end, flat out brilliant. This being said, I loathe you. I hate to start fics that are unfinished, so when I first saw "Caramel", I thought, hey, this looks interesting...but I'll wait until it is done, and then read it through. So then it was done. And then I sat down and read it straight through. And it was excellent. And now my butt hurts from sitting at my computer for over 5 hours, and Dumblefore is a selfish prick (per usual) and poor Severus is screwed without getting screwed!! Now go write the f*cking sequel, or I will hunt you down like a dog. Thanks for the fic, BTW. It was quite delicious. GO. WRITE.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Er, yes, sir, ma'am, sir! Thanks for the love, sorry about your butt. :P I'm glad you liked the story. I think. *g*
OMG, I never saw that ending coming. It makes sense in some ways but I'm stil not crazy about it. I will miss this fic, I have enjoyed it so much, and I will certainly be looking for the sequel.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Definitely not a happy ending, by any stretch of the imagination. Just believe I have a lot of good reasons for stopping here and now, and "torturing the readers" is not on the list. Thanks for sticking with the story; I am glad it gave you enjoyment. ((hugs))
I can't believe he would poison her like that. I understand he thinks he's doing what's best because of Albus, but I don't think she'll be so quick to forgive him once he gives her the antidote. To her, he has betrayed her. Besides, what would happen if she decides to have a relationship with someone else? Where would Severus be then, especially if she decides to stay with that other person once her memories are back? I hope you start writing the sequel soon, because this is just too much.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Exactly and exactly. The questions you ask are excellent fuel for... a sequel!!Thanks for reading and reviewing; I know it was a painful place to stop.
I am in shock. That was a turbulent ending--but you are right--it is a good place to end it. And if you are keeping at all within cannon, it could not have ended any other way, really! The slow build up of their attraction throughout this story and the culmination of their relationship was so well done. I enjoyed your story very much. I will look for the sequel.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, even with the shock and pain and nononono of the ending. And this was always intended to be a canon compliant story. Couldn't think of a good/graceful way to go AU in the middle. So--sequel. :D
Response from orm irian (Reviewer)
What ever happened to the promised sequel? Is it still in the works or should I forget about it?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Still in the works. I'm on chapter 3. No idea when I'll be ready to start posting--need a good chunk of chapters in the can and some momentum. So--yes, it's happening but in its own time. Thanks for asking.
Wow, I didn't see the end coming. I can't wait for the sequel. I can understand your reasoning for ending it here. This was an awesome story. Thank you for writing it and putting yourself out there.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank YOU,
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
, for reading along and leaving me reviews. I really appreciate it. ((hugs))
I knew you were going to do this, and I know it had to be, but oh! it hurts!!!I had hoped maybe Hermione would "see it coming" and do a little "hiding" of her own memories in a little phial, with a note to herself to look at or put back into her mind at some future date. The 4-vials-of-antidote solution is wonderful, but now I"m all worried that she won't find one until it's too late!!! (moan of frustration)My only request is that you do start that sequel as quickly as you can, and please trumpet it to the heavens when you do, so I won't miss it. I seem to remember you saying it might be a while before you could get to it because of a lot of RL stuff. I know how that is. I just trust you not to leave it too long--we'll all be waiting here for you when you come back!By the way, do you know yet what the title of the sequel will be, so I can be watching for it?Thank you again for a wonderful tale!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I was worried about you with this ending. Not what you wanted, I know. It is very painful to see him make this choice. Thanks for understanding why it had to be.The sequel (which does not have a name yet) is in the planning stages. I haven't started writing it yet, but I'm thinking about it a lot, which is a good sign. I will be posting it here, of course.(hugs)
Response from countrymouse (Reviewer)
The saddest line of all to me was this:"‘I’ll never forget it. Never. I might be a coward and a villain but I’ll always be yours. I’ll come for you. After, I’ll come."But...WILL he be able to come? Will there be an "after" for them? What about the Shrieking Shack???I'll hang on, and trust you to, as you promised, "make it all better" in the end.In the meantime, I leave you with this. It is singularly fitting for the end of this chapter:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBn0LN1A8AE
Wow. Just wow. Yes, this was a very emotionally-charged and perfect place to end this story. While it makes it very sad and angsty, this could stand alone if need be just as it is. I understand why Severus did what he did, especially when he has the shadow of Dumbledore looming over him...the Headmaster's solution probably wouldn't be one which had an antidote of any kind, so Severus is insuring that he's left himself some hope for the future.I am thrilled and relieved that you don't plan on stopping things here, and that we have a sequel to look forward to in the future! Rest assured that once it begins, it will immediately go on my Favorites list and I'm jumping along for the ride. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you, indigo rose. You've been a great and loyal reader. I really needed the story to end dramatically, not dribble on and on (first story--was I going to be able to finish it? I didn't really know!). This is the story of how they found and lost each other, so here it ends. What comes after... we will see. :D
Oh god, that was so incredibly sad! I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face... sigh. I am so happy that you plan to write a sequel. Do you plan on starting immediately or waiting a while? In either case, thank you for such a wonderful story. Happy writing, corianderpie.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Is it wrong that I'm a little proud I made you cry? Not happy about it, but just a little bit proud. Thank you for reading it, and for sharing your thoughts and feelings about it. This ending has made me incredibly sad too (did you notice how slowly I've been posting lately? this ending was not something for me to look forward to with glee...). Thanks for the good wishes. The sequel, when it comes, will be posted here.
I don't think words can describe the exact combination of devastated by the loss of Hermione's memory, how much I loved the way the chapter was written, how sad I am that this story is finished, and in such a horrible way, but how hopeful there's a sequel to be written :)I really do love this fic, and I can't wait to see how the plot will develop in a entirely new story.. and I also hope I won't have to wait too long ;) Thank you so much for posting.. <3 xxx
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I feel a really strong mix of emotions too: sadness (even though I knew this was coming, I kept trying to think of ways to soften it...), relief, pride at being done, excitement about the next one...Thanks for sending me the love.
