Reviews for Darkness Within
Will Hermione allow Severus to enter her mind? It is probably the only way he will be able to gain a true picture of what has happened to send her down this road she has traveled. And you will update.... when? As soon as possible, you say? Excellent!Beth
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
ahh yes, the elusive updates... well, from what i have seen recently the queue is a long one and that's why you have to wait. The story is actually finished.. which means that I know what happens!
Relapse is very common to someone who is addicted to... well, anything. Perhaps she will feel enough remorse when she "comes to" that she will want to try again.Severus truly has his work cut out for him.Beth
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
I think he knows how hard it will be, but I think he feels hermione is worth it!
Response from braye27 (Reviewer)
I couldn't agree more! He luvs her!
At least Hermione is feeling strong enough to eat and go out to shop a little. And she now appears ready to hear the truth about what had happened the night Severus saved her from herself. This has been a very touching conversation they have been sharing, and I must go to the next chapter to see how it continues. Well done!Beth

Thank you so much for your comments - I planned the story to be an emotional roller coaster. I think you're on the first incline....
Hermine has really lost her center, her ability to cope, and now she uses self-inflicted injury/pain to divert her attention from the anguish she feels.Severus is dealing with his own feelings of not having done enough. It's all very sad, but perhaps together they can find a way to lay to rest the ghosts from the past and secure a future that will be better tolerated than their present seems to be.This is a very moving chapter!Beth

Thank you for your lovely comments - I am so happy you're reading and enjoying it!
Nasty Nasty cliffies! Lol. What a picture it would be to see them like that together though. Great story.

Thank you so much :)
Aw crap! You and your blasted clffies!!! *tears out hair whilst grinding teeth* (Translated: What a wonderful story, I can't wait for the next bit.) How sad, and how brave of Severus to want to help her. It takes an incredibly strong person to help a recovering addict, but I'm sure he's equal to the job.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Bless you! I didn't plan the cliffies, it just worked out that way - Honest... *bwhahahah* (evil laugh...)
It's really hard to see her like this. Unfortunately, you can't trust an alcoholic. Severus just learned a valuable lesson.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
You're right. And alcoholic's can't trust themselves, sadly. Thanks for reveiwing.
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Isn't that the truth. It's sad that by the time someone is at this stage, they have no real control over their life. Hermione's whiskey bottle calls the shots for her now. I appreciate your realistic way of portraying this. It's not something that just goes away overnight.
Oh dear she is a troubled girl. I do hope Severus can help her find her way back, and maybe he will find a new path too? But I think he needs to know what got her into this mess (we need to know too). Look forward to more, love the suspense.

lol... the suspense is caused by the queue, not by me. The story is completed, just need to wait patiently along with everyone else... Thanks for reveiwing.
Now isn't she stupid? For drinking again, of course, but also for thinking that her wards can hold one Severus Snape out for long. If she truly didn't want him to come in she would have done something more drastic.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Either that or she was so focussed on drinking she didn't think through her shaky plan! Thanks for taking the time to comment, it's very much appreciated!
Very sad. When the best and brightest fall, it is sadder than anything else.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Yes, I think you're right. But perhaps that's because they have the furthest distance to fall?
Silly, silly girl!
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Silly... or troubled? Thanks for reading.
She did exactly what he expected and he still fell for it. Well, that's a big tumble off the wagon!
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can start to climb upwards... thanks for reading.
He is handling this situation very well considering. I am amazed at his patience, yet you still have 'old Snape' show through enough to keep him believable.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Thank you so much. I am glad you like my Severus. he is a little OCC but that's just the way I like him.
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
Not too much OCC - he's Severus without the burden of being a spy. You have enough ol' Snape in him coming through to show he's just him without the mask.
Ah gosh, a slasher! Is she under the effects of a curse? It really seems like she is.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Ah well, that would spoil the story a little really. Good theory though.
I think you handled the gore rather delicately while still getting the point across as to it's horrible ordeal that it was - Death Eater extreme. It's terrible that her parents died and didn't even know her. How traggic.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Thank you very much. I am very pleased with the way this has been received, it's so gratifying.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
I am a little confused... I haven't posted the chapter about her parents as yet, have I? Have you been reading on Ashwinder? I panicked and thought I had posted the wrong chapter!
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
actually I think I did read this on Ashwinder... at work, (copied on my thunbdrive.) I think I'm ahead of myself. Sorry
This is one of the meatiest stories I've seen in awhile. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Gosh, thank you so much! I am so happy you are enjoying it.
Oh dear lord, worse than I thought! Total alcoholic... and why the hell did Severus let his guard down? Oh, the suspense is killing me... what HAPPENED to her????
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Thank you for your somment. I guess he let his guard down because he trusted her.
It's nice to see her somewhat like herself. It's interesting that she's not bitter, nor defensive about her actions. She just frankly says that she's behaved badly. I suppose that's a start.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
I think when you see why she has been badly behaved you will understand her attitude. Thanks for reveiwing!
This has been so good that I haven't stopped to leave a review. But I'm remedying that now. I can't wait to hear her story. She seems reluctant to share it. It's nice to see Severus caring what happens to her. Maybe he sees a bit of himself in her destructive behavior.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
I think perhaps he does. But he also feels immense guilt that he didn't stop it before it got this far. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
oh, rats! we have to wait, i hate to wait. great update. thanks so much
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
I hate waiting too, but with so many brilliant writers here and so many excellent stories, it's only fair we wait our turn! Thanks for reveiwing.
Right that's it your a MEANIE! Only joking, promise. I like it. Look forward to the outcome.

Ha.... You will have to be patient love. Thanks for reveiwing!
She is getting some of her spark back. :)
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
That's because she's sober! Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
Oh, stop stalling! Tell us what happened, you evil authoress you. The suspense is killing me!Great chapter, though.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Bwahahahahaha.... you will really hate me over the next couple of chapters then. *ducking*.... You wont find out the truth for a little while yet, but the suspense is good, right? Thanks for your review.
Her reactions to being cared for are promising. Cliffies are the devil!!! (to be read as a compliment)They are each assuring that they don't share an attraction - it seems like a bit of denial. Though I respect your decision to keep them apart until she's recovered. You can't give to someone else while you're still a huge mess.
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Exactly - it would be a disaster... and Severus would be very aware that she has been damaged. It gets worse too... Keep reading, and thank you for taking the time to review!
He is very supportive. Is there a reason?
Response from neelix (Author of Darkness Within)
Yes. He feels guilty that he let it go as far as he did. If he had intervened earlier, Hermione wouldn't have been in such a dangerous situation. And... he cares about her. Thanks for reveiwing!
