Reviews for The Devil's Game
I love how concerned Lucius and other housemates are regarding Hecate's symptoms that continue to bother her so long after her supposed attack from the Cruciatus Curse, and how Lucius is helping her to keep the results of the finding of potions ingredients not anticipated from Molly and such.~*~*~I'm glad that Remus is a good enough friend to try to help out Heck (Hecate/Hermione) and Score (Scorpius) to stay close and keep in contact. I got the chuckles from reading the following quote that Remus made to the two...'“I suggest changing hands of it during Potions, since you two already sit in that class. By the way, we all get to see everything you write, not just Scorpius or myself or Hecate,” Remus said, his tone teasing. “So no incest-ridden love-notes, you two!”'~*~*~I thought that it was brilliant how Heck blew everyone away with the vastness of her knowledge in D.A.D.A. study group and that she had to go into the seventh years' group in order to be challenged. It was also interesting to learn that if knowledge of her abilities/intelligence were to get out, she would have the boys/men of Slytherin's daddies lining up to get her to marry their sons--too funny/cool!I thought that it was yummy when ...'Lucius regarded me curiously for a moment. “Do you even remember when is a proper moment for a kiss?”I stared at him, aghast. I read through all of my internal libraries. “Er… no, not really… Not even courtship things, though I know the definition of a courtship.”Lucius smiled softly. “Then we gentlemen will be certain to remind you, when you are old enough. Slytherins do not date until fifth-year. It is tradition.”I nodded slowly....That night, Lucius kissed me on the cheek before I went to bed. His lips were warm and soft, and the gesture alone made me blush.'~*~*~Well done--keep up the good work!☺

=) LOL, I really love the relationship that Heck built with Lucius. He's really good at being charming and considerate. Makes you wonder what changed, huh? Thanks!
Poor Scorpius not feeling comfortable in Slytherin--how sad.:C It was so sweet of Lucius to have come to Hecate/Hermione to help soothe her during her sadness that her brother would no longer be in Slytherin House with her.
I like how Hecate/Hermione is being given more reasons to want to champion Severus...
1) his unfair treatment from The Marauders;2) Lily's complete obliviousness to the fact that she will be the one to break Severus' heart;3) his self-imposed alienation from the rest of his house mates;etc.Well done--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
If Heck hadn't hit it off with Lucius, they both would have been Gryfs. But the trouble with that is that Luc is the one they're trying to change! lol As for Sev... she'll figure him out. =) Thanks!
Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, I like the idea of a sexy Draco wishing to have been able to date Hermione and then laying a passionate kiss on her.
Hmm, interesting bathroom concept... I guess it helps the girls to get more confidence and be less shy, huh?
Poor Hermione to have to slog her way through painful table etiquette lessons.
Hmm, I like how informative the dreams have been with the people that Hermione/Hecate knew in her previous timeline(s).
Well done--keep up the good work!
☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
That's the idea, for the baths. I love table manners when they're inflicted on others. Such fun. =)Thanks!
Holy cow! Scorpius turned down Gryffindor... was it to stay near his sister? (If so, how sweet of him.) OR does he have some vague recollection that they (himself and Hermione/Hecate) are supposed to work on helping Lucius to change his perception of muggles, muggleborns, half-bloods and squibs too?~*~*~'“Precisely,” Lucius said, nodding. “I, for example, have a bucket of water dumped on my head.” He gave a toothy grin, but did not elaborate. “Are you wet in the morning, then?” I asked. Lucius just grinned wider. “Are you?”'*::fans face::*Oh my! Who's the dirty boy then? Wicked, naughty, sexy beast boy Lucius.;~D ~*~*~Well done--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Heee, I forgot all about that particular joke. I love my Luc. Thank you~!
I like how Hermione/Hecate was treated so nicely by Lucius and his friends on the train ride.
I can see why Hermione/Hecate would be put off by the Ravenclaw-wanna-be/Hufflepuff-at-heart, and with the Sorting Hat only giving her the two choices of Ravenclaw and Slytherin... it is no wonder that she chose Slytherin.Awwwww, you E-vile cliffhanging writing author-type person you... for shame! LOL:P Well done--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
lol I try not to leave evil cliffies too much, but this one I just could not help! =) Thanks!
Mmm, oh my, Lucius is quite the charmer.;~D
It was very clever of Hermione/Hecate to change the title of her book Moste Potente Potions into Potions of Our Age to avoid any complications and arguments with Molly.Poor Severus to have such a controlling mother and not allowed to speak in public.Well done--keep up the good work.☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
He has to be! lol, I love my Luc. =) I view Eileen as a very controlling person toward Sev only because she's trying to protect him. Thank you for all the compliments!
I'm glad that Hermione/Hecate and Scorpius are getting along with Remus.I find it rather interesting that Hermione/Hecate doesn't like James and Sirius... that would make it easier for later when she hits it off with Severus--cool!Well done--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I'm trying very hard to see exactly how a person like Hermione, but Obliviated, would view people around her. I don't think she would like the frivilous, almost dangerous, way that James and Sirius act.Thank you!
It was great that Sirius Black and James Potter are the welcome wagon for Scorpius and Hermione (Hecate).Well done--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Hee, Jamesie and Siri are such sweet boys, right? Thanks!
How is it that Scorpius was able to recognise his name? Hmm, very interesting.Well done--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
He had it on a locket, which is presumptuous of him, but it works well enough out for him. =) Thanks!
Great first chapter--keep up the good work!☺
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Thank you!
UK you're brilliant! The banner is fine, and matches quite a bit the feelings of your story. Think you could handle a Luc/Hermione one? Or show us someone who would be your idea of Reg. Ali, etc. . . After the new release of Half-Blood Prince I don't see Lucius with the lady playing NArcissa, he;s too pretty for that.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I've been trying to find pics of all my favorites for a while, especially one for the Lestrange brothers. I want to make a background with all the yummy characters for myself so that I have a visual that aren't my sketches. I'm in complete agreement with you on Cissa in the HBP movie, that is SO not her. X_X I imagine someone with cornflower blond hair, very beautiful and regal.
You said that the curse is acting more slowly. Does that mean she's going to die? Is there a counter curse? Sorry for all this but it's really intriguing and exciting.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Like her counterpart in the "future," Hermione's going to be on about ten potions a day for a while to counteract the curse's effects. It works roughly the same, I just added the details that Rowling "left out." lol, I can't kill off my viewpoint character! Not now, anyway. ~.^
ooooooo. she is finally getting memories that stick and with length. glad for the dolonov bit. that is definately one of those things in hp that i thought should have more side effects or be mentioned more seriously after it happened. so it looks like scorpius should be back to friendship with her. i wonder if she would give out more truer details in private. but oooh if that memory was just bit longer she would have gotten to see lucius.and lookie she wants to be an animagus so she can hang out too. glad to see she finally realized remus is a werewolf.what will come of this? how will the rest of the marauders act for example.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I don't think she was thinking when she told Score and Molly that she knew they were from the future. XD A little of our Gryffindor Mione is leaking through...I really agonized over whether to show her the whole of the Department of Mysteries sequence. Unfortunately, I wanted to leave her a bit more confused for a while longer, and most of that stuff would have been too much. =( It's almost as suspenseful writing this story as it is to be reading it, I'll bet. I wouldn't hold my breath on the Marauders. ^^; (Can you tell I don't have a high opinion of them? lol)
Amazing! Loving Every Single Chapter!
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Thank you, sweets! =)
That was exciting. What a great time to have a flashback, huh?
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Terrific time, lol. =D At least the birds pulled her back to the regular world last time. Thank you! =)
Of all the memories that could have flashed into Heck's mind, it had to be the curse that nearly killed her older self. And what a singularly horrible curse it was, ugh! I wonder if it was one of Severus' HBP curses, since he created so many in his Hogwarts years. Hermione's quite lucky that her banshee act brought Severus and Score chasing after her. Even though I find Muggle-hating Heck extremely disturbing, I like that she is still so fond and protective of Remus. I wonder if she'll succeed at her Animagus quest, and, if so, what form she will take and whether it will reflect Heck's or Hermione's personality. I understand the lynx was native to Britain at one time and supposedly they are still spotted occasionally. I think a lynx would suit her to a tee!Great update as always, UK!
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I hadn't thought of it being one of Sev's spells. o.o Heck is getting closer and closer to figuring out things about Muggles. I would make her a lynx if there wasn't already a canon character with the same creature. Much as I love Kingsley, I don't think it would match up right now. o.o Great idea pushing, though, because I still haven't figured out what I'm going to make her. ;) Thank you muchly, cakes! =)HermioneDiggory's response:
Good point about Kingsley, I like him too. But you're right, it wouldn't fit with this story.Hmm.Here's a thought... since Hermione always sucked so bad at flying, maybe Heck could redeem her other self by becoming a bird of some kind?
That is so frightening.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I know, right? o.o So many what-ifs in this story.
That is a mean, mean place to leave off. Well, to be fair, I might say that no matter what. I'm enjoying this story so much, and it's so original, that I just can't help myself.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I'm sowwy, sweets. If it's any consolation, I'm enjoying writing it, too. =) I love Heck's dilemma and I'm, for better or for worse, enjoying making her life a living hell. XD Thanks for reading, hon. ~UK
So I realized yet again that I missed leaving you a review. I'm so sorry dear, I remember writing the review for this chapter and then getting a message on facebook messed up my tab and everything I wrote disappeared... anyways!I loved this chapter, as I've loved all of them. It was so very intense and I was really freaked out when she said "No, I am the devil" OMG, that's heavy. It was also kinda freaky getting the feeling that our little Hecate was crushing on The Dark Lord. It just made me go... ewwwwwe. I realize that the guy they had playing him in COS was a cutie, but it still made me shudder. It also freaks me out to see her being so, so.... Slytherin! I hope to see a little more of her true self in later chapters. Please keep going.Much Love Always~Brena
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Hopefully the brash Gryffindor-ness of her actions in the newest chapter (in the queue) will give you a peek into the Mione we know and love, hon. =) I was very tentative about writing the entire exchange betwixt Heck and Voldie because I wanted it absolutely perfect. I'm really hoping to show the good side of Slytherin (and being Slytherin) in this story, while remaining as true as possible to canon. The adorableness of Lord V is canon... I don't know why there are all these stories showing him "turning snakelike" before his fall to the Potters. I think that "form" was entirely the potion's fault. He was supposed to be extremely "catches more flies with honey than vinegar" type of guy. o.o Anyways. Thank you, as always, for your lovely reviews. =)
oooooooooh. poor everybody in the future. hermione just isnt going as plan. i must say my heart went out to ron, rose, hugo and teddy. maybe the dream poeple will have to be more effective since she is gonig to the other side much to fast. i'm glad we got more of the plan-that she is suppose to get her memories in 1981-but boy by then she can be voldemort's righthand man. and molly obliviated her-damn-i wonder what exactly will be molly's plans to possibly alter things. and i temoraily forgot that tom riddle would be his charming self. interesting chapter indead. can't wait for more.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
The future sure does seem bleak, eh. I think most people do forget that Riddle was a very charming man. Only Dumbledore was suspicious of him. Thank you~!
Wow! She is becoming a real Slytherin and a dangerous one. How can someone change drastically? I hope she will realize her mistake before it's too late.
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
I forgot: I'd love to have the recepies. The dishes sounds delicious the way you describe them.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I like to believe that people can change when things happen to them. I've watched first-hand as these sorts of changes occur, though luckily for me they've been mostly for the better. I'll post the recipes with the next chapter. =)
Curiouser and curiouser. I would have never thought she'd be swayed by the Dark Lord. Not quite sure I like this Hermione, but I'll give her a chance.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
The funny thing about LV in my mind is that he is handsome, charismatic, and his ability with Legilimensy allows him to note exactly what would sway someone to his way of thinking. I'm glad you're still giving her a chance. =) Thank you.
What is the significance of Scorp's locket hummmm?
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
Nothing much yet. =) Other than his name.
WOW You really have changed things havent you? I am on pins and needes here!
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
I live to change things. Change perceptions, change my t-shirt, change the world, it's all the same, yah? lol, thank you~!
If they wanted her to stay Hermione-ish, they shouldn't have Obliviated her. Yeesh. This fascinates me. I'm not sure how you are going to play it out.
Response from Ugly Kitten (Author of The Devil's Game)
That's the fun of doing something like this. You can go anywhere with it. =) Thank you~!
