After a new law reduces witches to chattel, Hermione Granger finds herself married to Severus Snape in order to keep her from the Death Eaters.
Hermione begins to shadow Severus in his work with the Order. They begin to form a mutual respect and love for each other after Hermione works as negotiator to a matriarchal secret society, the Amazons.
Severus stations them in Russia, where his family has a home, and his cousin is active in patriarchal secret society, the Mystic Brotherhood, who has been at odds with the Amazons for years.
After the Final Battle is fought, one would think the Order would be done with its work, but after Harry is scarred forever, Hermione is given a holy artifact, and a mysterious string of Muggle murders catches the attention of the Ministry, it seems as if their work is just beginning...

I thought Severus thinking about whether or not to send his mother-in-law flowers and whether it would make his father-in-law mad was quite funny. Do both sets of parents continue to be part of the story?

Jacob and Anastasia Snape are going to be fun. I laughed when Jacob transformed out of his animagus form to stand butt naked before Hermione. What a way to meet her father-in-law! Hoot!And I suppose the Russian Family Estate that they will be staying in for the summer comes from Anastasia's side of the family.I like have Severus' family being part of the story. We don't often see his family portrayed as anyone other than as a Muggle father and his mother as a pureblood who went against her family's wishes. And both of them are often seen as unhappy people. I think I'm going to enjoy this set of Snape parents.Well done!Beth

Thanks! Unfortunatly, this story was started even before book 5 was released so I didn't have an inkling that Severus came from anything but a happy home. I thought he was a spoiled rich kid that rebelled against the trappings of his family :D See how much I know...
Well, I like the old codger, and I'm not talking about Severus. It was funny how embarrassed Severus was by his Dad. I guess we all get that way about our families, don't we?

You've pictured a very considerate Snape, and the relationship develops in small, measured steps. Not all is so canon (since you atarted long ago, I presume) but it is a relaxing and amusing read.

Poor guy. He was resigned to have at least a cordial working relationship when he volunteered to petition for her. (He heard about the Mundungus idea and put his foot down.) He's finding her company quite pleasant when she isn't around Ron and Harry...
