After a new law reduces witches to chattel, Hermione Granger finds herself married to Severus Snape in order to keep her from the Death Eaters.
Hermione begins to shadow Severus in his work with the Order. They begin to form a mutual respect and love for each other after Hermione works as negotiator to a matriarchal secret society, the Amazons.
Severus stations them in Russia, where his family has a home, and his cousin is active in patriarchal secret society, the Mystic Brotherhood, who has been at odds with the Amazons for years.
After the Final Battle is fought, one would think the Order would be done with its work, but after Harry is scarred forever, Hermione is given a holy artifact, and a mysterious string of Muggle murders catches the attention of the Ministry, it seems as if their work is just beginning...

Trouble seems to follow those two around :S
A nice ordinary existence for our hero and heroine with Quidditch matches and scrolls to grade, and of course, Crookshanks to scratch behind the ears.So, with Hermione's schooling coming to an end, they will be traveling to Russia for the summer. I have to wonder what adventures (read "tight spots") will they find themselves in before they can make it back home. And what will Hermione decide to pursue as a career? Severus undoubtedly knows what plans have been made for her as a member of the Order.Hermione likes the look of Severus' butt. Hummm..... will she be getting an opportunity to see his backside au natural?Your Snape is such a nice character. Sometimes shy, always (so far) considerate, and as Hermione told Lavender, “He was a perfect gentleman.” I look forward to the next chapter!

Things are about to get very interesting for our duo.
The last sentence gave chills in the back. Hope nothing of the sort will happen to her. Apart from that they seem to get along quite well. and travelling together surely will make them get closer...

You have no idea... this is actually a rewrite of my MLC that I've been working on for years. A reread made it glaringly apparent my writing style had changed and improved over the years so it's being rewritten and posted here first before being updated. (It's up to chapter 31 on fanfiction dot net and my website.) Since it was one of the original MLC's, it is mostly based of canon from Book 4 with a bit of book 5 thrown in. I hope you do enjoy it!

I am very glad to see that there's no such thing as a duty to consummate the marriage, as we see so often in other marriage law fics. I am wondering about the Hermione's businesslike manner, however – been waiting for her breakdown during the whole chapter... I guess I'll just have to wait and see (and bookmark).

I kind of see Hermione as the type to break down when she's really stressed or frustrated and she hasn't really had the opportunity to panic yet, her immediate concerns were already taken care of and as far as she sees things, she was protected by the Order and the only thing that's changed is her room. Once she has time to think things through she won't be quite so complacent about things...
A natural progression for them. How funny that Hermione's father got shrunk. Lol. Your Ministry is a bit bone chilling. Poisoning the food, altering the minds of those that won't go along with the law. Did Voldemort win already?

This was started between book 4 and 5 so when the fic starts Voldemort is still in hiding. The only things I managed to work in from book 5 was Sirius' death, Grimmauld Place, and the Order.Even though Fudge is in denial about Voldemort, he's gotten obsessed with the idea of the Wizarding World becoming weaker in the UK and is trying to increase numbers quickly.

Funny to say it, but it makes more sense, realizing that Fudge is the creator of all of this nonsesnse.
Nice wedding... and they couldn't trust Fred and George Weasley not to spike the punch. Typical of those boys! Ah well, Mr Granger will be back to his old self in just a few days. No harm, no foul.I kinda wanted the bride and groom to consummate their marriage, that night, but as someone else has already said, it is usually better if they are allow to find their own way in their own time.Very nicely written!

Her wedding dress sounded beautiful! I'm glad there wasn't a forced consummation. The stories that let that proceed naturally out of their relationship tend to be more romantic, in my opinion. Looking forward to more.

I enjoy reading the mlc fics. I'm glad to see another one to read. I kind of got the impression from Prof Snape's conversation with DD, that he wants to marry HG; that he wasn't asked to marry her. Hmmm...will this story be DH complient? *hopes not* Looking forward to the next chapter.

Thanks! You'll find out more about Hermione's prospective rescuers in the next chapter. This was one of the original MLC's that came out while we were all waiting for OOP to be released, so it's compliant up until Book 4, with a smidgin of Book 5 put in as I went. After that it's AU.
As I said it is great, just wanted to check again.

I really hope you enjoy it! It's a rewrite of my original MLC from 5 years ago when the challenge started :D (I think I've gotten a lot better and decided to rewrite and have another shot at finishing it.
Is that what this is ? A rewrite of the story ? I have waited so long to get the rest of it, I have up to chapter 38 and was wondering if you would ever finish it. It was too good to let it go like that. Did you do many rewrites in the chapters ? I do hope that you will be updating and , please finishing it this time. The suspense is horrid ! Thanks for getting it up and going again. But DO answer my questions, I am very curious. thanks.

I was actually working on the newest chapter when I had to go back and do a bit of fact checking and found all the discrepencies 
So... I decided to fix what I had messed up before I could continue because some of it did make a big difference in the long run. I've found ways to make the chapters more clearer and descriptive, so the version posted here will be a bit more smooth than the original. My style has improved a lot in 5 years! (I think...) The first part of the new chapter is done and hopefully after I fix everything I'll be able to update on a more regular basis.Thanks!

unfortunatly, I broke off my engagement last Wednesday and I'm packing my stuff right now, so the updates have hit a bit of a snag, but I'll be up and updating again very soon. I'm going through the edit for the next chapter, but I'm being a bit pokey about it...
