Hermione Granger's world is upended when a letter from the Ministry of Magic forces her to be the one thing she couldn't have imagined in her most feverish nightmares: the wife of her dreaded Potion's master.
~~ My little attempt at the WIKTT Marriage Law Challenge ~~ Lascivious rating is for the hot monkey sex to come in later chapters.

A 30-something aspiring romance novelist shamelessly (and obsessively) devoted to Harry Potter and many other geeky fandoms. I ship mostly Hermione/Snape and Harry/Hermione, but have been known to dabble in others.

Brilliant chapter.Interesting that no-one picked up on Severus saying that he could have saved her and Ron from a whole heap of danger
So, Ron buys it? Since this is Potions under Duress? That was brave but stupid.
Fantastic job - I can't wait to read the rest! Update soon.
I like the way you're giving this story time to evolve into what could be, what would be, what will be....
And a certain someone being able to drink coffee and look arrogant at doing so - that's just great!!
I have a cup of coffee here, too, and I have been trying for the past 5 minutes to drink it looking arrogant but heck, I'm just not Snape enough.... lol!!
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Hehehehe. Honestly, I think Snape might be the only one I know of who COULD be arrogant and drink coffee at the same time *snerk* Thanks for taking the time to read and review!
Neville is so brave to offer for Hermione's hand. Not so much the Death Eater aspect, but he's lived with her day in and out for years and knows just how strong-willed she is.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Yeah, I think Neville gets a bad rap all too often as being a spineless jellyfish. If he was, he'd never survive living with his grandmother!
Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Good 2nd chapter - I have a feeling that this is going to get very dangerous for Hermione. I cannot wait to see what you come up for her in the end.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Dangerous times are, indeed, on the horizon for my dear girl. You'll just have to wait and see...! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Interesting take on this.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Thank you! Thanks for reviewing!
...Yes, but we can all guess what is going to happen next. Hm... Poor Neville. I hope he doesn't get hurt.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Hehehe, yes, we can guess where this is going. And I promise I'll take good care of Neville. ^_^ Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Gee could it be that Snape spent the night trying to argue against Dumbledore insisting he petition for Hermione? Or may be he wants to? Well done Irish
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Hehehehehe, you never know! *halo* Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Sweet Neville, standing up for the right thing.
Good lord, can you imagine the walking disasters that would be his and Tonks' children? That's just too funny to picture.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
*cackles* Good lord, they'd destroy an entire city block inside an hour!
Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I always love to read a good marriage law fic and this was a good first chapter - cannot wait to see what twists and turns you come up with in this story.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Stay tuned; more on the way!
eww and so it begins. I certainly hope that I can at least rely on the predictability that Severus will begrudginly be brought into servie of making his own petition of marriage. I am sorry Draco is great for Ginny, but not Hermione. Good start!
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
*giggles* Well, Sevvie is my favorite male to play with and I'm a diehard SS/HG fan, so I'm sure you cna do the math. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
I love this fic!

I never get tired of these Marriage fics! I'm eagerly awaiting your personal spin on it all!

Hehehehe... I never get tired of them either. Despite the similar links they all have because of requirements, each one is so different. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
It's hard to say something about a first chapter like this one. Just one thing is bothering me a little. I found it a bit difficult to understand when the story begins. By the end, I guess it takes place the summer between year six and 7, which would be after HBP but in an AU as obviously Snape had not killed Dumbledore. Sorry for that I hate making criticism to an author, even if it's a very small one. And last but not least I enjoy this very much and will need more soon to satisfy my addiction to Severus :D.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
*nod* I'm sorry I confused you ... it didn't occur to me until I was in a chapter or two that I hadn't come right out and stated it. I originally started writing this fic in the break between Order and HBP, so Dumbledore wasn't dead yet. It is, of course, now DRASTICALLY A/U, not just because of Dumbledore but because of Snape's heritage/bloodline, etc. I'm glad you enjoyed it despite your confusion and I hope you come back again soon! I'm always happy to feed the Severus habit! *smirks*
Nicely done! I like the idea with the time turner that let's her come of age early.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Thank you! I'm so glad you like the idea and I hope you stay tuned for more!
This is an exciting start. I so totally love that you've given Malfoy "Adonai" for a middle name. Of course it'd be his middle name! Looking forward to the rest.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Hehehehe ... I thought "Adonai" appropriate; only Lucius Malfoy could pull off a name that, with all three names considered, means, "Light Lord of Bad Faith". *snerk* It was too much to resist. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
That pesky law never stops causing trouble, does it? :D Poor Hermione. Sigh. Oh, well, hope good old Snape makes it easier on her. Eventually.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Hehehehehe... and oh, how we love the trouble it causes. And Sevvie's never easy, but it's always a fun ride ^_^. Thanks for tuning in; more is on the way!
I love MLC's. Looking forward to reading the rest of this one :)
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
Thank you! And thanks for reading and reviewing!
Ah, the good old MLC... There are so many of them lately I don't know which one to read first!! Good start. Your style is crisp and direct--I enjoy it. I hope you plan on updating frequently.
Response from LadyTuesday (Author of Tying Knots)
I love the MLC's. Can't help it; I'm addicted ^_^. Thank you very much for your praise. I'll try to be as quick as I can about updating. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Love the Marriage Law stories and this was a great start. Look forward to reading another chapter soon.

Well, this weekend is going to be an interesting battle of wits and wills. It seems that Hermione will hold her own with the Marquis and with Severus. Before this visit is over, I think there will be many opportunities for quick repartee and left handed compliments.
This should be quite a show. Will Severus win any points with his father? Will the Marquis accord Hermione a grudging respect? Will the son find it within him to acknowledge his father's accomplishments? Or will they all come away with the feeling that they have just wasted two or three days of hard striving but winning little ground? Surely they will come to some level of understanding and acceptance that did not exist before. Hermione is very capable, and with her entrance into the manor, I think she has staked out for herself a bit of hilltop from which to both observe and defend.
Yes, an interesting time is in store for them and for us, I expect. And very nicely done I might add!

I saw this had been updated just before having to shut my laptop and go to work, and had to spend ten hours possessing my soul in patience before getting to read this chapter. And it was totally worth the wait. In some ways this seems to level the two - Hermione behaved cruelly, primarily to Harry and by implication to Snape, and Snape showed kindness and insight. Splendid story.
Woohoo! Delighted to see you back, I dont think I've read something in months so it was a pleasant surprise to see an update for this front and centre! Looking forward to more whenever it happens to fit in with real life :-)
So excited to see another chapter! I think Severus handled that very well under the circumstances. She did wrong, yes, but given how often he had focused on the "marriage of convenience" and how infrequently [never] they had discussed fidelity expectations, I can't totally blame her for wanting to have a positive experience elsewhere before it all happened. I hope they'll have a conversation soon about expectations!
