Hermione Granger's world is upended when a letter from the Ministry of Magic forces her to be the one thing she couldn't have imagined in her most feverish nightmares: the wife of her dreaded Potion's master.
~~ My little attempt at the WIKTT Marriage Law Challenge ~~ Lascivious rating is for the hot monkey sex to come in later chapters.

A 30-something aspiring romance novelist shamelessly (and obsessively) devoted to Harry Potter and many other geeky fandoms. I ship mostly Hermione/Snape and Harry/Hermione, but have been known to dabble in others.

Very good so far. Can't wait for the next installment.
super update. thanks so much
Come on Hermione! There's your chance to get out of this whole mess, and try to get someone else (There are still other Weasleys availabe). I wouldn't like to imagine what the wedding night would be...
Oh! You can't stop here! I'm all ready for the wedding wherein the bride takes away the groom's breath with her beauty, the awkward first night... This has been a great story, and has gotten me choked up on more than one occasion. I'm not a fan of Harry/Hermione, but I thought it was great in this, as well. Give me more of your chain- smoking, goth-booted version of Professor Snape. Love it!
nice!! Love the glimpses of Snape's approval - and Hermione's spirit - thanks for posting!
A very rare thing just happened. This chapter made me cry. I almost never cry when reading fan fiction. Most fan fic writers don't have the ability to manipulate my emotions that way. But you succeeded. Bravo!
I guess it was the release I felt when Ginny finally realized what Ron really meant to Hermione and how miserable she really was in her trapped state.
OMG!!! That was AMAZING! I love it!
I tire of stories that write Snape as someone sweet and even tempered. That's just not him. And IMO he loses most of his "charm" when his nastiness is taken away.
You NAILED him (except for the cigarettes, of course, but I trust you to direct Hermione to take care of that at a later date.)
You nailed Hermione, to BTW.
Love it, love it.
The Feast was so sad. All those students who died left a big empty space in the hearts of so many, students and staff alike. Other than Ron's death, the saddest one was that of Miss Greengrass of Slytherin House. It was a real eye-opener for Hermione to realize that she hadn't been as open and forth coming with all students as she had imagined herself to be.
When Severus thought he'd had just about all of the "wedding planning" he could stand, I laughed out loud when Dumbledore stopped his leaving. His thoughts just moments before were hilarious: "If he’d had to hear one more word about invitations or sleeping arrangements for her family or guests, he would have had to satisfy a base need and slapped one of the two of them soundly."
I was totally blown away that Severus' father would think, at his age, stop the wedding on the grounds that he (the father) hadn't met the bride and threatened to oppose the marriage. Does this mean that Hermione will find out what it is like to be one who must make a good impression? Will Severus defend her in the face of any complaints his father might have? Of course he will!
This should be very interesting. Well done, Lady Tuesday!

Snape has a Dad? Oh, dear, I hate to think what he is like. LOL :)
LOL, that Snape is being treated as a child by his Da.
I do very much adore this story and I can't wait for the next update!!
This chapter was such a great relief. I'm so glad that Ginny was able to set aside her pain and grief and become Hermione's friend once again. The two young women need each other, and the energy required to maintain such animosity or to endure that animosity would have drained the life from both of them. Besides, they both have enough on their plates dealing with Ron's death and Hermione's wedding.
Good job!

I think Hermiones independent lessons might get interesting with Severus? I really can't wait for the wedding 'night'!, if they get one that is damn Severus' father.
Wonderful chapter. I especially liked the end when Severus actually showed some character. It's good for Hermione to see him as something other than a stern professor.
I just found this today, and I truly understand why you had to kill off Ron. What I don't understand is why you made Snape a smoker. It messes up the sense of smell so badly that he would not be able to rely on his sense of smell for potion making. It makes no sense. My husband used to smoke and when he finally quit after almost 30 years, he was amazed at how much his sense of smell improved.I hope you find a way to get Hermione to help him quit before the end of your story.Other than that, this is riviting. I am glad I found it, and I will hurry to catch up with everyone else.

You know, it's funny that you point out the sense of smell issue, as it's something I intend to pursue later on. My father has been a smoker for a long time, and we've noticed that his senses of smell and taste are both quite diminished by it. It's one of the things Hermione's going to use to try and convince him to quit ^_^Thanks for reviewing and I hope you enjoy the story as you continue on!
So can he do that? Why did Dumbledore get the letter rather than Snape? I'm having to fight the urge to look for the rest of this story elsewhere. It's really fun. About 2/3's of the way down you mention independent study with Flitwick, but in the earlier paragraphs you had the study with Mcgonagall and Vector. Will she test out of Charms?

I guess you'll have to wait and see whether he gets away with it or not ...As far as Dumbledore getting the letter, I don't actually explain this for several chapters, but his father actually sent the letter to Dumbledore as a formal complaint against Severus as a staff member. Hermione doesn't know this (and won't for several chapters, as Severus chooses not to tell her), so you, the reader, don't know it.And thank you for pointing out that inconsistency! I had originally planned for her to study Transfiguration and Charms and then changed my mind to have it be Arithmancy instead, and I couldn't for the life of me find where the last reference to Charms was. Thanks for finding it for me! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Poor Hermione... I wonder what's worse; getting killed or marrying Snape...
I love your story. Indeed there were other alternatives; there are plenty of Weasleys available which Hermione would have prefered to Snape. It was just a matter of tightening the safety measures...But then your story would be lame. I'll keep reading.
moreee that was great!!! MOREEEE
how wonderful - I was not expecting that from Ginny - I am so glad you did it - thanks for your hard work and look forward to your next post
YAY another chapter!! WOO! I can't wait to see what happens! Good job! ^__^
Nice to see Ginny allowing some forgiveness into her heart. :)
you've done really, really well with this Knot thing.
This is one of my favorite chapters, with Hermione and Ginny reconciling... I was in tears myself while Hermione was explaining how inappropriate the dress was, and Ginny whispering that it was "perfect". Ron would have wanted her to wear it. Probably for anyone but Snape, but them's the breaks!
Speaking of Severus, I'm really feeling for him too. If it was in him to do so, he'd probably be in tears at the thought of his impending nuptials as well! It's depressing at the very least to be entering into matrimony with someone you're fairly certain doesn't want you at all. I hope that they will soon stand together in solidarity against all and sundry! I wait impatiently for the next chapter...
Wow, that was a very powerful chapter. I can't wait to read the next one.
Hmm, somehow I don't think thinking about England will be necessary.
