Late one night, someone calls to Hermione from an empty, black canvas. What she learns changes the situation quite a bit. A darker and sexier spin of the events in DH.

26 years old, avid HP fan, live in a pretty rainy country. My favourite writer is George Orwell, which should be taken as a warning by anyone looking for pink fluff. I do not like pink fluff.
I used to be a hard core SS/HG shipper. Then came Dracontia and completely blew my mind with her HP/DM stories. And once I started reading slash, there was just no going back. I still enjoy a well-written SS/HG (or any pairing, really), but the current passion is pretty boy-on-boy action. :-) Any pairing, more or less, I'm not that picky (except for SS/HP, that really creeps me out for some reason.)
I'm also an avid Bandom fan (P!atD). Those fics can be found on my LJ if you want to explore the waters outside the HP realm one day.
2008-12-08: Today, I abandoned hope of finishing my SS/HG WIPs "Shades of Grey" and "Les innocents." I'm very sad about letting go, but I feel it was the right thing to do. (More details in the A/Ns of each story if you're interested).

I was not expecting the person in the first section! And I will be vague so as to not ruin it for someone else.
Back=OUCH

While Hermione was climbing, I could almost feel the fear when she slipped. That section was so vivid.

A great chapter, full of surprises for all concerned, Severus had his eyes opened, Hermione found her inner Goddess, and Harry ... well Harry is seeing Hermione in a whole different light.
Ok, this is a nice transition chapter. I felt sorry for Bill. It is never easy to hear a friend or a relative talk about their own deaths, even hipothetically. Thanks for the translation in French!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you. I really like writing Bill, and whenever I can get some French is is fun. :-) Glad you liked it.

Your relationships as very well drawn. It is easy to see the emotional turmoil they are all experiencing.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you. The relationships are what interests me when I write, so I'm really glad you find them believable.

I'm glad she recognizes it isn't love. But wow, to have to live a life like that at her age. I think you are writing the emotions beautifully.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Yes, talk about having to grow up fast, eh? But I think that's true for people at war, generally. I'm glad the contrast came through. It's really Harry/Ron who are the lovestory in this, in the traditional sense at least. Thank you so much for the review.

Did I like this chapter? No...I loved it! Wonderful from beginning to end; exploring the deep emotions from all of the characters. Fantastic job!!

That was wonderfully morose. Everything is so gloomy in the lull before battle, you've done a great job of capturing the spirit of those about to die, or those who believe themselves about to die. The different characters' emotions were great. Nice job. :D
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you. The part with Harry and Bill is actually one of my favourite moments in this story. Bill just appeared from nowhere in this, and I love writing him. Glad you liked it. More to come.
I absolutely love your version of Deathly Hallows...so far! Much better story and better thought out! I will keep reading...but I am very impressed!

Just sat down and read this through in one go. I like it! Alternate DH stories are tricky to write and this one is quite believable and sad and entertaining.

Thank you kindly. I'm having a lot of fun with it, that's for sure. More to come, the story is completed so I'm posting as quickly as the queue will allow.

I like this glimpse of Harry as an adult making decisions for his future, especially when it is balanced with Severus and Hermione discussing Harry refusing to make decisions for his future previously.

It was interesting to read about how Harry experienced the sexual bits differently with Hermione and Ron. This little is a brilliant phrase The contact of skin was their language nowHoly cliff hanger!! Quick post the HG/SS naked fun!!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I'm really happy the Ron/Hermione contrast came across as well. Thanks!

...and she cleverly ignores the request for naked Severus ASAP. Oh you authors and your manical ways!

There is a lovely balance to this chapter. I am not particularly one for slash, but Harry and Ron's relationship certainly comes across as love, especially - “I wanted to tell you how I felt... Now it just feels so…”“Unnecessary,” Harry filled in, pulling him a bit closer. “Yeah, I know what you mean.”Smiling, they drifted off to sleep.Re Snape and Hermione - while they are not romantically 'in love' it is driven by the need to be 'loved'/wanted. Considering they both have been rejected by others in the past.Love your writing and look forward to the next chapter.Cheers.

Oh, DEFINITELY my favorite chapter so far. The emotions are definitely bubbling and rolling just under the surface, desperate to break free... but something was holding them back until the right moment. Harry found his moment with Ron, and Hermione found it with Severus.

Very intense. I am not particularly into slash, but I take my hat off to you. The passion between Ron and Harry is described so powerfully that one almost forgets their gender. While I was reading, I felt as breathless as Harry is in those paragraphs.Wonderful!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
I'm so extremely happy to hear that. That was my goal with this entire story line. When I decided to write Harry/Ron, I really wanted to write a lovestory, not a slash story, and I'm so happy it went through. Thank you so much for reviewing!

I can't quite see Hermione going back to Severus, but then again, I'm not in her shoes. It must be hard to be young and in those circumstances.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Yes, definitely. I see her very much as having little time and even fewer choices in this. He's the only person not in the Order that she can trust at the moment, and also the only one who knows something about her circumstances.Thank you for reviewing!

I think that was pretty good. You showed their emotions well, how torn Harry was between supporting Hermione and loving Ron. Her need for somone to be hers alone is poignant. :)
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you. I'm glad Harry's struggle got through. I really see him as stuck between a rock and a hard place with this one.

Cool chapter. Definate sense of emotional turmoil for all concerned, with a hint of despair and desperation on Hermione's part. None of them are really in a good place at the mo. At least Harry and Ron have each other, Hermione may have Sev, but it's not really the same. I thoroughly enjoyed that chapter, your anxiety was unnecessary. :D

Oh, really good chapter. A nice plot twist, that Hermione finds she deserves to forget the pain, too.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you very much! Yes, Hermione is growing slowly. Right now, she's in a pretty bad place, but then it's always darkest before sunrise. Though, in this story, I'm guessing we're only around 10 pm right now. More to come.
*gasp* Oh god, it was Ron there! And I thought he wouldn't come back... eagerly moving to next chapter!
