Late one night, someone calls to Hermione from an empty, black canvas. What she learns changes the situation quite a bit. A darker and sexier spin of the events in DH.

26 years old, avid HP fan, live in a pretty rainy country. My favourite writer is George Orwell, which should be taken as a warning by anyone looking for pink fluff. I do not like pink fluff.
I used to be a hard core SS/HG shipper. Then came Dracontia and completely blew my mind with her HP/DM stories. And once I started reading slash, there was just no going back. I still enjoy a well-written SS/HG (or any pairing, really), but the current passion is pretty boy-on-boy action. :-) Any pairing, more or less, I'm not that picky (except for SS/HP, that really creeps me out for some reason.)
I'm also an avid Bandom fan (P!atD). Those fics can be found on my LJ if you want to explore the waters outside the HP realm one day.
2008-12-08: Today, I abandoned hope of finishing my SS/HG WIPs "Shades of Grey" and "Les innocents." I'm very sad about letting go, but I feel it was the right thing to do. (More details in the A/Ns of each story if you're interested).

Very nice chapter! I liked your explanation - I have read JKR's several times and I just don't get it - maybe I'm not smart enough..nah. Very good job - my only question is this - is Snape dead? I look forward to the next chap!

Thank you! No, I very much doubt that you're not smart enough to get the canon version. You're probably too smart, as a matter of fact. The canon verson made absolutely no sense whatsoever logically. :-)As for Snape... re-read the passage of Hermione battling Bellatrix and I believe you'll have your answer. Thanks for reviewing!

I liked that version better than DH. Yes, the Elder Wand made no sense, but then again, not much did.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
I completely agree with you. By the end, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...Glad you liked my spin of events. Thanks for the review!

Thank you. I'm very glad to hear it. The mess with the EW in canon annoyed me to no end. :-) Thanks for reviewing!

Interesting how Ron swears to follow Harry to death if need be. Hopefully all of our favorite characters will make it back safe from the battle.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Well, Harry is the love of his life, and Ron's a Gryffindor after all. :-) As for the rest--cross your fingers. Next chapter's in the queue.Thank you so much for all the lovely reviews. They really make my day every time.

Hopefully Seerus will be saved. At least Voldermort knew that Severus betrayed him, and that he had some recognition for his life of spying.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Yes, that was important to me, for him to get some credit for all the years of sacrifice. Thanks for reviewing!

That was a chilling ending to the chapter, full of forboding.

I think this chapter was very difficult to do and you did a very tasteful job in dealing with the emotional mess the trio is in.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you. That makes me really happy to hear. It was a very tricky chapter to write, because I really didn't want to make a villain out of anyone. I'm glad you liked it.

eww, ewww, ewww Hermione must have been grossed out being in Bellatrix's memories like that.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
I believed 'grossed out' would be a big understatement. Terrified and traumatised, I'd say. Thanks for reviewing!

Poor Hermione, it must be hard when the guy she sleeps with has interest in another man. Kind of funny in a twisted way.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Yes, not an ideal situation, is it? :-)

Great chapter, I laughed at Hermione when she realized she propositioned Snape, which of course I've been waiting for!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thanks! Well, I had to get them going somehow... :-)

Go, Ron, exterminate those DE's! I'm sure Harry will need as much help as he can get.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
LOL! Yes, go Ron. I'm glad he's coming across as somehting more than a comic sidekick. I really enjoy writing him as an actual person for once.

I onder if Headmaster Black is a bit jealous of Headmaster Snape? Too funny that he out billowed Severus.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thanks. I had a lot of fun writing that. I love Phineas.

Interesting how you are adding your own twist to canon, I think it will be fun to follow along and see how you blend your story into Deathly Hallows and come up with a new version.

Poor Hermione, she really shouldn't be so hard on herself. I like the new twists you put in the story.

Interesting how you handled how Harry should find the sword.

I agree, the camping trip in DH was overdone. Interesting how Severus contacted Hermione. Nice start.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you. I never understood why she had to get them into that tent in the first place. The whole things screams of faulty logic. :-)

That was the saddest goodbye ever. Now I am a wreck, anxiously hoping that Ron doesn't kill himself in advance.
And maybe CPR was all our Half-Blood Prince needed? Oh, the agony of waiting!
Thansk for the amazing work!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Yes, that would be cruel, wouldn't it? Harry coming back from the dead only to find Ron's body...Well, we'll find out soon enough. :-) Thank you so much for reviewing. I'm glad you like it.

Oh my God! I'm out of Internet for a week and here's the outcome: chapters, fresh from the oven, with EVIL CLIFFIES! AAAARRRGGHHHH! *runs like fire to read the next ones*Wonderful chapter!

Ohmygod ohmygod... I read this and YOU MADE ME LATE TO WORK!! I couldn't stop reading! I think that could actually be a compliment to you're writing though?
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Oh, most definitely! I'm insanely flattered. Sorry about making you late. :-) And thank you for the review!

I wonder if Hermione will slip Harry some tid bits of useful information? I can imagine its hard to keep it all from him.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Time will tell... :-) She doesn't have much time left though. Things will get pretty busy as they get closer to the end. Thanks for reviewing!

I should be typing and I'm so into this story I simply cannot stop! Oh, how clever of the girl to lie about Tom using a Muggle bank? Odd, but works.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you! You know, if he had done that, the Horcruxes would probably have been much safer. I mean, the wizards have one bank, Muggles have thousands. It would have been a needle in a haystack. Aw... stupid Voldy... :-)

I didn't realize that under the Polyjuice you became the person body and mind - or is because of the memories that she was confusing herself with Bellatrix? And Snape, tearing off her clothes once she'd changed back - what changed his mind into wanting her so?
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
It's not the Polyjuice that's effecting her, it's the memories. She's gone through most of Bella's mind, and their memories are mixing. And with Bella's body, she connects more strongly with Bella's memories since the sensory parts match. As for Snape tearing off her clothes, he's not so much initiating as helping her. She's in shock and breaking apart as they land, suffocating under Bella's mind, and he's trying to override the sensations, so to speak. :-)Thank you so much for the interesting review!
