Late one night, someone calls to Hermione from an empty, black canvas. What she learns changes the situation quite a bit. A darker and sexier spin of the events in DH.

26 years old, avid HP fan, live in a pretty rainy country. My favourite writer is George Orwell, which should be taken as a warning by anyone looking for pink fluff. I do not like pink fluff.
I used to be a hard core SS/HG shipper. Then came Dracontia and completely blew my mind with her HP/DM stories. And once I started reading slash, there was just no going back. I still enjoy a well-written SS/HG (or any pairing, really), but the current passion is pretty boy-on-boy action. :-) Any pairing, more or less, I'm not that picky (except for SS/HP, that really creeps me out for some reason.)
I'm also an avid Bandom fan (P!atD). Those fics can be found on my LJ if you want to explore the waters outside the HP realm one day.
2008-12-08: Today, I abandoned hope of finishing my SS/HG WIPs "Shades of Grey" and "Les innocents." I'm very sad about letting go, but I feel it was the right thing to do. (More details in the A/Ns of each story if you're interested).

Insanity awaits...I LOVE that line. It sums up Bellatrix perfectly. And how you descibed her mind--oh, my. You really reached deep into her blacken soul. That would make me scream too.
Another great chapter...

Thank you very much. I loved writing Bellatrix, all those twists and turns and depravity. Glad you liked it.

Wow. Lovely chapter Red. I think this was the best one yet. I can't wait to see Hermione transform once she truly understands what it is to be Bellatrix.

Wow, right back! Thank you vey much. Yes, next chapter will see a change, for sure. Hermine has a lot to learn.

I really loved this chapter. The idea that memories from an insane mind might be unstable is fascinating. I love how Snape was there for her when she ran out of the house. I did go back and read chapter 3. It's clever, the way you wrote it. It's always about Harry. He saw Harry's back and Harry's clothes. You designed it very well. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Thank you. You don't know how happy hearing that makes me. I didn't plan on creating that when I started writing this story, but once I had Ron on the scene, it was so clear all of a sudden. :-) It's my first attempt at slash, and I must say it's been a very nice experience so far. It's actually my first real love story now that I think about it. SS/HG tend to get caught up in hinderances and it's nice to write a couple that can go deeper, emotionally without having to fight so hard.I babble... Sorry. :-) Thank you very much. More is in the queue. Hope you'll keep on enjoying the story.

A very interesting twist of the DH plot. I wonder what is going to transpire in Diagon Alley...

Uh oh! Nearly felt sorry for Ron - nearly. ;-) Feeling worse for Hermione though, all this guilt... grrr.(Am slowly catching up again - work not being conducive to much fic reading.)
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Yes, it's not a very happy moment, is it? :-) Somebody feeling sorry for Ron though, I must admit that makes me kind of proud. ;-)Good luck with work, hope it goes down to give you more reading time. :-) Until next time...

I am really enjoying this story, RedOrchid. Your style and descriptions let me loose myself in 'your' reality in this story.....I love that about reading ! Blank out the real world for a short time, coupled with a great plot that pulls me back for more and more. It's great so it tis!! Am so intrigued now...will Snape come around and fall for Hermione and vice a versa - nice build up to all this...I feel so sorry for her after she caught Harry and Ron. Can;t wait to see what happens when she ventures into Gringotts..... tensions may run high, Snape may have to rescue her again? or save her? or..they may realise they have feelings for each other...and what of the other two walking testoterone filled human skins? (Sorry bout that....just they annoyed me with the way they 'used' Hermione). Anyways, back to my reality now - please update this story soon with loads more chapters.... looking forward to the next one with bated breath!

That's such a lovely, lovely review. Thank you so much. I'm posting this as quickly as the queue can keep up, so expect more in a few days.Yes, Gringotts will be interesting indeed. And will definitely have an impact on Snape and Hermione's relationship. Stay tuned...
Response from Redzer (Reviewer)
I spoilt it for myself, I found the Gringott's chapter on Ashwinder site..... . now where's Chapter8 ?!!!! hee hee hee!! Great chapter by d'by, don't want to say too much here, but being inside Bellatrix's mind is just not right at all...very twisted, somewhat perverted and downright scary..... but brilliant chapter. I now have to keep myself busy while await for 8 and beyond. you're great at the d'auld cliffhangers aren't you...tormenting us the readers.... ah well, that trait makes a great author/writer ! many thanks, and see you soon!

That was really amazing. All the details and the emotions. And re-reading chapter 3 is fascinating with what we now know. I'm surprised there wasn't an outcry with Hermione running off, but then the boys would have to explain. I still can't quite see how Severus will find it in himself to fall for her, but this is a wonderful story, and I'm sure you will give us a good reason.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you so much!I'm really glad chapter 3 worked. I really hoped it would. As for Hermione running off--who said there wasn't an outcry? Dun dun dun.... :-) More to come.

I liekd the insane penseive. Quite disturbing without laying it on too thick. I'm liking where this fic is going. Keep up the good work.

What were you going to do? Keep camping—hiding out in the woods—until these objects mysteriously fell into your laps? Or did you hope that if you spent enough time sitting unproductively on your collective arses, the Dark Lord would somehow conveniently implode?”I must admit that there were plenty of times that seemed to be exactly the plan. The whole plan. Seems like right now they could use a master chess player. Oh, yeah! They ran him off with their little hormonal display. Now what?
~Scurries off to the next chapter.~
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
I'm taking out my frustration with DH in this, I have to admit. :-) Snape's voice just works so well for that. Thanks for reviewing!

Well, I've got to say it. Poor Hermione. That's just gotta hurt big time. Now who grabbed Hermione's wrist? With that evil cliffie, I'm hoping for an update soon!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you! Yes, fun it is not. I feel very sorry for Hermione in this as well. Good she got something else to think about, eh? :-) More on the mystery person in the next chapter.

Oooooh! Lovely bit of misdirection there in the beginning section. I fell for it, too. Now you've gone and done it. You've made me feel sorry for Ron. Yes, he deserted them, but he sure as hell didn't deserve to witness THAT upon his return. It would be useful to her, and he was nothing if not useful. That almost sounds like Snape summing up his entire tenure under Dumbledore. He was useful. To the bitter end, he was useful.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you! What a lovely review. In two lines, you manage to summarise my entire brain when it comes to this story and DH in general. Thank you!

Another fine chapter. So Hermione presents Harry with the sword. Kind of weird, since I was expecting him to go in and get it himself.I wonder who the silver crow is? Snape's patronus is definately a doe, due to the fact that he still loves Lily.Looking forward to more fun and games!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Well, I couldn't resist a touch of parody here. Hermione makes a fine Lady of the Lake, don't you think? :-)No silver doe in this story. I thought the explanation for that in DH was utterly ridiculous. (especially if, as JKR said in her interviews, Lily's Patrunus changed after falling in love with James.) So, Snape gets a crow. :-)

I've heard about this story, from various sources and folks were kind of diappointed in it, due to the fact that Snape is dead...I don't know if he dies in the story here, but he is not dead yet, from what I can gather. He does'nt have his own prtrait yet, and is speaking via Phineas' portrait in the Headmaster's office. That having been said, I do like this story and I am interested to see what transpires as Harry and Co search for the Horcruxes.Hermione shows the effects of her neverending travels and seem weary from everything thatis happening. It will be interesting to see how Snape's role developes in this staory.Best of luck with future chapters and I will stick with this one! Cheers!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
That's pretty weird. Snape is definitely not dead in this story. He speaks through Phineas Nigellus's portrait, yes, but he is very much alive when doing it. I'll be really sad if people are disappointed about somehting that's not actually in the story. Do you have any examples for places where this is stated so that I can go and put out the info? Also, if you like the story, please spread the word! Especially about Snape not being dead. :-)Thank you. :-)

Oh.Well that explains a few things. I expect Miss Granger is feeling quite used, as she was after all.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Oh, definitely. Not a happy moment for her at all, even if she was kind of using Harry in return. Thank you for reviewing!

Many kinks for the voyuers in this chapter! Woot!“You mean to tell me that you have nothing of use? What were you going to do? Keep camping—hiding out in the woods—until these objects mysteriously fell into your laps? Or did you hope that if you spent enough time sitting unproductively on your collective arses, the Dark Lord would somehow conveniently implode?” what are you reading my mind? I thought that repeatedly when I read DH. It was so frustrating. No wonder Snape had a tempter tantrurum!!
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
:-) Yes, I'm letting Snape channel my inner temper tantrums with regards to DH in this. Thanks for reviewing!

At first I thought Ron's POV was Snape's it felt like him. You are so sneaky. Frankly I am not too upset that ron has gown AWOL again. Any friend that would leave in a time of crisis is not a friend you can count on. Was there any birthcontrol ??
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Thank you! I'm glad the sneakiness worked. :-)Ron's state of mind will come clear in a few chapter. Let's just say he had pretty good reason not to stick around after that performance. :-)And don't worry about the birthcontrol issue. Hermione is a smart witch (on some things at least :-)) and she will not join the teen pregnancy group in this fic.

Godric as a drama queen! You had me laughing at that. OH NO Harry kissed her. I can see how he was all wrapped up in the moment. Please let that be it.
Response from RedOrchid (Author of Conversations Through an Empty Frame)
Ouch. Can't promise that, I'm afraid. Snape did a little too good a job on those charms, I'm afraid. :-)

I like your spin on DH, especially if it gets the camping to end sooner than later!

I KNEW they would get freaky together!!! Yes!
And I love how quickly Snape formulated a plan to cover his own sweet arse while saving them... excellent.
And who grabbed Hermione?? Can't wait to find out!

Yikes! I never saw that coming! Makes perfect sense. Poor Hermione!I'll say it again, the only thing wrong with life is you have to live it chronologically! But at least...

Poor Severus. He must really have a hate on for Harry now. And responding to Hermione must really annoy him to boot!
