It was only after Snape followed her into the neglected shop, moving furtively between the shafts of sunlight that pierced the gloom, that it occurred to him to wonder why, ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Hermione Granger was running. And why, in a world with magic, real magic, she should be seeking the counsel of a Muggle Tarot reader.

Thanks so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying it :)
I love this transformation and history of the RoR. Seems fitting.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you! I thought so, too :)
what an amazing story. you write so powerfully i seem to feel all they're feeling. thank you so much and i look forward to the next chapter.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you! I'm delighted. The next chapter is nearly done. I'll be uploading it soon. :D
Wow, my dear, this is breathtaking. I haven't been reading this because my list of WIP's is obscenely long and I didn't want to start another. But since it was spotlighted, and in quite good company, I caved. And I am not in the least bit disappointed. This is my first review because I couldn't stop long enough to even form a coherent thought, but it is too late for me to continue tonight, so I thought I'd stop by at this point and tell you what a brilliant thing you have going here. I'm sort of dreading the point where I catch up to the story, AKA keep posting quickly please :)
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*blushes.... I'm so very happy that you decided to give KoS a try. I'm even happier that you're enjoying it so much that you're gulping it down. :) I'm up to chapter 12 on TPP with 13 in the queue... Chapter 14 has begun and the story is coming quickly. So even when you catch up, I'm anticipating regular updates. So stick around! And while you're waiting, you can read "Tree of Life" which plays with some similar themes but is very different in a lot of ways (*iz a bad influence :-p) :D
wow. just wow. this chapter is fascinating, the ending is a zinger. the laws of magic that you have written out here are interesting and make so much logical sense. I love it!
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Why thank you! I'm thrilled, your review made my day :D*dances
So very powerful! I am curious to see if Severus' patronus has changed, and will we see what animagus form he might take? I've always assumed a fox...
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Ooh! Now if you're interested in seeing how that thematic thread plays out, take a look at my story, "Tree of Life" which was written for last year's SS/HG exchange. I play with some similar themes, but since the prompt required Animagi, well... go see... seriously. And that story is already finished :-p
who would have thot sybil to have the answer! loved the lotus. this is the most facinating and complicated story i'm reading. thanks so much and holiday smoochies
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thanks, Kimjo! I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the complexities of the story :D*hugs
an interesting story so far! keep it up!
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thanks! Chapter 12 is up and 13 is in the queue...
This story is truly inspired. I feel like I can relate to the pain and desperation Hermione, Severus and now Neville are feeling. Trelawney adds the perfect note about the cracked mirrors, plus a great cliffhanger. Must fix the damage from the other side indeed. That gave me a chill.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you so much :) They are so confused and exhausted and stressed... Trelawney does have a way of sometimes getting it just right, doesn't she? *grins... things have been rather turned inside out here...
Wow very powerful scenes and words, amazing work.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you... *blushes
Wow this is quite an original fic and very deep and dark. Really looking forward to more. Your imagery is very visual.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thanks very much. I'm glad you're enjoying it. We're up to chapter 13 (in the queue), so you have more reading ahead! Enjoy :D
Oh lord! what a chilling cliffie! The terrors of the mind are so much more devestating than any we see with our eyes. Repared from the other side -- from the INside. I'll be on pins and needles until I read the next installment. :)
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*grins... yes, indeed. The INside. Excellent. The terrors of the mind devastate completely without help. We are rapidly moving into the phase of the story where we look for that help... meep! So glad you're reading! Thanks for the terrific review.
i can only imagin how neville feels, probably a relief to know it's not just him. this is such an intense story. thanks so much and holiday smoochies to you and yours
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*hugs Oh, yes. Once he could settle down and listen, I think he was relieved... It's so awful to suffer alone.
I'm so glad Neville is connecting with Severus. So exquisitly written. I love reading this story. Any story that focuses more on the characters' feelings than their actions holds my interest better. And you do an amazing job.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you! I'm so pleased that you appreciate both the content and the style. And I am very much like you in my emphasis on emotion in my writing (and in what I most like to read). I find that stories with that emotional focus pull me right in.... and that's always been my goal in my writing, too. I really appreciate you sharing your reading experience -- thank you!
Yay, an update! It's kind of scary to see Neville like this. Brings everything into focus really well. I'm glad he is trying to work with them and isn't belittling them like the idiots that claim to be Hermione's friends.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Yeah, I agree -- he's got an edge to him now... He seems more able to listen, right? Wonder what'll happen now... :)
I am enjoying this story and hope that an update will be forthcoming!
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*waves wand ... woot! More updates :) So glad you're enjoying :D
Great chapter! I am so glad to see updates - with an emphasis in the 's' in updates. This story is highly enjoyable - I am eager to see how Hermione and Severus interact with the outside world and how it relates to their relationship.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
I'm delighted you're enjoying how it's all unfolding. Updates should be regular now. 10 posted the other day, 11 is about to post, and 12 is in the queue. I've found my stride with the story, so keep your eyes open for chapters to post :)
i hope we get to examin severus' remark about ginny more thoroughly. great update. thanks muchly
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Oh, we will. Good catch :)
The anguish, the need, the beauty of your writing... Amazing.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*blushes... thank you :)
Well, you have me totally delighted and transfixed by your wonderful writing again! (I have read/reviewed this story before, but not for a while, I think, and love all of your other work that I've read so far.) However, the beautiful, descriptive passages in this chapter in particular have left me almost speechless with admiration!I love the content of this story but it really is your word- smithery that gets me every time. There are just too many good lines to quote, but I do love 'he held her while the silence of the room pressed against her as she emptied herself of toxins built of fear and brokeness carried for a decade - or longer', or, 'The night wound like a thread of glass around them, between them - too fragile to withstand even the whisper of words on its delicate surface'. Wow! What absolutely beautiful descriptions, almost poetry really. I simply can't wait to see where this story goes now. What incredible talent you have! :-)
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
*grins Thank you for such a thoughtful review and for your wonderful compliments about my writing. I'm so glad to hear that the way I'm painting the picture is resonating with you... hooray! The story is moving onward--and the chapters are flowing now, so you can expect regular updates :) I'm so glad you're reading!
amazing chapter. amazing images. thanks so much
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Thank you! :D
Wow, Ginny was really terrible! Severus is right, Hemione is used to being in the light, not hidden away. But it all seemed to get sorted out in the end.
Response from shefa (Author of King of Swords)
Ginny is a mess... Those Horcruxes did a number on all of them :(
